L'Équipe understands that former Liverpool midfielder Chirivella will be the next to depart. The Spaniard arrived five years ago on a free transfer and has since been elected club captain. He has been a key member in Les Canaris' midfield and was a part of the club's Coupe de France triumph back in 2022.
Last season, he played 30 games in Ligue 1, but he is now set to depart for a relatively nominal fee. As per L'Équipe, a deal has been reached with Panathinaikos, who will pay just €2m for his services.

Spa 24 Hours: Lamborghini takes maiden victory

Grasser Lamborghini claimed a hard-fought maiden win at the 2025 24 Hours of Spa, as Mirko Bortolotti, Luca Engstler, and Jordan Pepper took their Huracan GT3 to the top step of the podium. The race ran uninterrupted for the final eight hours, with the last safety car disappearing after 16 hour. Instead, the closing stages were shaped by three Full Course Yellow (FCY) periods, two of which proved decisive in the battle for the win. Advertisement The pivotal moment came in the 13th FCY of the race, nearly 18 and a half hours in, as both the #63 Grasser Lamborghini and Rowe Racing's #98 BMW of Augusto Farfus, Jesse Krohn, Raffaele Marciello pitted. While BMW's pace wasn't enough to mount a real challenge, the Lamborghini emerged in the lead. Another FCY shortly after the 20-hour mark handed the top spot to the #96 Rutronik Racing Porsche Sven Muller, Patric Niederhauser and Alessio Picariello with a lucky pitstop under the caution period to set up a duel with Grasser's Lambo for victory. The Porsche held the lead for nearly two hours until disaster struck: Muller suffered a puncture in the fearsome Blanchimont section. Fortunately, he kept the car under control and was able to limp to the pits - but it was just enough for Grasser to regain the lead. But Grasser's final pitstop nearly unraveled it all, as Bortolotti lost precious seconds as his Lamborghini struggled to fire back up. Bortolotti lost six seconds in total, and the margin over the chasing Porsche was down to less than one second. #63 GRT - Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2: Mirko Bortolotti, Jordan Pepper, Luca Engstler #63 GRT - Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2: Mirko Bortolotti, Jordan Pepper, Luca Engstler But once back on track, Bortolotti controlled the lead and kept Niederhauser firmly at bay to win by 8.703s. Advertisement Lamborghini becomes the 20th different manufacturer to win the Spa 24 Hours, while it is also the first win of the event for all three drivers. Third place went to #51 AF Corse's Ferrari Alessio Rovera, Vincent Abril, and Alessandro Pier Guidi, thanks to a post-race time penalty against #98 Rowe BMW for exceeding track limits. The Ferrari had overcome an early brake issue and even went a lap down before staging a strong comeback, aided by good FCY timing. Just behind was the sister #50 Ferrari #50 Antonio Fuoco, Eliseo Donno and Arthur Leclerc, which delivered a clean race but missed the decisive FCY luck. In the Gold Cup, the #58 McLaren of Adam Smalley, Frederik Schandorff, Dean MacDonald, Louis Prette Jr was on course for class victory, until a late-race puncture struck with just eight minutes remaining. That handed the class win to the #33 Racing Aston Martin Thierry Vermeulen, Chris Lulham, and Harry King, which also emerged as the best-placed Aston overall after both Pro entries retired. Advertisement The race was marred by a terrifying high-speed accident: Laurin Heinrich, driving the #22 Schumacher-CLRT Porsche, plowed into the slowing #112 CSA McLaren with nearly 200kph speed difference. Miraculously, both drivers walked away unscathed. Read Also: How Verstappen has created an ambitious GT team ahead of new era in 2025 To read more articles visit our website.

