'A proper f****** rock band': Chrissie Hynde had the best time seeing Oasis live with pal Johnny Marr
The Pretenders frontwoman attended one of the Britpop legends' Wembley Stadium gigs with old bandmate Johnny Marr, and also bumped into supermodel Kate Moss - who, she says, "missed her calling" as a singer.
Updating fans on Instagram , she penned: 'James and I went with @johnnymarrgram to see @oasis the other week.
They were great as one would expect.'
Praising support act Richard Ashcroft, she said: 'Saw a bunch of old pals in the audience and was dancing with Kate Moss to support act, the excellent voiced @richardashcroftofficial."
She continued: 'I always remind Kate that she missed her calling, and could've been a singer. She reminded me that, 'For me, it was either Woolworths or modelling.' Because Kate rarely does interviews (unlike every other celebrity on the planet) people don't know what a riot she is. Well, she is, and now you know…'
Moving on to the main event, the 73-year-old rocker hailed the Supersonic hitmakers - who are playing their first concerts in 16 years, after brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher put their long-standing feud behind them - "a proper f****** rock band".
She said: 'Oasis were in great form.
'There is still nothing better than a rock band doing their thing with a minimal light show and no extra people cluttering the stage. In other words, a proper f****** rock band! Exactly what the world needs now.'

Darius Campbell Danesh' ex-wife remembers him on third anniversary of death
Darius Campbell Danesh' ex-wife, Natasha Henstridge, has paid tribute to the late singer on the third anniversary of his death. The former Pop Idol contestant passed away at the age of 41 in August 2022 after inhaling chloroethane - also known as ethyl chloride - at his Minnesota apartment. Three years on from the tragedy, the 50-year-old Canadian actress - who filed for divorce from the Colourblind hitmaker in 2013, after just over two years of marriage - has admitted she still misses him dearly. Alongside a series of pictures of Darius, including one of the couple posing in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, she penned on Instagram on August 11: "Love and light always. Miss you today…. Sending love to the Danesh's and everyone whose life he touched." According to his girlfriend, Darius had been "living with a broken neck" and an undiagnosed heart condition when he died. Lauren Cheek explained that an autopsy revealed that his heart was "twice the size" it should have been and that she believes he used the recreational anaesthetic to alleviate the pain. She told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: "Darius was living with this heart condition that he didn't know he had. So many things could have taken him, but this one thing did, and he died in his sleep. "His mum told me they only found out after they did the autopsy. His heart was twice the size it was supposed to be, which was fitting, because that is genuinely how he was — he had so much love. "The autopsy also found he was living with a broken neck, but he refused to get help or complain about it. I think he used (chloroethane) because he was in so much pain and he didn't want to take pills, not even aspirin. That's what killed him — the substance mixed with his heart and he couldn't take it." Lauren went on to add that Darius - who shot to fame when he gave a memorable rendition of Britney Spears' hit '...Baby One More Time' on the ITV talent show Popstars before releasing a string of hit singles and eventually going on to star in the West End - had sustained his injuries whilst racing with Hollywood actor Gerard Butler and always "refused" when she urged him to see a doctor. She added: "He was with Gerry (Butler) in Monaco for the Grand Prix and they slammed into a wall during a race with the Prince of Monaco. I don't think it ever fully healed and then he rebroke it because he got hit by a car in London a year or two before he died when he was riding a bike. "And then he got into a car accident with his dad in Scotland. D was in the passenger seat, his dad was driving and someone drove into them. "He was always in pain and I would beg him to see the doctor, but he refused. He was trying to find a natural remedy.'

Bindi Irwin gives emotional health update after endometriosis surgery
Bindi Irwin has had her appendix and '51 endometriosis lesions' removed. The 27-year-old Australian star — the daughter of late Crocodile Hunter legend Steve Irwin — has given an update amid her long battle with endometriosis following her diagnosis in 2023, which came after a decade of chronic pain. She wrote on Instagram this week alongside a smiling selfie: '13 years of fighting for answers. '51 endometriosis lesions, a chocolate cyst, and my appendix were all removed across two surgeries with @seckinmd. 'My hernia from giving birth that was unzipping — was taken care of. 'I can FINALLY say that I'm feeling better. Genuinely healing.' Endometriosis is a disease where abnormal tissue grows outside the uterus. Irwin underwent emergency surgery in May, which meant she missed a gala honouring her father, who died in 2006. Now, she added that after her health struggles — which she's been very candid about with fans — she's finally able to 'function' again. 'I cannot express the gravity of my emotions as I am beginning to recognise myself again. 'I felt utterly ashamed as a teenager and young adult being told that my pain was just part of being a woman. 'I felt lesser. I felt hurt. I felt weak. That is not OK.' The conservationist and activist — who has daughter Grace Warrior, four, with husband Chandler Powell — is keen to get rid of the 'stigma' around conversations about women's health and health care. Bindi missed her late dad's annual gala in May after rupturing her appendix, and her brother Robert explained her absence at the time. He told People magazine: 'She's going to be OK, but surgery — out of all the things we were ready for, that was not one of them. She's just come out the other side of endometriosis and now the appendix goes. Health is so important — it really is.'

Chrissie Hynde announces Duets Special album
Chrissie Hynde has announced the new album Duets Special. The Pretenders frontwoman will team up with a host of music stars for 13 extraordinary duets on the new record that will be released on October 17. Chrissie's new album features collaborations with k.d. lang, the late Mark Lanegan, Dave Gahan, Cat Power, Brandon Flowers, Debbie Harry, Shirley Manson, Alan Sparhawk and many more. The record's first single, Always On My Mind featuring Rufus Wainwright, was released on Wednesday (13.08.25). Discussing the origins of the album and the new track, Chrissie said: "I never thought about doing a Duets album before. "I think the idea came about in 2023. I was talking to Jörn, Rufus Wainwright's husband, on the phone. I think we were recommending novels to each other and for some reason I said hey, maybe Rufus and I should do something, and quickly scribbled out 10 songs off the top of my head. "So Jörn asked Rufus, who was up for it, and that's how it started. A spontaneous and what I thought would be a fun thing." The artists who perform with Chrissie, 73, on Duets Special celebrate 13 uniquely distinct voices through stripped-down, intimate arrangements and minimal, refined instrumentation. The tracks are all connected by the theme of great melodies. Hynde was one of the founding members of The Pretenders in 1978 but confessed earlier this year that she doesn't regard herself as a "great musician" despite her long and successful career in the business. The Don't Get Me Wrong singer said: "I'm not going to be self-effacing, but I'm not a great musician, I know that. "Well, because when I first started playing, I was too shy to go with the guys in the art room and play so I just had this foresight, like most people who end up writing songs, just to be on my own and write something." Duets Special Album Tracklist: 1. Me and Mrs Jones ( feat. k.d. lang) 2. Can't Help Falling In Love (feat. Mark Lanegan) 3. Sway (feat. Lucinda Williams) 4. Dolphins (feat. Dave Gahan) 5. First Of The Gang To Die (feat. Cat Power) 6. Always On My Mind (feat. Rufus Wainwright) 7. Every Little Bit Hurts (feat. Carleen Anderson) 8. I'm Not In Love (feat. Brandon Flowers) 9. It's Only Love (feat. Julian Lennon) 10. Try To Sleep (feat. Debbie Harry) 11. County Line (feat. Alan Sparhawk) 12. Love Letters (feat. Shirley Manson) 13. (You're My) Soul And Inspiration (feat. Dan Auerbach)
