Days After An Insider Lifted The Lid On Kelly Clarkson And Brandon Blackstock's 'Messy' Divorce, His Obituary Has Revealed That He Was In A Relationship With Her Former Assistant
The sad news broke just hours after Kelly announced that she was postponing the remainder of her August concerts in order to be 'fully present' for her children, whose 'father has been ill.'

A representative for Brandon later told People that he had 'bravely battled cancer for more than three years,' and 'passed away peacefully' on Aug. 7, 'surrounded by family.'
Kelly and Brandon were married from 2013 to 2020 and share two children: 11-year-old River Rose, and 9-year-old Remington Alexander. Their divorce was finalized in 2022 following an incredibly messy legal battle, which centered around a financial dispute from Kelly's time being managed by Brandon under his family's talent agency.
The legal case was settled in May 2024.
After Brandon's death, an insider reflected on the former couple's 'incredibly difficult' divorce to People, stating that it was 'messy, painful and something she felt terrible about.' However, the source went on to add that Kelly always remained positive about Brandon for the sake of their children, saying: 'When she found out that he was sick, she remained protective of him for their sake. Kelly has always tried to keep things classy.'
'She always wanted her kids to have the best relationship possible with their dad. She never spoke poorly about Brandon to the kids,' they added. 'It became clear earlier this year that Brandon was not doing well. She's been devastated for the kids.'

And some more insight into Brandon's personal life has come to light in his obituary, which reveals that he was in a happy relationship with Brittney Marie Jones at the time of his death.
In the obituary, Brittney is described as Brandon's 'beautiful and loving partner in life and business,' and it has since been revealed that Brittney actually worked as Kelly's production assistant in Nashville between 2016 and 2018.

Per People, Brittney's LinkedIn revealed that after working for Kelly for two years, she transitioned to an executive management assistant role for Brandon in December 2018, but still 'assistant managed day to day artist schedule for Kelly Clarkson.'
In June 2020, which is the same month that Kelly filed for divorce from Brandon, Brittney became an executive assistant for his Montana ranch, V Bar B Cattle Co. Brandon's obituary states that he and Brittney 'started building a life, building companies, and working tirelessly to create Headwaters Livestock Auction and what will live on as his legacy, The Valley View Rodeo in Bozeman, Montana.'
People also report that Brittney's father, Larry Jones, paid emotional tribute to Brandon on Aug. 8, where he wrote: 'Yesterday we lost a good man Brandon Blackstock.' He purportedly went on to describe Brandon as his 'daughter's soulmate,' and said that he 'considered him [a] son.'

This was yesterday's riddle: Four men sat down to play, they played all night till break of day, They played for gold and not for fun, with separate scores for everyone, When time came to square accounts, they each had made quite fair amounts FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder So answer me this paradox, how each man gained when no man lost? The deception here is the notion that these four men are playing against one another, cards or dice or some type of game. The reality is, these four men were playing together: They're musicians! PLANE (because I was about to board one when I made this guess) ended up being quite lucky. With just 18 words left and three yellow boxes, I had a lot to work with. LIKEN cut that number down to just two: KNELT and KNELL. I was pretty sure KNELT had already been a Wordle, because I remember at the time thinking it was a weird word for a Wordle, being a past participle. So I went with KNELL, a very obscure and antiquated word, which means essentially 'the sound of a bell'. Lucky for me, that was the Wordle! After a string of losses, I finally beat the Bot! I get 1 point for guessing in three and 1 for beating the Bot, while the Bot loses 1 for losing to me and gets 0 for guessing in four. Our August totals are now: Erik: 3 points Wordle Bot: 8 points The word knell comes from Middle English knellen, from Old English cnellian meaning 'to ring (a bell), especially for a death or disaster.' This traces back to the noun cnyll, 'a sound or stroke of a bell,' which is of Germanic origin and related to Old High German chnellen ('to resound, ring'). Dolly Parton Offers Tender Message To Kelly Clarkson And Reba McEntire
Dolly Parton offered a tender message of solace to the loved ones of Brandon Blackstock, a talent manager who died from skin cancer last week at the age of 48. Blackstock was the ex-husband of Kelly Clarkson and the former stepson of Reba McEntire. Parton, who lost her husband, Carl Thomas Dean, in March, was asked by Entertainment Tonight on Monday if she had any words of comfort for Clarkson and McEntire. While she revealed she hasn't yet had a chance to speak with them directly, her affection for both women was evident. 'I think that you just have to be grateful for the years that you've had with someone, and you just try to remember the very best of all that,' Parton said. 'Take their energy that they had given you then, and you just kind of recycle that, and let that become a part of you. Just honor their memory and just know they're in a better place than we are these days.' Blackstock died Aug. 7, three years after being diagnosed with skin cancer. A day before his death, Clarkson postponed the remainder of her Las Vegas residency dates, citing personal reasons. 'While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children's father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them,' she shared in an Instagram post. 'I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding.' Related... Kelly Clarkson's Ex Brandon Blackstock Learned He Was Going to Be a Grandpa Again Weeks Before Death
Brandon Blackstock found out his family was expanding prior to his tragic death. The late talent manager's eldest daughter, Savannah, revealed she was pregnant with her second child via an Instagram announcement on July 5, according to People. The baby — a little girl who is due in January 2026 — would have made Blackstock a grandfather for the second time, as Savannah already shares 3-year-old son Lake with her husband, Quentin Lee. 'We've been keeping a couple sweet surprises,' Savannah wrote on the platform, per People. 'One little girl will be making her arrival at the beginning of January and another beautiful girl named Julianna who has already been one of the greatest blessings to our family.' Savannah also gave credit to the lord for her pregnancy in her post. 'He's written a story we never could've imagined, and His kindness in this season has left us in awe,' she gushed. 'He's answered prayers we never even knew how to pray. This journey has been so special full of peace, excitement, and so much grace. We're growing again, and our hearts are so full. Thank you, Jesus.' In addition to Savannah, Blackstock shares son Seth with his first wife, Melissa Ashworth, whom he was married to from 2001 to 2012. He was also a dad to kids River, 11, and Remington, 9, whom he shares with his second wife, Kelly Clarkson. The couple tied the knot in 2013, separated in 2020, and finalized their divorce in 2022. Blackstock passed away on Thursday, August 7, after a lengthy battle with melanoma. He was 48 years old.
