The Las Vegas Raiders drafted two wide receivers during the 2025 NFL draft, one of which was Tennessee product, Dont'e Thornton.
Thornton was taken in the fourth round of April's draft, two rounds after Las Vegas took fellow wide receiver and TCU product, Jack Bech. Thornton began his college career at Oregon but transferred to Tennessee in 2023.
In his four years in college (two at Oregon, two at Tennessee), Thornton caught 65 passes for 1,426 yards and 10 touchdowns. Thornton finished his college career with 26 catches for 661 yards and six touchdowns.
How has Dont'e Thornton looked this offseason?
While Thornton was expected to be a project at the next level, he has actually proven to be ahead of schedule.
"Thornton was still thought to need plenty of polish to become a productive pro receiver," Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal said of Thornton during OTAs. "His college offense wasn't too sophisticated."
"At OTAs, however, his footwork at the line of scrimmage appeared more advanced than advertised and his route running looked crisp. He could be further along than suspected," Bonsignore concluded.
'Dont'e Thornton, the dude we drafted from Tennessee, the big receiver,' Raiders star Maxx Crosby said of Thornton after OTAs. '6-foot-4, another freak, I think he might be 6-foot-5. Runs a 4.30 (in the 40-yard dash)…. It's crazy because a kid like that, he had success in college, but he hasn't hit his full potential yet. Seeing him on the field and realizing what he can be, from a player perspective, is like holy s***, this dude could be something serious.'
Thornton has continued turning heads at training camp.
'Dont'e continues to do stuff… He's made tough catches over the middle. He's caught the slant routes where he's getting banged around. And he's comfortable with it,' head coach Pete Carroll said of the rookie during training camp.
Is Dont'e Thornton a starter?
Thanks to his impressive showing this offseason, Thornton was listed as a starter on the Raiders' first unofficial depth chart of 2025.

Report – Inter Milan Pursuit Of France Defender Suffers Fatal Blow As Bayer Leverkusen Strike Agreement With Sevilla

Inter Milan will reportedly lose out on the battle for the signature of Loic Bade, who is close to joining Bayer Leverkusen. According to RMC Sports via FCInterNews, the German heavyweights have agreed terms with Sevilla. Therefore, Loic Bade could soon be on his way to the BayArena to pen a multi-year contract. Indeed, the parties are negotiating a five-year deal, with the Frenchman set to depart Spain after two years. Meanwhile, Inter must turn to other targets. (Photo by) Despite Inter's interest, the 25-year-old is one step away from linking up with Erik ten Hag's side. Indeed, Los Rojiblancos have accepted Leverkusen's €30 million offer, including bonuses. Furthermore, the player seems enthusiastic about swapping a downtrodden Sevilla for Die Werkself. With Bade heading to the Bundesliga, Inter will explore other options in the market. Oumar Solet could be an exciting alternative, though Udinese's asking price remains uncertain.

Liverpool has clear transfer stance on Marc Guehi alternative amid Crystal Palace dilemma

Liverpool is not expected to pursue an alternative center-back target if Marc Guehi does not end up moving to Anfield before the end of the transfer window. The Athletic reports that the Reds view Guehi as an opportunistic prospective signing due to his contract situation at Palace, and believe securing a deal for him for the fee that they are willing to pay would represent good business. Liverpool signed the highly rated 18-year-old Giovanni Leoni from Parma last week, taking the number of center-backs in Arne Slot's squad back up to four — the same amount as last season. READ MORE: Liverpool transfer news as cult hero 'accelerates' exit after new signings READ MORE: 'I won trophies at Liverpool - but now my sons play for Manchester City' Jarell Quansah's move to Bayer Leverkusen at the beginning of July left Liverpool needing a replacement for the England international, and the acquisition of Leoni saw them fulfil that requirement. Liverpool is open to making Guehi the fifth center-back in Slot's squad but will only do so if the terms of the deal make financial sense. Palace is open to selling Guehi but there is reported by The Independent to be a $14 million difference in Liverpool's and Palace's valuations of the player. Liverpool is willing to pay $47 million to sign the 25-year-old but Palace is holding out for $61 million, despite Guehi having less than a year remaining on his contract at Selhurst Park. If Liverpool were to strike an agreement to sign Guehi, it would add some much-needed long-term stability in the center-back area of the squad. Ibrahima Konate's future beyond this season looks uncertain as he is due to be out of contract next summer, while Joe Gomez's fitness record means there are always concerns that his body could break down. Unlike another Liverpool transfer target — Alexander Isak — Guehi has not downed tools at his current club in a bid to force a move, and he received praise from Palace boss Oliver Glasner after the Eagles drew 0-0 with Chelsea on Sunday. 'There are a lot of rumors about Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi but they were 100% with this group in Crystal Palace and they have proved that in a big way,' Glasner said. 'It shows this group have got such great characters. We have no influence on all the noise and rumours around us. "But we know what we want to do and how we want to play. This is what we want to show every single game. 'The players did great today, they showed that everyone is 100% committed to Crystal Palace, otherwise it is not possible to get a draw here against a very good Chelsea side. You are talking about rumours.'

Report – Inter Milan Add Arsenal & Chelsea Defenders To Their List Of Targets

Serie A giants Inter Milan have reportedly taken the names of Jakub Kiwior and Trevoh Chalobah under consideration. According to Alfredo Pedulla via FCInter1908, the Nerazzurri will only make a move for them if they sell Benjamin Pavard. Pavard is on the market, yet Inter have failed to attract suitors for the French center-back. Indeed, Galatasaray and Neom have been in the mix, though they've never opened talks with the Italian club. Meanwhile, Udinese star Oumar Solet remains a concrete target for the San Siro outfit. (Photo by) Arsenal and Chelsea are open to selling Kiwior and Chalobah, respectively. Indeed, both players are on the fringes at their clubs. However, Inter must address Pavard's future first. Only after offloading the 29-year-old will the Nerazzurri consider moves for other defenders. Kiwior and Chalobah are not the only players on the list. In addition to the Premier League duo, Inter could negotiate another deal with Bayern Munich.
