CAIRO, July 2 (MENA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty received on Wednesday a phone call from his Italian counterpart Antonio Tajani during which they reaffirmed the strong relations between Egypt and Italy.
During the talks, the two ministers discussed regional developments, especially in Gaza.
For his part, Abdelatty outlined Egypt's coordination with Qatar and the US to reach a ceasefire and secure the release of hostages.
He also stressed the urgent need for unimpeded humanitarian, medical, and relief aid into Gaza.
The minister mentioned Egypt's plan to host an international conference on Gaza's early recovery and reconstruction once a ceasefire is in place.
Additionally, the top diplomat called for Israel and Iran to commit to a ceasefire and urged regional and international efforts to support de-escalation and diplomacy. (MENA)

CAIRO, July 3 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty stressed during a phone call Thursday with French Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot the need for the international community to shoulder its responsibilities to stop the Israeli aggression on Gaza and the West Bank. The call also addressed the latest regional developments and ways to strengthen the strategic relations between the two friendly countries, foreign ministry spokesman Tamim Khalaf said. The two ministers affirmed their joint commitment to enhancing all aspects of bilateral relations and elevating them to broader horizons, in light of the strategic partnership between the two countries, he added. According to Khalaf, Abdelatty discussed with his French counterpart the developments in the Gaza Strip, efforts aimed at resuming and sustaining Gaza ceasefire and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian and relief aid, referring to Egypt's aspiration to host an international conference on early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza after reaching a ceasefire. The top diplomat emphasized the gravity of the situation in the West Bank amid continued military raids, arrests, and the expansion of illegal settlement construction, said the spokesman. Abdelatty also stressed the need to achieve a just and sustainable settlement of the Palestinian issue, through the implementation of the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with Al-Quds (East Jerusalem) as its capital, he added. The two sides agreed on the need for both Israel and Iran to commit to a ceasefire and for regional and international efforts to be combined to consolidate the de-escalation agreement and open the way for diplomatic efforts that would help achieve regional security and stability, the spokesman said. The pair stressed their keenness to hold the joint military committee on a regular basis, as they explored prospects for cooperation between Egypt and Tunisia in the defense area, particularly in light of shared global and regional threats and challenges, notably the escalating crises in parts of the Arab world and the Sahel-Sahara region, according to a statement released by the Foreign Ministry on Thursday. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty discussed on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, over phone with US President's Special Envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, the latest developments on the ceasefire in Gaza, in light of the intensive communications currently being conducted by Egypt and Qatar. Minister Abdelatty emphasized the urgent need to resume the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and to ensure the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian, relief, and medical aid. Both sides agreed to maintain ongoing communication and coordination, and to intensify efforts in the coming days to reach a ceasefire agreement. Separately, Minister Abdelatty reviewed the results of Egypt's extensive contacts with the parties concerned to stabilize the ceasefire between Israel and Iran. He stressed the importance of resuming negotiations on the Iranian nuclear program and the commitment of both Israel and Iran to the ceasefire, in order to reduce tensions and developments and to create space for a diplomatic path. The Foreign Minister affirmed Egypt's full support for all efforts aimed at achieving security and stability in the Middle East.
