Disgraced choirmaster who worked on Wallace and Gromit stripped of MBE over child abuse conviction
David Pickthall was sentenced to 12 years in prison last November after admitting 29 offences relating to 19 people.
The 66-year-old's crimes took place between 1980 and 2021, during which he was a choirmaster and teacher in Essex.
Pickthall, who had also worked on the 1993 Oscar-winning short Wallace and Gromit: The Wrong Trousers, was made an MBE in 2015 for services to charity and education, having raised vast sums of money for charity.
But the Cabinet Office has confirmed that Pickthall has been stripped of his honour due to his criminal conviction.
Pickthall, of Cheveley in Cambridgeshire, showed his victims pornographic material, filmed them without their consent while they stayed at his home and assaulted them when they were alone.
He also obtained indecent images of children via social media, and in the months before his arrest in 2021, Pickthall engaged in sexual communication with a 15-year-old boy on the messaging app Telegram.
The disgraced music teacher was said to have started by tickling his young victims before escalating to more serious abuse in behaviour described as 'predatory'.
Numerous victims of Pickthall read their victim impact statements during his sentencing at Chelmsford Crown Court.
One victim told the court they had been a 'very happy child' before Pickthall had abused them. They said they 'hero-worshipped' Pickthall and his musical ability.
Another said the regularity of abuse had become normal to them, adding: 'Over the course of weeks, months and years being assaulted by Pickthall became my normal. I hated myself and my life and worst of all I did not know how to make it stop.'
Judge Mary Loram KC told the survivors "the shame is not yours" and that Pickthall was "seen to be too powerful to be challenged" and had "adapted [his] offending as the technology emerged".
Addressing the predator, she said: "You relied on your good character to manipulate others; to ensure parents trusted you and children felt powerless in the face of your reputation."
Pickthall is serving a 12-year prison sentence with a further four on extended licence. He had admitted 29 offences – 16 counts of indecent assault, 10 counts of voyeurism, and three counts of making an indecent image of a child.

Myleene Klass's ex responds to cheating claims
Myleene Klass's ex-husband has hit back at claims that he cheated on her. The 47-year-old musician, presenter and model recently warned those who 'have reason to' be afraid, following claims her ex-husband cheated on her with a well-known female celebrity. Klass was married for two years to her Irish bodyguard Graham Quinn, initially meeting in 2001, marrying in 2011, and divorcing two years later in 2013. Speaking about their relationship, she revealed that she caught him about to sleep with a 'famous person' while in her own home for her birthday. Now, however, Graham, with whom she shares two daughters, has clapped back at Klass. According to those close to him, a source told Daily Mail: 'He thinks she's a bully. 'They believe it was especially 'vindictive and calculated' of Myleene to launch the bombshell broadside on what she would have known was the week of Graham's 51st birthday.' In a previous chat with Fathers4Justice, Graham was also found to have said that Klass 'actively denied' him access to his two kids. He told how he felt that he was 'banging his head against a brick wall' in his attempts for access. saying: 'I haven't seen my kids in years. 'The only exception is when Myleene begrudgingly met me in a car park off the North Circular Road in 2014. 'She lowered the window about three inches and I could see the girls in the back. That was it. 'I've thrown so much more money at it [trying to see his daughters] and I can't afford much more. 'I've spent £20,000 and am probably further away from them now than I've ever been. I've missed so many birthdays and Christmas days. I'll never get that back.' Throughout this ordeal, Klass has declined to name the woman involved at the time. But earlier this week, the presenter took to Instagram with what appears to be a veiled warning to those 'who probably have reason to' be afraid, declaring she 'won't keep her mouth shut' and has 'receipts.' Alongside a photograph of her recently awarded MBE – for services to women's health, miscarriage awareness, and charity – Klass shared a heartfelt message with her followers. More Trending 'Wow. What a week it's been!' she wrote. 'Firstly, thank you. I have quite literally tens of thousands of messages of love and support for me and my family. I took a long time to learn there's strength in vulnerability.' She added: 'At 47, I've finally found my voice and it's clear, unapologetic and brutally honest.' 'To those that fear its truth, you probably have reason to. I have receipts. To those that need to hear it, I've got you—and I fully intend to continue using it to change the laws and legislation that neglect women and children in this country and around the world.' Oscar makes a bold move in EastEnders that leaves Lauren shaken to the core
Oscar plays with fire next week (Picture: BBC/Kieron McCarron) Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) is left shocked by her guilt-ridden brother Oscar's (Pierre Moullier) behaviour in EastEnders next week. As viewers of the BBC One soap know, Oscar foolishly attacked Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker) earlier in the week, just moments after he stole the legend's 6k bookies winnings. He was desperate for the cash in a bid to pay off his thuggish former pal Fat Mike (Tai Hilferink), who was threatening the safety of his family. Little did he realise, Lauren had returned early from maternity leave to flog a few cars and get an advance on her wages. By the time Oscar had returned clutching Patrick's money, she'd already paid Mike off. It became apparent to him that he couldn't keep bringing drama to Lauren's doorstep, and he went to walk off into the night. But not before she could discover the cash, and realise what had happened. As the Trueman-Fox clan gathered around Patrick's bedside waiting for an update, the police arrived to take a witness statement from Howie Danes (Delroy Atkinson), who had found him lay on the floor. Desperate for cash, Oscar stole Patrick's money (Picture: BBC/Jack Barnes/Kieron McCarron) During a scuffle, the pensioner was sent tumbling (Picture: BBC/Jack Barnes/Kieron McCarron) He'd clearly remembered more than he was letting on, later blackmailing Oscar and Lauren for the stolen money. Lauren refuses to allow him to manipulate them, arguing that he had absolutely no evidence that her brother was responsible. Howie was determined to prove them wrong, and presented them with some evidence – the balaclava and clothes that Oscar was wearing when he committed the burglary. With nowhere left to turn, Lauren and Oscar handed over the money. Just as they think their ordeal is over, the problem deepens next week. WhatsApp deletes 6,800,000 scam accounts offering fake jobs and products
Over 6.8 million accounts have been scrubbed off of WhatsApp as part of a crackdown on 'criminal scam centres', most of them in South East Asia. Meta is working to target too-good-to-be-true offers and unsolicited texts unleashed to steal people's personal information or money. Scrapping scam accounts is just one of the measures the parent company announced earlier this week. A new tool is also being rolled out on WhatsApp to help customers spot any signs of fraud – but experts argue that much more is needed to protect people. The truth is that fraudsters are working around the clock to perfect their techniques and as a result, scams are becoming more sophisticated by the minute. Fake recruiters reaching out with a job offer or opportunity is one of the most popular scams to look out for. Often getting in touch completely unsolicited, they try to bait jobseekers with false promises of high pay and competitive benefits. As an excuse to extort money, they may request payment for training, and if it is information they are after, they will try and persuade people to share bank accounts and other details. Another successful fraud is the 'fake giveaway'. Texts with links for free products or vouchers regularly circulate WhatsApp. They typically lead to a malicious website and ask people to complete a survey before attempting to gain your personal and financial information to 'post your prize'. In addition to banning the scam accounts, WhatsApp is also rolling out a single new feature to help protect users. More Trending Group messaging: WhatsApp is launching a new safety overview that will show when someone who is not in the user's contacts adds them to a new group you may not recognize. It will include key information about the group and tips to stay safe. From there, people can exit the group without ever having to look at the chat. Individual messaging: While this is not a feature yet, Meta said it is testing new approaches to alerting people to pause before engaging with a user not in the contacts. UK consumer rights organisation Which? welcomed the announcement, but said: 'Meta must do much more to stop these criminals across all its platforms.'
