Jet2 announce major change to transfer services for millions of passengers

Daily Record22-05-2025

The holiday company announced customers will be able to access technology for real time updayes
Jet2holidays has become the first UK tour operator to introduce real time updates for passengers being transferred back to the airport after their holiday. The new service, called Live Transfer Status, will allow customers to track their coach transfer to their departure airport.
It will mean those holidaymakers waiting at hotels and apartments for their transfer coach will be able to see where their driver is in real time. Jet2 hopes it will give their customers added reassurance and reduce calls to their customer information lines.

Live Transfer Status will be available for all passengers taking a coach transfer back to their departure airport.

And the service will be available for destinations in the Balearics, Canaries, Mainland Spain, Morocco, Turkey and Bulgaria.
Customers can access the service via its app and it will provide them with pick up location, expected pick up time and updates if there are delays.
They will also be able to see where the coach is at any given time and the driver's name as well as the vehicle licence plate number.
The information will be available from 30 minutes before their departure pick up time.

Passengers will be alerted via a Live Transfer Status beacon which will flash on the app. They then simply click it to view the information in real-time.
Jet2 started to roll out the technology this month and said they have already seen a significant reduction in call volumes.
Customers phoning to find out where there transfer coach is is one of the biggest call drivers across the travel industry.

At the moment, Live Transfer Status is not available in Greece. But the company says they hope more destinations will be included for summer 2026.
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2holidays said: 'With millions of customers travelling on hundreds of thousands of coach transfers with Jet2holidays every year, our pioneering Live Transfer functionality is a real game-changer for us and for our customers.
"By providing customers with more real-time information about their coach transfer to the departure airport it means a hassle-free end to their holidays, which in turn is already resulting in far fewer calls to our contact centre and to our independent travel agent partners.

"A lot of hard work has gone into new innovation and we are already receiving outstanding feedback from customers who are telling us how fantastic it is.
"This is another significant investment into delivering our VIP customer service, and I would like to thank our key partners and transfer suppliers for their role in its success.'
In addition to announcing 'Live Transfer Status' for customers returning to their departure airport, Jet2holidays has also launched new functionality via its app which gives customers coach transfer information, including coach number and parking location, when they arrive into destination.

