India's fight against terror has not stopped yet, Op Sindoor just first arrow in our quiver: PM Modi in poll-bound Bihar
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on 30 May that India's fight against terror will continue and that Operation Sindoor was just one arrow in country's quiver. This was second public meeting that Modi addressed in Bihar after the 22 April Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people, mostly tourists in Jammu and Kashmir.
'Pakistan and the world have seen the power of India's daughters' Sindoor... The world has seen the unprecedented valour and courage of the BSF during Operation Sindoor,' Modi said addressing a rally in poll-bound Bihar.
Assembly elections are scheduled in Bihar later this year.
Two weeks after the Pahalgam terror attack, India on 7 May conducted precision strikes on at least nine terror camps in Pakistan in what is known as 'Operation Sindoor'. India and Pakistan indulged in four days of military action post Operation Sindoor. The two nations, however, agreed on an understanding to halt military action on 10 May.
Modi also remembered BSF Sub-Inspector Mohammad Imtiaz, a soldier from Bihar's Saran district, was was killed in cross-border shelling in Jammu and Kashmir's RS Pura sector on 10 May.
'While performing the sacred duty of serving the motherland, BSF Sub Inspector Imtiaz laid down his life at the border on 10 May. I pay my respectful tribute to this son of Bihar," the PM said.
The enemy, Modi said, has seen the power of Operation Sindoor. "They should understand that India's fight against terrorism has neither stopped nor halted. Operation Sindoor is just one arrow in our quiver. If the hood of terror rises again, India will crush it by pulling it out of its hole,' Modi said adding the terrorists considered themselves safe under the protection of the Pakistani Army.
"Our forces brought them to their knees in one stroke," he said.
Earlier Modi laid foundation stone and inaugurated various projects worth ₹ 48,520 crore in Karakat, Bihar.
The PM, who arrived in Patna on a two-day visit to the state on Thursday, inaugurated the four-laning of the Patna–Gaya–Dobhi section of NH–22, worth around ₹ 5,520 crore and four-laning of the elevated highway and grade improvements at Gopalganj Town on NH–27 at a function here. Modi dedicated to the nation the third rail line between Son Nagar – Mohammad Ganj, worth over ₹ 1,330 crore, among others, news agency PTI said.
Modi recalled his April 24 promise to hit back at Pakistan during his address on Friday. On April 24, two days after Pahalgam terror attack, Modi had said that he wanted the world to know that India will identify and punish every terrorist. Modi, in a rare English-speaking gesture, said those behind the Pahalgam terror attack and those part of the conspiracy will be punished beyond their imagination.
"A terrorist attack took place in Pahalgam and our innocent citizens got killed. I came to Bihar after that and promised the country that terrorist camps would be destroyed. I said that they will get punished beyond their imagination. I have come to Bihar today after fulfilling my promise," Modi said on Friday.
Modi also credited Bihar CM and JD-U chief Nitish Kumar of ending Bihar's jungle raj. Nitish Kumar, who has been with INDIA bloc ealier joined the National Democratic Alliance in January last year.