England U21s Win Euros with Liverpool Stars at the Heart of Victory

Liverpool Trio Stand Tall as England Win European U21 Championship Elliott crowned best in Europe England's triumph at the European U21 Championship offered a fitting conclusion to a long and winding campaign, and for three Liverpool players, it was a reminder of their quality and potential. Harvey Elliott, Tyler Morton and Jarell Quansah all played their part as the Young Lions edged past Germany 3-2 in a pulsating final on Saturday night. Advertisement For Elliott, this was more than just a victory; it was a personal coronation. The Liverpool midfielder opened the scoring in the final and was later named Player of the Tournament, a richly deserved accolade for a campaign full of intent, flair, and leadership. At 22, Elliott continues to evolve into a player of substance, capable of turning games and setting the tone in midfield. Photo: IMAGO Morton's comeback on the big stage Tyler Morton may have faded from Anfield's view this past season, but in Slovakia he delivered a moment that will linger far longer than most cameos. The 22-year-old, who made just five appearances for Liverpool in the 2024/25 campaign after failing to secure a loan or permanent move, produced a match-winning assist worthy of the highest praise. Advertisement GOAL described Morton's cross for Jonathan Rowe's 92nd-minute header as 'outstanding' and even called it 'Alexander-Arnold-esque', high praise for a player who has struggled for minutes but not for talent. The Express labelled the assist 'sensational,' despite noting Morton had a 'sloppy' start to the game. Former Liverpool forward Neil Mellor added further endorsement on social media: 'Tyler Morton that is an outrageous cross to get the assist!' In that single moment, vision, technique, bravery, Morton reminded everyone of his pedigree. Whether that's enough to force a rethink at Anfield remains to be seen, but suitors will have taken note. Photo: IMAGO Quansah's final Liverpool outing? Jarell Quansah's tournament may have doubled as his farewell in a Liverpool shirt. According to Fabrizio Romano, the 22-year-old defender is set for a medical at Bayer Leverkusen on Monday, a move that reflects both his rising stock and Liverpool's evolving defensive strategy under Arne Slot. Advertisement Quansah, a reliable and assured presence at the back throughout the Euros, earned an 8/10 rating from The Express, who tipped him for 'a big future in the game.' GOAL noted he 'remained solid as ever' while also showcasing 'an attacking threat with the ball at his feet.' Liverpool fans would be forgiven for feeling a pang of regret, Quansah's progression has been steady and sincere, and losing him now may leave the Reds thin at centre-back unless significant reinforcements arrive. Uncertain futures despite glittering success So, while England's victory will be etched into the history books, the broader narrative surrounding Liverpool's U21 trio remains laced with uncertainty. Elliott has long been a key figure around the first team, but interest in him from clubs across Europe will only intensify. Morton, despite his brilliance, remains on the fringes. And Quansah looks set for the Bundesliga. For Liverpool, this summer could signal a turning point. Slot's tenure will be defined by how he integrates or replaces players like these, ones who've shown their worth on the European stage. Fans will celebrate their achievements, but also hope the club retains at least part of this talented generation.

Agent leaks Arne Slot plans for record signing Florian Wirtz

Szoboszlai will retain his place in the XI In an interview with M4 Sport, Dominik Szoboszlai's agent and famous manager Matyas Esterhazy spoke about how he sees the Hungarian getting on in the upcoming season with the Reds. Advertisement He said: "I am sure that the two of them [Szoboszlai and Wirtz] will be together on the pitch in some form... I trust that Dominik will jump this step and will be increasingly successful with he constantly developing team." Of course, this is not a definitive claim, as Slot will have the final word on how the team plays, but Szoboszlai's camp is far from concerned about the arrival of Wirtz and the impact it may have. We've already seen how a No. 8 role might be adopted next season - which he excelled in for the Hungarian national team at the end of the last campaign, but what might this future set up look like? Well, bringing Szoboszlai deeper into midfield compromises Alexis Mac Allister, because Ryan Gravenberch is a bit of a non-negotiable in the side, so is losing the Argentine an option? No, really. Advertisement So we might see Cody Gakpo or Luis Diaz, or both, left on the bench from time to time, with Wirtz playing as more of a left-winger, or making up a double pivot of No. 10s alongside Szoboszlai, if you want to utilise Wirtz in addition to the title-winning midfield that Arne Slot used last season. But in general, a lot of different combinations could be used throughout the upcoming campaign, and it will be fascinating to see the impact on each player's workloads. In Szoboszlai's case, the off the ball work he does covering Salah and elsewhere on the pitch is paramount, so we'll need him. At times, the energy he puts into his performances can be taxing, so a new No. 10 might actually help taken the edge off the burden he carries, but the playing alongside Wirtz must be an ambition also. Either way, we have an exciting new update, with loads of new tactical tweaks to be messed around with, while most of the old setup is still available until everyone is up to speed with the changes.
