Track-bred Titans: Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4MATIC+ and GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ debut in India
Each car blends motorsport-grade technology with raw mechanical intensity, wrapped in a silhouette that is both aggressive and unmistakably elegant.
The GT 63 4MATIC+ marks a notable debut as the first AMG Coupé of this scale to arrive in India with a fully variable all-wheel-drive, opening up a far broader performance bandwidth. Power delivery, as expected, is nothing short of ferocious.
Beneath the long bonnet rests a handcrafted 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo motor that belts out 585 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque. The numbers are arresting on paper — 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds, and a top speed just north of 315 km/h — but it's how this car handles that truly defines its purpose.
AMG's pursuit of dynamic excellence is evident in its Active Ride Control suspension setup, which replaces traditional anti-roll bars with hydraulically linked dampers that adapt in real time to load and steering input.
It's a decisive move away from the stiff compromises that once came with performance. Rear-axle steering lends it incredible agility — turning the rear wheels opposite to the front ones at lower speeds and in tandem at high velocity, giving the car an almost uncanny stability.
But where the GT 63 comes across as a streetwise athlete, the GT 63 PRO takes everything a step further. Born from the track and built for those who demand more than just road presence, it delivers a heightened performance with 612 horsepower and 850 Nm underfoot.
It's sprint time drops to 3.1 seconds helped by reworked engine software, a more aggressive boost curve, and lightweight ceramic composite brakes that offer immense stopping power.
Aesthetically, the GT 63 PRO isn't shy about its intent. Carbon-fibre splitters, diffuser fins, and an aero package that borrows cues from the AMG ONE hypercar help produce serious downforce. In fact, Mercedes claims the upgraded underbody aero elements alone reduce front-end lift by over 30 kilograms, apart from rear downforce gains of around 15 kilograms. Together, these changes have a transformative effect on high-speed stability.
Beneath the surface, the car's cooling has been re-engineered with track performance in mind. Two additional radiators nestled into the front wheel arches work alongside actively managed differential cooling systems. Cup 2R tyres — homologated for the circuit — come as a no-cost option, offering serious grip and consistency when chasing apexes.
Inside, the dual personality of these AMGs becomes even more apparent. The cabin retains a sense of luxury with a comprehensive spread of digital instrumentation, MBUX displays, and AMG-specific menus that include the TRACK PACE telemetry system.
This advanced system records data at a mind-bending ten times per second across over 80 parameters, giving the driver detailed post-lap analysis. While the rear seats don't offer limousine-level comfort, Mercedes has marginally increased rear headroom to accommodate passengers up to 1.5 metres in height — small wins in a packaging war for usability.
Personalisation plays a key role in distinguishing the two coupés. Both are offered with a selection of MANUFAKTUR finishes ranging from the deeply dramatic Green Hell Magno to a show-stopping Opalith White Bright. The GT 63 PRO, naturally, gets carbon trim and Night Package II elements as standard, further underlining its intent.
Deliveries for the GT 63 are set to begin by the end of 2025, while the GT 63 PRO will reach customers in early 2026. In an interesting move, Mercedes-Benz India is also lining up curated track experiences for customers, which makes perfect sense considering how focused these machines are on delivering a complete performance experience, and not just numbers on a spec sheet.
The AMG GT family is more than just Mercedes' interpretation of high-speed indulgence — it's a reminder of how the brand continues to fuse heritage with innovation. Whether it's the raw muscle of the GT 63 or the precision-edged fury of the PRO, both cars underline one simple truth: performance has never looked, sounded, or driven quite like this.
