New York Giants, Jets to hold joint training camp practices
The New York Giants won't have to travel far when they conduct joint practices during training camp and the preseason.
On Tuesday, New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn confirmed that the two teams will conduct joint practices ahead of the Week 2 preseason game. One practice will take place at Florham Park with the other taking place in East Rutherford.
It was unlikely the Giants were going to have joint practices with the Buffalo Bills ahead of the preseason Week 1 game while the preseason finale against the New England Patriots takes place just four days after the matchup against the Jets.
Even though Glenn, the former Jets cornerback from 1994-2001, is a first-time head coach in his career, it was expected that the Jets would conduct some type of joint practices. His recent history as the defensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions likely prepared him for that considering the latter's affinity for physical practices.
As is the case with joint practices in today's game, there's a good chance both teams treat the pair of practices as scrimmages. That means some or even most of the starters may not participate in the actual preseason game, giving some of the players lower on the depth chart more snaps to put on tape.
The preseason game against the Jets is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 16 at 7:00 p.m. ET, so it's likely the joint practices will take place Wednesday and Thursday of that week.

Jets' Justin Fields Offers Positive Breece Hall Scouting Report

Jets' Justin Fields Offers Positive Breece Hall Scouting Report originally appeared on Athlon Sports. New York Jets quarterback Justin Fields is slowly getting acclimated to his new surroundings as minicamp continues. Advertisement At this stage of the offseason, it's all about dotting your i's and crossing your t's and getting to know your teammates. One whom Fields will be working closely with in 2025 is running back Breece Hall. Entering the final year of his deal and the subject of some trade speculation, Hall will be a Jet in 2025, and Fields' security blanket in both the run and pass game. And Justin already likes what he sees from Breece. "Breece is a ball player for sure," Fields said. "Everybody knows he can run, but what kind of surprised me is his natural hands. When I first started throwing with him, he has natural hands like a receiver. He's really just all around back, so definitely glad to have him on my team for sure." New York Jets running back Breece Hall (20) runs with the ball© Kevin R. / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images Hall, as a receiver in his last two years, has totaled at least 50 receptions and 480 yards along with a handful of touchdowns, with his ability to catch and turn upfield a highlight. Advertisement With new head coach Aaron Glenn wanting the Jets to play a tough, physical brand of football, Hall will be central to that. His ability as a runner is well-documented, and now Fields is seeing how valuable Breece can be as a receiver. With many skeptics questioning the Jets' offense due to a lack of receiving weapons outside of Garrett Wilson, perhaps Hall can take his game to the next level as a pass-catcher. He's already catching the eye of Fields, so expect Breece to play a significant role for Tanner Engstrand in 2025, with his receiving skills being a key feature. Buccaneers Minicamp Offers First Glimpse Of Chris Godwin Recovery Timeline

Buccaneers Minicamp Offers First Glimpse Of Chris Godwin Recovery Timeline originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver Chris Godwin and his injured ankle are, by all accounts, trending in the right direction as the franchise thinks he will be ready for Week 1. Advertisement However, over the past couple of months, we haven't heard too much about how Godwin is actually traveling in his rehab. But we might get a good indication of where exactly Chris is in his recovery timeline when minicamp rolls around in a couple of days. And ESPN's Jenna Laine notes that it will be a key storyline in how much or little Godwin participates in the offseason work. "Godwin was off to a blistering start last season before the injury in Week 7 ended his season," Laine writes. "So, what will his participation look like? (Will he be on the sideline the whole time? Will he work off to the side with a member of the training staff? Will he do positional drills?) Advertisement "General manager Jason Licht has said he expects Godwin to be ready for Week 1 but hasn't gone into detail beyond that. This could be the first time this offseason that we see how he's recovering." Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin (14) runs in for a touchdown during the third quarter against the New Orleans Saints at Caesars Hinton-Imagn Images Now, it won't be the end of the world if Godwin is only on the sidelines as the Buccaneers take a cautious approach with their Pro Bowler. Why? Because the offense still has Mike Evans, Cade Otton, Jalen McMillan, and the newly drafted first-round receiver Emeka Egbuka. So the Buccaneers will be just fine. That also allows Godwin to go through his rehab slowly and hit all the key markers he needs to in building up for what many hope will be a Week 1 start. Advertisement Would Godwin being on the grass catching passes be great at this stage of the offseason? Absolutely. But what would be even better is Chris suiting up for Week 1. Former Ohio State tight end Jeremy Ruckert responds to being reunited with Justin Fields

Former Ohio State tight end Jeremy Ruckert responds to being reunited with Justin Fields Former Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields seems to have found himself a new opportunity to seize a major role in the NFL with the New York Jets after signing a two-year deal with the club. A byproduct of that is that he gets a chance to reconnect with a couple of other former Buckeyes that he played with in Columbus. We've already heard from receiver Garrett Wilson on his excitement to play with the former Heisman Finalist and first-round NFL draft pick, but the electric receiver isn't the only former OSU player donning a Jets uniform. Former tight end Jeremy Ruckert, who played for Ohio State from 2018 to 2021, got to block for and catch passes from Fields on the banks of the Olentangy for two years. So yeah, he too has some history with the guy the Jets' brass hopes turns around the fortunes of the J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets. Ruckert was asked by the New York media what it means to be playing with his college teammate again, and was excited more for the team than himself. "Any time you get a chance to reconnect with one of your teammates, whether it's in the League or college, it's great,: Ruckert told reporters. "I'm excited where we're going as a team and the culture we're setting, and I think he's (Fields) perfect for that role, and just these last couple of weeks to get back on the same page and get our timing right with all the guys. It's been special to be a part of that, but also kind of get the other guys rolling and continue to grow as a unit." If you are an Ohio State fan, there aren't too many storylines that jump out more than what Fields does in New York. If he can use his athletic gifts the right way and still find a way to stay poised and present in the pocket, we could see a budding star coming to light just a little later than we thought.
