4-star DL Deuce Geralds announces commitment date with Oregon Ducks among top schools

USA Today09-07-2025
Some speculation among Oregon Duck fans was sparked on Tuesday night when 4-star defensive line target Deuce Geralds teased a recruiting announcement for Wednesday. There were questions about whether a commitment was on the horizon, or an announcement of top schools and a commitment date instead.
On Wednesday, we got our answer. Geralds announced that he is down to five schools: the Oregon Ducks, Michigan Wolverines, and Ohio State Buckeyes, LSU Tigers, and Ole Miss Rebels.
More than that, Geralds announced that he will make his commitment official on August 2.
Geralds is rated by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 73 overall player and No. 9 DL in the 2026 class. While the Buckeyes were thought to be in the lead for a while, the Ducks have seemingly grabbed some momentum in his recruitment.
After a recent run of commitments from the likes of 5-star Immanuel Iheanacho, 4-star Jalen Lott, and 4-star Tommy Tofi, Oregon climbed back into the top 10 of the national recruiting rankings. If they can add Geralds later this summer, it would keep them among the best in the nation for this cycle.

5-star OT Immanuel Iheanacho reacts to Oregon Ducks' commitment from Tank Jones

Earlier this summer, the Oregon Ducks made a big splash in the recruiting world when they added 5-star offensive tackle Immanuel Iheanacho to the fold, bringing him in as the third 5-star member of the 2026 class, alongside safety Jett Washington and TE Kendre Harrison. It didn't take long for Iheanacho to get the fans riled up, posting on July 13 that the Ducks "got another one" and that a top-5 ranked recruiting class was incoming. That sort of tease got fans talking pretty quickly. Who was Iheanacho referring to, and how quickly would the news come out? Well, it took a few weeks, but on Thursday, the announcement finally came that 5-star EDGE Anthony 'Tank' Jones was committing to the Ducks, choosing Oregon over the Alabama Crimson Tide and Texas A&M Aggies. Jones is rated as the No. 18 player in the class, and the No. 4 EDGE, pushing the Ducks up to No. 8 in the recruiting rankings, per 247Sports, and No. 6 according to On3/Rivals. While it may not technically be a top-5 class just yet, Iheanacho was fired up about the announcement at long last. Iheanacho posted a video on his Instagram story, celebrating in the weight room and saying that he was "lit" after his lift upon hearing the news about Tank. "You already know, Tank's going to the Ducks," Iheanacho said. "Sco Ducks!" This excitement was felt by the Oregon fanbase, many of whom took to social media to celebrate boisterously following the addition of their fourth 5-star player in the class, which now ties Alabama for the most in the nation this cycle. The celebration isn't expected to end soon, either. On Saturday, both 4-star CB Davon Benjamin and 4-star DL Deuce Geralds are also scheduled to announce their commitments, with both expected to pick the Ducks in the end. We will see what Iheanacho has planned for those announcements down the road. Oregon's Dakorien Moore already labeled nation's best freshman

Thursday marked the official release of EA Sports College Football 26 video game, which led to a flurry of content from streamers and social media users. After signing arguably the nation's best influx of talent via traditional recruiting and the transfer portal, Oregon Ducks fans were particularly intrigued about where their new talent would land. The headliner of the group? Oregon signee and Duncanville (Texas) five-star wide receiver Dakorien Moore is the second highest-rated prospect in program history (No. 4 overall), but the folks at EA Sports are even higher on him. Moore received an overall rating of 84, which made him the highest-rated true freshman in the game, eclipsing LSU running back Harlem Berry (83 overall), Georgia defensive lineman Elijah Griffin (82), Texas duo James Simon and Kaliq Lockett and Kansas State tight end Linkon Cure (81). Moore is expected to be a major part of the Oregon offense this season, particularly after the likely season-ending injury of star receiver Evan Stewart. The hype couldn't be much higher for the dynamic playmaker. Fellow Oregon signees also ranked well, including quarterback Akili Smith Jr. (75), runnings backs Dierre Hill (80) and Jordon Davison (77), Cooper Perry (76), cornerback Brandon Finney (78) and safety Trey McNutt (77). Notable Oregon signees Na'eem Offord, Dorian Brew, Douglas Utu, Ziyare Addison, Nasir Wyatt, Gavin Nix and others were not in the game (yet?).

Elite LSU football recruiting target reveals decision day

Four-star defensive lineman and LSU football recruiting target Deuce Geralds has locked in a decision date. According to Rivals' Hayes Fawcett, Geralds will commit on August 2. LSU is a finalist alongside Michigan, Oregon, Ohio State, and Ole Miss. ESPN and Rivals both rank Geralds as the No. 2 defensive tackle in the class of 2026. On3 and 247Sports aren't quite as high, but both slot Geralds as a top-200 prospect. On3's Industry Rankings place Geralds No. 95 overall and No. 6 at his position. Geralds is a Georgia native, playing his high school ball at Collins Hill. But UGA is out of the race for the blue-chip defensive lineman. There's no clear front runner for Geralds and there's yet to be a 247Sports Crystal Ball prediction. LSU has been recruiting Geralds for some time now. He's a Baton Rouge native and Geralds father has ties to LSU running backs coach Frank Wilson. Geralds doesn't count as a "Louisiana recruit," but we've seen LSU have success landing recruits who were born in the Boot before moving away. Before Geralds commits next month, LSU will learn the fate of five-star defensive tackle Lamar Brown on Thursday, July 10. If LSU misses on Brown, the Tigers could turn up the heat on Geralds.
