Josh Jacobs becomes third Packers player on 'NFL Top 100 Players' list for 2025
Pro Bowl running back Josh Jacobs became the third member of the Green Bay Packers to land on the "NFL Top 100 Players" list for the 2025 season. Jacobs, who came in at No. 33, joins quarterback Jordan Love (No. 68) and defensive end Rashan Gary (No. 80) on the list. During his first season in Green Bay, Jacobs rushed for 1,329 yards (sixth in NFL) and 15 touchdowns (fourth). Counting receiving stats, Jacobs had 1,671 total yards (sixth) and 16 touchdowns (fifth) across 17 games. He was a Pro Bowler the third time in his career and finished 11th in the NFL Offensive Player of the Year voting at the Associated Press. Among the players helping present Jacobs on the list are Bijan Robinson and Xavier McKinney: From NFL Pro: "Josh Jacobs gained 893 yards and scored 10 times on carries directed between the tackles this season, both of which are the most among running backs. Of those 893 yards, 686 of them came after contact, more than the total rushing yards of all but five other players on carries directed between the tackles." Jacobs wasn't ranked last year after an injury-plagued 2023 season with the Las Vegas Raiders. He peaked at No. 12 on the list after he led the NFL in rushing yards (1,683) in 2022. It's likely Jacobs isn't the final Packer on the list. McKinney, an All-Pro at safety during his first season in Green Bay, still hasn't been announced.

Surprise AFC East Team Joins Bills In Colin Cowherd's Playoff Predictions
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Opening night of the NFL season is right around the corner. In just three short weeks, the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles will kick off the NFL season. Seventeen games for each team will shape the playoff field and one analyst believes that two teams will represent the AFC East during the postseason. FOXBOROUGH, MASSACHUSETTS - JANUARY 5: James Cook #4 of the Buffalo Bills rushes with the ball against the New England Patriots during the first quarter at the Gillette Stadium on January 5, 2025 in Foxborough,... FOXBOROUGH, MASSACHUSETTS - JANUARY 5: James Cook #4 of the Buffalo Bills rushes with the ball against the New England Patriots during the first quarter at the Gillette Stadium on January 5, 2025 in Foxborough, Massachusetts. The Patriots won 23-16. MoreWhile revealing his season predictions on his daily show, "The Herd," Fox Sports' Colin Cowherd predicted both the Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots will reach the playoffs. "Bills are gonna win it. Patriots are my most improved team in the NFL," Cowherd said when discussing the division. They'll be a wild card team. They've had a very good camp," he said when discussing New England. .@colincowherd lays out the winners and losers in his FINAL NFL Playoff predictions. — Herd w/Colin Cowherd (@TheHerd) August 13, 2025 The Patriots may have very well had the best offseason of any team in the NFL. That started with the hire of well-respected head coach and former New England player Mike Vrabel. Vrabel has a reputation for playing hard-nosed, smash-mouth football and that is exactly what the Patriots needed after a 4-13 season under Jerrod Mayo. Mike Vrabel's final answer today: 'We're going to be moving. We're going to demand effort and finish. People ask what non-negotiables are — our effort and our finish is going to be the contract we make with our teammates … Time to get to work.' — Mike Reiss (@MikeReiss) January 13, 2025 As for the Bills, they have the reigning MVP in Josh Allen and are expected to be among the best teams not only in the AFC, but in the entire league. A postseason appearance for Buffalo would be its seventh straight trip to the playoffs and eighth trip in the last nine seasons. For New England, a postseason birth would be just its second since the departure of Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady. If any head coach can get the Patriots back to relevancy, it is Vrabel. It would not be surprising in the slightest to see them go 10-7 this season. More NFL: Patriots Announcement Seen as Precursor to Shake-Up in Backfield

Former NFL QB Makes Bold Jaxson Dart Call After Giants Debut
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Following his first performance of the NFL Preseason, New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart has been gaining a lot of support from fans and analysts based on what he put on display. Former NFL quarterback Chase Daniel broke down some film of Dart's debut and pointed to the promising signs the former Ole Miss star showed during his first set of action. "Watch Jaxson Dart right here, watch his left hand, check to this. Look at that, we didn't see that. That's what I'm talking about, he checked to it. He checked to this go route, a perfectly thrown football. That's what I'm talking about," Daniel said, reviewing Dart's first touchdown throw at the NFL level. "Big time," he continued. "Calling your own shot, getting smoked, throwing a freaking touchdown like this. Not a great rep by 63. Hey, sometimes, you know what? You're gonna get hit, get that ball out, you can't throw it any better than this. Okay, on the ground. Let's go! he checked to it!" More Bryan M. Bennett/Getty Images Dart's first touchdown throw, a 29-yard pass to the end zone to LJ Humphrey, was his only of the matchup against the Buffalo Bills last Saturday afternoon. He finished the game by completing 12 of his 19 passes for nearly 160 yards. Seeing Dart come in early, following the Giants' QB1 Russell Wilson, Daniel tosses out his bold opinion regarding the rookie. via @ChaseDaniel: THIS Is Why Jaxson Dart Should Start. Dart checks to the go route in his first game ever while taking a massive hit. Perfect THIS Is Why Jaxson Dart Should Start Dart checks to the go route in his first game ever while taking a massive hit. Perfect — Chase Daniel (@ChaseDaniel) August 11, 2025 As a first-round draft selection, Dart would typically get the nod to play on a team right away, being a high investment. But the Giants plan to compete for a playoff spot in 2025. Rolling out a rookie isn't in the plan for the time being. Instead, the Giants are going to bet on Russell Wilson. As the veteran wrapped up his lone season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Wilson believes he can be a difference-maker in New York, offering much more stability than last year. While the chances of Dart getting regular-season reps aren't set at zero percent, he isn't expected to get any playing time beyond the preseason as of now. Dart's ability to get on the field when the games count will all depend on Wilson's performance. For more New York Giants and NFL news, head over to Newsweek Sports.
