Chrissie Hynde announces Duets Special album

Chrissie Hynde has announced the new album Duets Special.
The Pretenders frontwoman will team up with a host of music stars for 13 extraordinary duets on the new record that will be released on October 17.
Chrissie's new album features collaborations with k.d. lang, the late Mark Lanegan, Dave Gahan, Cat Power, Brandon Flowers, Debbie Harry, Shirley Manson, Alan Sparhawk and many more.
The record's first single, Always On My Mind featuring Rufus Wainwright, was released on Wednesday (13.08.25).
Discussing the origins of the album and the new track, Chrissie said: "I never thought about doing a Duets album before.
"I think the idea came about in 2023. I was talking to Jörn, Rufus Wainwright's husband, on the phone. I think we were recommending novels to each other and for some reason I said hey, maybe Rufus and I should do something, and quickly scribbled out 10 songs off the top of my head.
"So Jörn asked Rufus, who was up for it, and that's how it started. A spontaneous and what I thought would be a fun thing."
The artists who perform with Chrissie, 73, on Duets Special celebrate 13 uniquely distinct voices through stripped-down, intimate arrangements and minimal, refined instrumentation.
The tracks are all connected by the theme of great melodies.
Hynde was one of the founding members of The Pretenders in 1978 but confessed earlier this year that she doesn't regard herself as a "great musician" despite her long and successful career in the business.
The Don't Get Me Wrong singer said: "I'm not going to be self-effacing, but I'm not a great musician, I know that.
"Well, because when I first started playing, I was too shy to go with the guys in the art room and play so I just had this foresight, like most people who end up writing songs, just to be on my own and write something."
Duets Special Album Tracklist:
1. Me and Mrs Jones ( feat. k.d. lang)
2. Can't Help Falling In Love (feat. Mark Lanegan)
3. Sway (feat. Lucinda Williams)
4. Dolphins (feat. Dave Gahan)
5. First Of The Gang To Die (feat. Cat Power)
6. Always On My Mind (feat. Rufus Wainwright)
7. Every Little Bit Hurts (feat. Carleen Anderson)

9. It's Only Love (feat. Julian Lennon)
10. Try To Sleep (feat. Debbie Harry)

'A proper f****** rock band': Chrissie Hynde had the best time seeing Oasis live with pal Johnny Marr

Chrissie Hynde says the Oasis Live '25 Tour is "exactly what the world needs right now". The Pretenders frontwoman attended one of the Britpop legends' Wembley Stadium gigs with old bandmate Johnny Marr, and also bumped into supermodel Kate Moss - who, she says, "missed her calling" as a singer. Updating fans on Instagram , she penned: 'James and I went with @johnnymarrgram to see @oasis the other week. They were great as one would expect.' Praising support act Richard Ashcroft, she said: 'Saw a bunch of old pals in the audience and was dancing with Kate Moss to support act, the excellent voiced @richardashcroftofficial." She continued: 'I always remind Kate that she missed her calling, and could've been a singer. She reminded me that, 'For me, it was either Woolworths or modelling.' Because Kate rarely does interviews (unlike every other celebrity on the planet) people don't know what a riot she is. Well, she is, and now you know…' Moving on to the main event, the 73-year-old rocker hailed the Supersonic hitmakers - who are playing their first concerts in 16 years, after brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher put their long-standing feud behind them - "a proper f****** rock band". She said: 'Oasis were in great form. 'There is still nothing better than a rock band doing their thing with a minimal light show and no extra people cluttering the stage. In other words, a proper f****** rock band! Exactly what the world needs now.'

Sweet Home Alabama star Josh Lucas ties the knot at The Vatican in Rome

Josh Lucas has tied the knot - at The Vatican. The 54-year-old Sweet Home Alabama actor and meteorologist Brianna Ruffalo announced on Friday (18.07.25) that they said their vows at the official residence of the Pope in Rome, Italy. Brianna captioned an Instagram carousel from their special day: 'Mr. and Mrs. Incredibly blessed to receive this sacrament together inside the heart of the Catholic Church and holy city." Josh gushed in the comments section: "I love you! Easily one of the greatest days of my life. I am so so grateful.' Upon announcing their engagement last July, the Yellowstone actor admitted he was "grateful and thrilled" that Brianna had agreed to be his wife after he popped the question during a romantic vacation to Italy. The happy couple - who had been together for almost two years - shared their happy news on Instagram. In one clip, Brianna cried with happiness as she showed off her diamond ring while musicians played Elvis Presley's Can't Help Falling in Love. Josh captioned his post: "For the last 2 years in Every Way and Every Day this beautiful soul has made me and my life better, deeper, and more whole. "I am so grateful and thrilled she said 'Yes'. I WAY love you Brianna. Thank You to our families and all the people and places that made this come true. I am absolutely aware I got crazy lucky. (sic)" Meanwhile, Brianna admitted accepting Josh's proposal was the "easiest and best question" she'd ever answered. She wrote on her own page: "Almost 2 years ago this fall, and with no expectations, Josh walked into my life.. and we knew almost immediately we had each found our person in a way we've never experienced- on every level. This was the easiest and best question I've ever answered. So, here's to forever with my love, my best friend [heart emoji] I can't wait to keep living this life with you [prayer emoji]" Josh - who has 13-year-old son Noah with ex-wife Jessica Ciencin Henriquez - previously joked that his new fiancée is "fully" on the side of Patrick Dempsey's character Andrew Hennings in their 2002 movie Sweet Home Alabama. The movie sees Reese Witherspoon's Melanie Smooter leave her fiancé Andrew for Josh's alter ego Jake Perry at the end of the film. He told Entertainment Tonight: "In [Brianna's] mind, she's like, 'But you're the guy that kind of ruined their relationship!' "The funny thing is once she said that, all these people have come up to me and been like, 'Yeah, I was Team Patrick too.'"