Air India CEO says airline looking to replace tie-up with Turkish aircraft maintenance company Amid continuing military tensions with Pakistan, Air India is exploring alternatives to replace Turkiye-based aircraft maintenance provider, Turkish Technic, following boycott calls sparked by Ankara's support for Pakistan during last month's cross-border strikes. Simultaneously, the airline has requested the government for $600 million annual subsidy to counter losses from flight disruptions triggered by Pakistan's airspace closure since April. 'We are cognisant of the [public] opinion. As we can find alternatives, we'll try direct aircraft there. It's not an overnight or easy solution.' Air India CEO Campbell Wilson told The Hindu in response to a question on whether the airline would revisit its agreement with Turkish Technic amidst calls for boycott. The airline sends its Boeing 777, legacy as well as those leased from Delta Airlines and Etihad post privatisation, to Turkiye for maintenance operations. The airline is already grappling with a delay in the retrofit of its legacy narrowbody and widebody aircraft, and a complete retrofit or refurnishing of its 13 legacy Boeing 777 now stands postponed with the aircraft set to undergo a limited 'heavy refresh' next year that involves new carpets and seat covers. 'We've got a number of widebody aircraft that require maintenance, including the refit. There isn't the capacity in India to do that for wide-body aircraft and we've had to farm aircraft out to AIESL [Air India Engineering Services Limited- a government-owned MRO]. Obviously, they can't do all of it. We've sent some to Abu Dhabi, some to Singapore, and indeed some to Turkish,' Mr Wilson explained. Air India's low-cost arm, Air India Express, too has an agreement with the Turkish company for component support and solution needs of 190 Boeing 737 aircraft, that include services such as component pooling, repair, overhaul, modification, and logistics services of Turkish Technic. Recently, the DGCA also said that IndiGo has until August 30 to terminate its agreement for leasing two widebody Boeing 777 aircraft from Turkish Airlines which the former has been using since 2023 to provide flights to Istanbul from Delhi and Mumbai after technical challenges in using its own narrow- body Airbus A320 and A321 that had to either take a mid-way fuel stop or carry less than the full load of passengers. The government has also revoked Turkish ground-handling company Celebi's security clearance across airports. But the impact of the military tensions on Indo-Pak border for two of the biggest airlines in India don't end here. Air India has also sought $600 million subsidy from the Indian government for every year Pakistan's airspace remains shut for Indian aircraft as it is forced to re-route its flights to Europe and North America and take a fuel-stop in Vienna for flights to Toronto, Washington DC, Chicago resulting in upto three hours of additional flight duration for some. 'At the time, that was our assessment of what the cost would be,' Mr Wilson said in response to a question. The demand was made after the government asked airlines to share their assessment of the impact of the airspace closure. Air India's flights are also grappling with an impact on passenger and cargo capacity in some cases. 'In order to operate non-stop with a longer flight route, we can't fill all of the seats or all of the cargo capacity,' the airline CEO said. As many as 20-30 seats have to be flown without passengers on some flights. 'We're getting better at optimising the flight route and mitigate the impact on our customers, operations and finances,' Campbell added. Scolding does not amount to provoking someone to take own life: Supreme Court The Supreme Court has discharged a man who was accused of driving a student to suicide by scolding him. The accused, in charge of a school and a hostel, had scolded the deceased following a complaint by another student. After the incident, the student killed himself. A Bench of Justices Ahsanuddin Amanullah and Prashant Kumar Mishra stated that no ordinary person could have imagined that a scolding would result in such a tragedy. The top court set aside an order of the Madras High Court, which had refused to discharge the teacher for the offence of abetment to suicide under Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code. ‘Secularism must be two-way street': Pawan Kalyan slams TMC over influencer Sharmistha Panoli's arrest

TPCC chief to take up ceasefire appeal with State government; Peace Talks Committee slams Centre for not announcing ceasefire
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud has said that he will bring the Peace Talks Committee's appeal for a ceasefire with the CPI (Maoist) to the notice of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, besides discussing it completely in the party's high-level committee, to explore the possibility of announcing a ceasefire in the State. Addressing a roundtable conference organised by the Peace Talks Committee at Sundarayya Vignana Kendram here on Sunday, Mr. Mahesh slammed the Modi-led Central government for its handling of the Maoist issue and Operation Kagar at Karreguttalu. He accused the Centre of aiming to eliminate Naxalites to hand over mineral wealth in Chhattisgarh and other States to corporate companies. The Congress leader also criticised the Modi government for its 'fascist rule', saying it is willing to hold talks with terrorists but not with those who sacrificed their lives to address social inequalities. Stating that any democratically-elected government must act following the Constitution, he questioned why the Centre is not willing to hold talks with Maoists, who are Indian citizens, while offering a ceasefire with Pakistan. Referring to the Congress's ideology, he remembered that their party was built on the foundations of non-violence. He, however, condemned violence from all sides and stated that Naxalism was born out of economic inequalities. Expressing similar views, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC Dasoju Sravan Kumar, representing the party at the conference, emphasised his party's commitment to peace, dialogue and democratic values. He recalled that former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, during a public meeting in Warangal, had called for an immediate end to Operation Kagar and urged the Central government to hold peace talks. Mr. Sravan suggested that people resort to arms when they lack a platform to raise their grievances and stressed the need for effective platforms for people to express their grievances. Peace Talks Committee convener Justice Chandrakumar, members Prof. Haragopal, Prof. Anwar Khan and others urged the Centre to hold talks with the Maoists immediately.