Prices (Ex-showroom, India):
Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4MATIC+ — ₹3.00 crore
Mercedes-AMG GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ — ₹3.65 crore

Christian Horner's Exit Has No Impact On My Future Plans: Max Verstappen
Max Verstappen insisted on Thursday that Christian Horner's shock departure as team boss of Red Bull will have no impact on his future plans. The four-time world champion, who has been linked with a move to Mercedes next year, suggested that he expects to stay with Red Bull until the conclusion of his current contract in 2028. Speaking to reporters in the paddock ahead of this weekend's Belgian Grand Prix, one of his 'home' races as he was born in Belgium and his mother is Belgian, the 27-year-old Dutchman said he was concerned only with improving the speed and performance of his car. The rest, he said, was not of great interest to him, adding that past tensions between Horner and his father Jos Verstappen had no bearing on decisions about his future. Asked if Horner's exit after 20 years as team boss made it more probable that he would stay at Red Bull next year, Verstappen said: "No, it doesn't. Not really." He said the well-publicised discord between his father and Horner was never a problem. "People can have a difference of opinion and I expect that to happen because if everyone agrees, there is a problem. "You need to have differences in opinion. Now, we will work in a different direction and I am excited about it and I don't think it will matter at all for the decision over my future. "The only thing that matters is that we work on the car and make it as fast as we can and try and be more competitive this year, a little bit, but for sure with the new regulations next year." Verstappen had earlier welcomed the appointment of Frenchman Laurent Mekies, promoted from junior team Racing Bulls, as Horner's successor and clearly sensed that it could usher in a stronger technical and engineering focus at the team. He gave an oblique response when asked if he had a decision to make about his future. "There is also the possibility of not waking up tomorrow and so there is no driving. "Life is unpredictable and, in general, I am happy with where I am at… "The target was that when I signed my deal, I would drive here until the end of my career." Verstappen will be hoping to end the speculation and give both the team and new boss Mekies a boost with a convincing performance this weekend on his favourite circuit. The Dutchman finds himself in the unaccustomed position of third in the drivers' standings, behind leader Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, both of McLaren.

Mercedes' Toto Wolff Prioritizes Russell and Antonelli; Dismisses Verstappen Move
Last Updated: Mercedes' Toto Wolff confirms George Russell and Kimi Antonelli as top choices for next season, dismissing a near-term move for Max Verstappen, who is third in standings. George Russell and Kimi Antonelli are Mercedes' top choices for next season, according to team principal Toto Wolff—comments that appear to dismiss the possibility of a near-term move for Red Bull's four-time world champion Max Verstappen. At the halfway point of the 24-race Formula One season, Verstappen sits third in the standings, 69 points behind McLaren's championship leader Oscar Piastri and 61 points behind Piastri's teammate, Lando Norris. The Dutchman's hopes of clinching a fifth consecutive title are rapidly fading. Speculation around Verstappen's future has intensified, especially with the upcoming engine regulation changes set for 2026. Mercedes is widely expected to produce the strongest power unit in the new era, prompting talk that Verstappen could consider a switch. Red Bull Shake-Up Fuels Speculation That speculation gained further momentum after Red Bull parted ways with long-serving team principal Christian Horner earlier this month. Laurent Mekies will lead the team at this weekend's Belgian Grand Prix, adding further uncertainty to Red Bull's internal dynamics. Meanwhile, 18-year-old rookie Kimi Antonelli, who joined Mercedes' driver program this year, is widely regarded as one of the sport's most promising young talents. 'The direction of travel is that we want to continue with George and Kimi. That is the first priority," Wolff told Austria's ORF television on Wednesday. 'You can't look past someone like Max and the plans he has for the future. We did that, but I don't think there will be any big surprises." Verstappen's Contract Clauses and Holiday Rumors According to ORF, Verstappen's contract contains performance-based exit clauses. However, he would have needed to fall outside the top three in the standings after the British Grand Prix at Silverstone to activate a release option—something that did not occur. Social media buzzed earlier this month when Wolff and Verstappen were reportedly vacationing at the same time and location in Sardinia. Wolff, however, dismissed any link between the timing of their holidays and potential negotiations. 'If you go on holiday close to each other, it doesn't mean that you are also going to work together in Formula One," he said. 'We have always got along well. We also happen to vacation in similar areas." (with agency inputs) view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive.
