‘Heartstopper' is officially ending on Netflix — but there's a catch
It's the beginning of the end of 'Heartstopper.'
Netflix announced Tuesday that the British rom-com series will end with a feature film, instead of a fourth season.
'happy 🍂day! a heartstopper movie, our final chapter based on alice oseman's upcoming volume six, is coming,' the streamer wrote on Instagram on the three-year anniversary of the show's premiere.

According to Netflix's Tudum, the 'Heartstopper' movie will star Kit Connor (as Nick Nelson) and Joe Locke (as Charlie Spring). They will also serve as executive producers.
The film, which will pick up after the events of Season 3 and begins filming this summer, is being directed by Wash Westmoreland and written by the show's creator and executive producer Alice Oseman, who wrote the graphic novels that the series is based on.

The synopsis for the movie reads, 'Nick and Charlie are inseparable, but with Nick preparing to leave for university and Charlie finding new independence at school, the reality of a long-distance relationship begins to weigh on them. Doubts take hold, and their relationship faces its biggest challenge yet. Meanwhile, their friends are also navigating the ups and downs of love and friendship, confronting the bittersweet challenges of growing up and moving on. Can first loves really last forever?'

Fans had mixed reactions to the news of the 'Heartstopper' film.
'This makes me so happy that Heartstopper gets the ending it truly deserves,' one fan wrote in the comments of Netflix's Instagram announcement.
'this just made my day,' another fan said.
A third account commented, 'The best news ever, my day couldn't be better!!🥹.'

But other viewers of the show were disappointed that Season 4 was shafted in favor of a movie.
'No season 4 before the movie is almost angering 😭😭,' a fan said.
Someone else wrote, 'idk I'd prefer 8 hours of episodes instead of 2 hours but whatever ig.'

'why movie????? only maybe 1-2 hours. we need series with alot duration instead,' a different fan said.
'We want season 4 not a movie sorry but it's not a good news,' another comment read.
'Heartstopper' helped launch Connor and Locke's careers when the show came out in April 2022.

Connor, 21, who won a Children's and Family Emmy Award for his role as Nick, recently starred in 'Romeo & Juliet' on Broadway alongside Rachel Zegler and in the film 'Warfare.'
The British actor came out as bisexual in Oct. 2022 after facing queerbaiting accusations over his 'Heartstopper' role. He clarified his coming out in a July 2023 interview with British Vogue, saying, 'I think 'forced' isn't the right word I would use, but I would say that I would have preferred to do it another way. I also don't know if I would have ever done it.'

'But at the end of the day I don't regret it. In many ways it was really empowering,' he added.
Locke's recent gigs include the Broadway revival of 'Sweeney Todd' and the Marvel miniseries 'Agatha All Along,' where he played Wanda Maxmimoff's (Elizabeth Olsen) son Billy.

The 21-year-old told Teen Vogue in 2023 that obsessed 'Heartstopper' fans stalked his family.
'It's a weird guilt I sometimes feel that, by association, their lives are affected by choices in my life,' Locke said. 'I need to learn my boundaries and people need to learn their boundaries.'

OUTLANDER star Sam Heughan is to play Macbeth in his debut with the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC). The British theatre company has announced its programme of events for 2025/2026, including a raft of plays that will be staged in Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of famous playwright William Shakespeare. In the RSC's latest version of Macbeth, Scottish actor Heughan, 45, known for playing Highland warrior Jamie Fraser in romance drama Outlander, will star opposite The Day Of The Jackal actress Lia Williams, as Lady Macbeth. 'Not only is Macbeth my favourite Shakespeare play: intense, immediate and unsettling, it also happens to be famously Scottish. 'I went on with my [filmmaking] career, but I had always wondered what happened to that guitar. 'I've been searching for this thing for 16 years now,' he told Billboard. 'I started searching everywhere. Norm's has this big warehouse of guitars and occasionally I'd go in and look for certain things, and every time I'm in there I was always looking around for [the 'Back to the Future' guitar], but to no avail.' 'We know it was returned to Norm's. At that time in the mid '80s there was a Japanese vintage guitar boom; charter buses of Japanese tourists were pulling up and buying everything in sight. So it could be someone has it in Japan. We don't know. The possibilities of where it could be are endless.' While the guitar's serial number is unknown, it has a unique feature, according to Agnesi: the solid inlay on the 12th fret, unlike the split ones that were standard on the ES-345 at the time. 'That anomaly is the smoking gun we're looking for, thank God,' he said. 'That will not be on any other guitar … That's how we'll know we've found the guitar we're looking for.' Look: Adult animated comedy 'Haunted Hotel' coming to Netflix Sept. 19
June 3 (UPI) -- Netflix announced Haunted Hotel, an adult animated comedy series from Rick and Morty writer Matt Roller, will debut Sept. 19 on the streaming service. The series will center on a single mother who runs Undervale, the titular haunted hotel, with help from her children and her estranged brother, who is one of the phantoms haunting the accommodation. The series is created by Roller, who also serves as executive producer and showrunner. Roller previously worked as a writer on series including Speechless, Community, Son of Zorn, Rick and Morty and Archer. He served as co-executive producer on series including Dan Harmon's Krapopolis, Tina Fey and Robert Carlock's Mr. Mayor and two seasons of The Goldbergs. "I'm thrilled to be working with Netflix and an amazingly talented cast and crew to bring to life the stories of the dead, the evil, and the struggling hospitality workers at the Undervale Hotel," Roller said in Netflix's announcement. The voice cast for Haunted Hotel includes Will Forte, Eliza Coupe, Skyler Gisondo, Natalie Palamides and Jimmi Simpson. The series debuts Sept. 19 on Netflix.
