Korean woman runs into trouble in Turkey for showing peace sign: ‘As a Turkish, I never heard that sign is banned'

It is not uncommon for people to show a peace sign while taking selfies or making reels. That is what this Korean woman was doing while visiting Turkey, but it led to her getting a warning from the authorities, who told her that the particular sign is banned in the country. The video, however, has sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some Turkish people claiming they have never heard about the ban on the sign. A Korean content creator who got a warning for showing a peace sign. (Instagram/@tyongeee) South Korean content creator Tyongee posted the video on Instagram. She wrote, 'I did not know at all! It's amazing how I get to learn a new culture and manner whenever I travel.' In the video, she poses for a selfie while showing the peace sign. However, two men instantly call her out and tell her that the sign is banned in Turkey and that she shouldn't flash it. When asked why, one of the men says, 'In your culture, it means peace, but unfortunately in Turkey, it is raised about terrorism,' leaving the Korean woman visibly shocked. Curious, Tyongee asks the men if a mini heart sign is allowed, and they say that she can flash that popular sign. Social media had a lot to say: While many expressed surprise, some claiming to be Turkish said they were unaware of the sign ban. An individual posted, 'I like that they actually explained to her very calmly.' Another asked, 'But why is it related to terrorism?' An individual replied, 'This symbol is frequently used by the terrorist organisation called the PKK, which has caused the deaths of many civilians in Turkey. Because of this, it may provoke negative reactions from civilians in Turkey.' A third remarked, 'As a Turkish, I have never heard that a sign is banned. They just made it up... It must be their personal thoughts. We use it and it's super common.' A fourth wrote, 'They were respectful, and the girl was respectful. That's how people should talk every time.'

War 2 Box Office Day 4: Hrithik Roshan-Jr NTR Film Drops To Rs 31 Crore, Lowest Since Release

Last Updated: War 2 box office day 4: Hrithik Roshan–Jr NTR starrer drops to Rs 31 crore on Sunday, marking a 40% fall from its opening day. War 2 released on August 14. War 2 Box Office Collection Day 4: War 2 had a thunderous start at the box office, but its momentum slowed sharply by the end of its first weekend. The Hrithik Roshan–Jr NTR action thriller, part of the YRF Spy Universe, hit a big dip on Sunday, collecting an estimated Rs 31 crore (India net), its lowest figure since release on August 14. War 2 Opening weekend numbers The sequel opened strong at Rs 52.5 crore on day one and peaked further on Friday at Rs 57.35 crore. However, Saturday's numbers slipped to Rs 33.25 crore, followed by a steeper fall on Sunday. In comparison, Siddharth Anand's 2019 War had brought in ₹37.5 crore on its first Sunday – higher than the sequel despite releasing mid-week. War 2 Occupancy and regional splits On day four, War 2 recorded 27.85% occupancy for its Hindi 2D version. Tamil shows stood stronger at 42.96%, while Telugu screenings registered 30.12%. By Saturday, the film had already crossed Rs 215 crore worldwide, including ₹142.6 crore net from India. The Hindi version contributed Rs 99.5 crore, while Tamil and Telugu earned Rs 90 lakh and Rs 42.2 crore respectively. Overseas collections added around ₹45 crore. War 2 Reviews And Rating The action entertainer, directed by Ayan Mukerji, is mounted on a reported Rs 300–400 crore budget with Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani leading the cast. But despite its scale, reviews have been largely unfavourable. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh rated the film just 1.5 stars, writing, 'Weakest film in #YRFSpyUniverse… Has star power, scale, style, stunts – but lacks soul… Writing is the biggest culprit here… Not even #HrithikRoshan and #NTR can save this royal mess." Can War 2 catch up? War (2019) remains Hrithik Roshan's highest grosser with Rs 319 crore lifetime earnings. With War 2 already crossing the Rs 200 crore mark globally, the big question is whether it can recover from its early dip and get close to that benchmark. Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR's War 2 News18 Review News18 Showsha rated War 2 with a 2.5/5 stars. An excerpt from our review read: 'At 2 hours 50 minutes, War 2 tries to go full throttle but often skids into chaos. A thriller of this scale definitely needed crisper editing. Instead, what we get is a bunch of long-drawn flashbacks that dilute the pace, stripping the film of any solid edge-of-the-seat, nail-biting moment. But what needs to be truly spoken about are its action sequences. One thing is clear – Kabir and Vikram/Rahu are immortal. Nothing can kill them. Bullets, swords, fire, icicles, nothing. Most importantly, they can fly. They fly over land and water." First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive. Coolie Box Office Collection: Rajinikanth's Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, opened to a record-breaking reception at the box office on August 14. With massive bookings ahead of release, the film grossed around Rs 150 crore worldwide on its first day, making it the highest-opening Tamil film ever. On its first Sunday, the film minted Rs 35 crore. As per the report published by Sacnilk, Coolie earned Rs 35 crore in India (net) on its fourth day for all languages. This brings the film's total domestic total to Rs 194.25 crore. This film is slowly inching towards the Rs 200 crore mark and will likely hit it today. Coolie had an overall 63.75% Tamil occupancy on Sunday, August 17, 2025. Theatres in Chennai, Trichy, Dindigul and Coimbatore saw the most footfall. It had an overall 41.98% Hindi occupancy on Sunday, with Hyderabad, Bangalore and Lucknow leading the charge. As for Telugu, Coolie had an overall 49.53% occupancy. Rajinikanth's fans in Chennai and Hyderabad rushed to theatres in large numbers. Coolie Worldwide Box Office Collection Despite a dip in the figures, Coolie has maintained strong ticket sales. Overseas, the film earned over $12 million in the first two days and crossed $15 million by the third day. Overall, Coolie's worldwide gross has crossed Rs 320 crore, setting a new milestone for Tamil cinema in 2025. Analysts predict the film could reach Rs 600 crore worldwide, challenging Rajinikanth's own records with 2.0 and Jailer. Only three Tamil films have ever crossed this mark, with Rajinikanth leading with two and Vijay's Leo in the third. The film's phenomenal box office performance comes despite mixed reviews from critics, proving Rajinikanth's stardom. Coolie also arrives at a significant milestone in Rajinikanth's career, celebrating 50 years of his unmatched stardom. Coolie is also facing intense competition from Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR's War 2, but has managed to stay ahead of the film since they were released. However, in order to enter the Rs 600 crore club, the film needs to hold its own in its second and third weeks. Coolie Review The climax, which includes Aamir Khan's cameo and several unexpected twists, has become a major talking point. News18 Showsha's review praised the spectacle, stating, 'The climax is packed not just with action, but the famous cameo appearance by Aamir Khan. The plot twists don't end there. Wait till you watch the tail-end scene to be taken back in time. Overall, Lokesh Kanagaraj has managed to bring a banger to the theatres that need to be enjoyed on the big screen with a hall filled with Rajini fans." News18 Showsha gave the film 4/5 stars.