Take a culinary tour of the Costa Dorada: from traditional eats to haute cuisine

Stretching along the Mediterranean, the Costa Dorada (locally known as Costa Daurada) is not only beautiful but has a reputation for seriously delicious cuisine. Thanks to its proximity to the water, seafood is a highlight. But its mountainous inland terrain also offers up a wide variety of meat and vegetables, as well as a wonderful terroir for a wealth of wine varieties. What's more, with Jet2holidays flying to the Costa Dorada from 12 UK airports and a range of two to five-star accommodation, it's easy to plan your next culinary adventure. Jet2holidays is always giving you more, to help make planning and booking as smooth as possible. That goes for the PayPal Pay in 3 interest-free payments** option, as well as the 22kg baggage and 10kg hand luggage, and return transfers† that are included. Look out for Free Child Places***, and infants under two go free‡. From great eateries and foodie experiences to the best local dishes to try, here's what you can look forward to on your gastronomic travels… Delicious traditional dishes Begin your travels with a journey around some of the region's most delicious traditional dishes. Like xató; originating from Tarragona, it's made with escarole (similar to an endive), tomato and salt cod or tuna, and served with a sauce made from almonds and ñoras (dried peppers).Another popular fish-based dish is suquet de peix, a tasty stew which features a variety of seafood and vegetables. Meanwhile, many menus also offer the likes of arròs caldós, a soupy rice dish, rossejat, a seafood pasta dish, and mar i muntanya, which combines seafood and meat, reflecting the region's 'sea and mountain' cuisine. You'll find all these, and more, in local restaurants in some of the region's most charming locations, all around Costa Dorada, or look out for them on the menu at one of the restaurant options at your Jet2holidays hotel. Fabulous foodie experiences Time your visit for a calçotada, a festive Catalan gathering held between November and April, where people celebrate the harvest of calçots (a type of large, sweet onion). It's usually served grilled with romesco, sauce, accompanied by meat and wine. For a truly authentic experience, head to Valls, the birthplace of the tradition. Olive oil is also a revered ingredient in the Costa Dorada; going back to ancient times, olive cultivation is a key part of the region's Mediterranean heritage. Centres, museums and historical mills offer tours combined with tastings, walks among olive groves and gastronomic menus with lashings of olive oil. Head to the Olive Oil Interpretation Centre in Vandellòs, located in an old olive mill, where you'll observe everything about the production process, from harvesting to bottling. Or follow the Priorat olive oil route, which offers 26 different experiences aimed at discovering and tasting the finest extra virgin oil. There's even an olive oil cycling route, which meanders through the region of Baix Camp, just 20 minutes from Tarragona. It produces one of Catalonia's most famous olive oils under the DOP Siurana. Finally, don't miss a trip to the nearby village of Riudecanyes, dotted with many olive trees that are over 100 years old. The world of wine (and vermouth) The Costa Dorada promotes enogastronomy, the art of pairing wine with food, so you'll always have something delicious to drink alongside your meal. The whole area, particularly the DOQ (Denominació d'Origen Qualificada) Priorat region, is known for great wine, especially robust reds. But you'll also find fabulous red, white and rosé wines from the Designations of Origin Montsant, Tarragona, Conca de Barberà, and Penedès. Embark on a wine trail through Priorat, to discover grape varieties such as Carignan, Grenache and Grenache blanc. Take tours through vineyards, learn about the wine-making process and, most importantly, enjoy tastings. Close to Priorat area, Conca de Barberà, produces light red and fruity rosés; while closer to the coast, Penedés is famous for its sparkling Cava. Moreover, the Costa Dorada – particularly the elegant city of Reus, birthplace of legendary architect Antoni Gaudí – is also known for vermouth, a sweet, aromatic fortified wine flavoured with botanicals, herbs and spices. Find out more at the city's Vermouth Museum, dedicated to the culture of this unique drink with a collection of over 6,500 items related to it. Then set out on the Reus Vermouth Route. This features dozens of establishments which either serve it or are connected to its history, including its incredible modernist architecture. Eateries for everyone The Costa Dorada brims with producers and professionals who pride themselves on showcasing the region's gastronomy. Many also make sure they only offer local products – known as the 'Slow food kilometre zero' initiative. You'll also find plenty of fantastic restaurants which serve locally-sourced dishes which prioritise local and organic farming and use seasonal ingredients. This way, you're connected to tradition and authenticity by what's on your plate. If you're looking for even more elevated cuisine, head to Cambrils – known as the gastronomic capital of the Costa Dorada, with two Michelin-starred restaurants alone. Or you could venture to Salou or Cornudella de Montsant for some out-of-this-world fine dining. At your Jet2holidays hotel, make sure you delve into the diverse cuisines and speciality dishes on offer, as well as the ever-changing live chef stations and in-house