Blades not in for McBurnie Sheffield United are not currently in the running to sign Oli McBurnie this summer. ‌ That's according to Football League World, who claim the 29-year-old is not viewed as priority target by the Blades this summer. ‌ McBurnie spent five years at Bramall Lane after completing a £17m move from Swansea City back in 2019. The striker is certainly on the radar in SA1, and it's understood he would be open to coming back should the opportunity arise. Article continues below However, the prospect of pulling on a Swans shirt again is likely to rest on finances, and that could prove a stumbling block. On Sunday, journalist Alan Nixon claimed Hull City and Spanish side Celta Vigo were also keeping a close eye on developments. Milan chief jets in for Modric talks AC Milan sporting director Igli Tare has been spotted on his way back from a trip to Croatia, having reportedly offered Luka Modric the chance to join the Serie A giants. ‌ Modric is set to bring the curtain down on an incredible 13-year stint at Real Madrid after the upcoming Club World Cup this summer, and speculation has already started to swirl over his next move. Despite investing in Swansea City, the prospect of him slotting into Alan Sheehan's midfield next season seems remote, but the 39-year-old is still keen to carry on playing for at least another year. According to Italian journalist Matteo Moretto, Modric has now been offered a 12-month deal with an added option. ‌ "The Milan sports director considers Modrić an important piece to start from, due to his experience and mentality," Moretto wrote on X. "We are waiting for the footballer's final yes." Content cannot be displayed without consent Cooper front-runner for Boro job Steve Cooper has emerged as the early front-runner to succeed Michael Carrick as Middlesbrough boss. ‌ Carrick was dismissed from his post on Wednesday, and the process of finding his successor has already begun. It's understood current Swans boss Sheehan was previously considered as a possible replacement before the Irishman's permanent appointment in south Wales, with Boro one of several clubs impressed by his work guiding City to what was a strong end to the season. Now, it seems former Swans manager Cooper could well be the man to take over, with our colleagues at GazetteLive stating the Welshman is "held in high regard by officials at the Riverside". ‌ Cooper's been out of work since leaving Leicester City, and reports elsewhere recently suggested he turned down several Championship roles in a bid to stay in the Premier League. Nevertheless, he could now be persuaded to take a role in the second tier this time around. Cabango - Allen farewell was emotional Ben Cabango admits he was emotional in saying farewell to Joe Allen, following the midfielder's decision to retire from football. ‌ Allen called time on his career at the end of the season, signing off at the age of 35, and team-mate Cabango says it was a call that was some time in the making. Sign up to our Swansea City newsletter here. "He did tell me earlier in the season, about halfway, that he was thinking about it," he revealed. "I thought because he started playing more consistently towards the end he might change his mind, but he said it was time to go. Article continues below "What a player, what a guy, and he will be missed at club and country." Allen's final game was a 3-3 draw at home to Oxford United on the final day of the Championship season, which also happened to be Kyle Naughton's final game in a Swans shirt. "The last game was emotional but it was a good send-off for Joe and Kyle [Naughton}," Cabango added.

Tijjani Reijnders is £46million Man City signing who worked in ALDI and is named after legendary winger

TRANSFER SUPERMARKET Tijjani Reijnders is £46million Man City signing who worked in ALDI and is named after legendary winger TIJJANI REIJNDERS is perfectly placed to lead Manchester City's £130million supermarket sweep. When the Netherlands international joined Milan he was asked about his rise to the top and said: "I recently noticed an article 'from amateur to AC Milan'. "But when I think about it, I like 'from Aldi to AC Milan' even better!" Aldi to Manchester City will have an even better ring to it for Guardiola's new midfield general. READ MORE ON FOOTBALL GUNNER GO Arsenal release 17 players as Sterling and Partey learn their fate It is quite the challenge for the midfielder, though he arrives with some stellar references. Milan and Netherlands great Frank Rijkaard is convinced Reijnders is destined for the top. Speaking earlier this season, he said: "I hope that Reijnders becomes one of the best midfielders in the world… I sincerely believe he's already on the right path. "I really like his style of play. He can cover all roles in the midfield and shows his generosity: he never holds back from a run for the team and always gives his best. CASINO SPECIAL - BEST CASINO BONUSES FROM £10 DEPOSITS "With the quality he has, he's excellent at creating dangerous chances for his teammates and setting up the play well." Reijnders can bring a bit of everything to a Manchester City midfield in need of a shot in the arm. Kevin De Bruyne given emotional Etihad send off as Man City take huge leap towards return to Champions League The former AZ Alkmaar man made more interceptions than any other midfielder in Serie A this season as well as creating the most chances from open play. He may not have the craft of De Bruyne when it comes to creating chances - there are few, if any, who do - but Reijnders can also find the back of the net. Milan's maestro bagged 15 goals from midfield this term - two more than any other midfielder in the Italian top flight. Reijnders' path to the top has been carefully plotted, aided by his father and agent, Martin - a former player himself who was a team-mate of Jaap Stam at Dutch side Zwolle. The family clearly planned a footballing career for their son from day one, naming him Tijjani after former Nigerian winger, Tijani Babangida. Younger brother Eliano also plays for his father's former side, Zwolle. Martin revealed after sealing Tijjani's move to Milan that the pair had decided to turn down Barcelona in order to join the Rossoneri. Barca were on the lookout for an heir to Sergio Busquets and Reijnders' father made the brave and bold decision to tell his son that he was not quite up to the task. 11 Reijnders' parents named their son after former Ajax and Nigeria winger Tijani Babangida Credit: Getty 11 His brother Eliano plays for Zwolle Credit: Alamy 11 Reijnders is hoping to fill the void left behind by Kevin De Bruyne Credit: instagram @tijjanireijnders He told Dutch outlet Algemeen Dagblad: "I immediately told Tijjani, 'You are not that type of player. Before you know it, you'll end up on the bench. And you'd become yet another player who fails abroad.'" There was Premier League interest two years ago, but Reijnders has rapidly developed in Milan and now feels prepared to take his biggest step yet. As well as carefully planning his progression, Reijnders has studied fellow players to add as much to his game as possible. Speaking to The Athletic, Reijnders said: 'When I got older, I looked a lot at Kevin De Bruyne. I watched his games, YouTube clips. 'Especially the way he was scanning the pitch before he gets the ball so he always knows where the space is. "I try to do the same.' Before looking to add elements of De Bruyne to his game, City's new man carefully studied another Guardiola stalwart in Andres Iniesta. There are few deals which can be a sure thing, not every signing is as obvious as Erling Haaland. But in Reijnders, Manchester City look to have identified a player capable of grabbing hold of a game who is primed to slot straight into a Guardiola side. 11 Reijnders has an eye for goal Credit: Getty 11 He is married to Marina Credit: instagram @tijjanireijnders 11 They welcomed baby son Xavien in February 2024 Credit: instagram @tijjanireijnders 11 The family regularly post snaps on social media Credit: instagram @tijjanireijnders