pop-ups. And if you're planning to take a taste of the Costa Dorada back home, make sure you visit local producers for excellent sweets, jams, rice, vinegar, hazelnuts and more. There's also a wealth of great places for families to eat out. Head to Salou for fab ice cream parlours, ideal for hot, sunny days, or to Cambrils for buffet-style eateries, where every family member can choose exactly what they want. Reus has a selection of brilliant local markets, such as the Mercat Central and the Mercat del Carrilet, where you can purchase traditional produce, from meats and cheeses to delicious bread, to take to the beach for the perfect picnic. With Jet2holidays, you can book your trip to the Costa Dorada with lots of package perks thrown into make getting away even easier. Baggage rules Here's the key information you need to know about regarding some of the key airlines operating in the UK. Ryanair All Ryanair passengers can bring a small personal bag on board but this must fit under the seat in front of you. It must be no bigger than 40cm x 20cm x 25cm. All over-sized cabin bags will be refused at the boarding gate, or where available put in the hold for a fee. Anyone wanting to bring another bag, you'll need to upgrade and pay extra for priority and two cabin bags or checked baggage. EasyJet The budget airline allows each person to bring a small cabin bag on board. It can be no larger than 45cm x 36cm x 20cm, this includes any handles or wheels, and it needs to be able to fit under the seat in front of you. The bag can weigh up to 15kg but easyJet says you must be able to lift and carry it yourself. Any bag larger than the limit, or any additional bags will be put in the hold and you'll have to pay an airport bag fee. Jet2 Passengers can also bring on board one piece of hand luggage when flying with Jet2, free of charge. It must not weigh more than 10kg and can't be any bigger than 56cm x 45cm x 25cm, including any wheels and handles. If your hand luggage is larger or weighs more, it will have to be put into the aircraft's hold, which might incur an additional charge. Travellers can also bring a small, personal item on board with them, such as a handbag, laptop case or a purchase made at the airport, but this has to be placed underneath the seat in front of you. British Airways All British Airways passengers can carry one piece of hand luggage and one small item on board. The hand luggage must not be bigger than 56cm x 45cm x 25cm while the small item cannot exceed 40cm x 30cm x15cm. TUI People flying with TUI can bring on board one piece of hand luggage, weighing no more than 10kg for free. It must be no larger than 55cm x 40cm x 20cm and you must be able to lift your hand luggage into an overhead storage compartment by yourself. Items such as laptops, handbags and any item bought at the airport must be small enough to be stored under your seat. Wizz Air Wizz Air passengers can only take a small cabin bag for free onto the plane. Bags must be no more than 10kg, and measure no more than 40cm x 30cm x 20cm. Verdict Sports Direct comes out on top for the cheapest branded cabin case at just £14.99, while its £64 three-piece set is ideal for families or longer trips. If you're just after a single case, Dunelm offer solid one-off buys, while Matalan and Home Bargains are perfect if you want to pick and mix sizes. However, if you're after something that's compatible for Easy Jet, Jet2 and RyanAir, you'll want to head on over to Amazon. For overall value, Debenhams' £59.25 three-piece set is hard to beat – especially for shoppers after a full matching bundle without breaking the bank. Just remember – prices are correct at the time of writing but can change quickly, so it's worth snapping up a deal before it wheels away. How to compare prices While all these deals are solid, it's important to remember that not every 'sale' price is actually a bargain. That's where price comparison tools can come in handy. Websites like Google Shopping let you type in a product name or model number to instantly compare prices across dozens of retailers. How to bag a bargain SUN Savers Editor Lana Clements explains how to find a cut-price item and bag a bargain… Sign up to loyalty schemes of the brands that you regularly shop with. Big names regularly offer discounts or special lower prices for members, among other perks. Sales are when you can pick up a real steal. Sign up to mailing lists and you'll also be first to know of special offers. It can be worth following retailers on social media too. When buying online, always do a search for money off codes or vouchers that you can use and are just two sites that round up promotions by retailer. Scanner apps are useful to have on your phone. app has a scanner that you can use to compare prices on branded items when out shopping. Bargain hunters can also use B&M's scanner in the app to find discounts in-store before staff have marked them out. And always check if you can get cashback before paying which in effect means you'll get some of your money back or a discount on the item. PriceSpy is great if you want to look at a product's price history – it tracks prices from over 3,000 stores including Amazon, Argos and the major supermarkets. Idealo works in a similar way and ranks products from the cheapest to the most expensive, while CamelCamelCamel focuses on Amazon deals specifically, showing you how prices have changed over time. Just don't forget to factor in delivery fees and check stock before heading to stores to avoid disappointment.
