Ghost Rider Rumored to Lead Marvel's MIDNIGHT SONS Movie as BLADE Faces More Delays — GeekTyrant
But given Blade's long-troubled production history, it looks like Marvel may be ready to pass the torch… or flaming skull.
Richtman reports that Ghost Rider will now lead the team in the Midnight Sons project, which he also claims is back in active development after a lengthy stall. It's a big pivot, but not entirely shocking considering the state of the Blade movie, which was originally announced at San Diego Comic-Con back in 2019 with Mahershala Ali set to star.
Since that announcement, Blade has gone through multiple writers and directors, was removed from Disney's release calendar, and continues to exist in a frustrating limbo.
Grammy-winning artist Flying Lotus shared that he was once attached to write music for the film but noted, 'I guess we are so far from it even being a possibility now, but, yeah I was signed on to write music for the new BLADE movie before it fell through.'
Actor Delroy Lindo, who had been cast in an undisclosed role, said that while his early experience was promising, 'it just went off the rails.' Add to that the recent casting of Mia Goth in a Star Wars project after reportedly being locked for Blade , and you can see why fans are skeptical the movie will ever happen.
Kevin Feige remains optimistic, though. 'We love the character, we love the version that Mahershala has of him … I can say that the character will reach the MCU,' he said, though with no specific timeline in sight.
Meanwhile, Midnight Sons appears to be gaining traction again. Richtman claims the project is actively moving forward, though screenwriter Michael Green is reportedly no longer attached. Marvel is now said to be searching for a new writer to take the reins.
Another piece of the puzzle is Moon Knight. Marvel Studios has confirmed that Oscar Isaac's character will return in a movie, rather than in a second season of his Disney+ series. Since Moon Knight is a core member of the Midnight Sons in the comics, his return adds more weight to the possibility that Marvel is actively assembling its supernatural squad.
Plus, the Disney+ series Agatha All Along introduced Jennifer Kale (played by Sasheer Zamata), a deep-cut character from Marvel Comics who happens to be a cousin to Johnny Blaze and Danny Ketch, two versions of Ghost Rider.
In the comics, Jennifer Kale has ties to Doctor Strange, Man-Thing, and even the Midnight Sons themselves.
While nothing's confirmed, all signs point to Marvel steering its mystical universe in a fiery new direction, with Ghost Rider blazing the trail.

Quentin Tarantino Scrapped ‘The Movie Critic' Because It ‘Was Too Much Like' ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' and ‘Who Wants to See a Movie About a F—ing Movie Critic?'
Quentin Tarantino has offered an explanation for why he scrapped plans to direct his script 'The Movie Critic,' which would've marked his 10th film — and his final one, if he does keep his years-long promise that he will stop helming features at that count. 'I wasn't really excited about dramatizing what I wrote when I was in pre-production, partly because I'm using the skillset that I learned from 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' [of] 'How are we going to turn Los Angeles into the Hollywood of 1969 without using CGI?'' Tarantino explained in a career-spanning conversation on the Church of Tarantino podcast, recorded in Los Angeles at his coffee shop Pam's Coffy. 'It was something we had to pull off. We had to achieve it. It wasn't for sure that we could do it. … 'The Movie Critic,' there was nothing to figure out. I already kind of knew, more or less, how to turn L.A. into an older time. It was too much like the last one.' He also clarified that the story of 'The Movie Critic' had nothing to do with 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,' despite rumors that the project was a narrative follow-up. Brad Pitt had been cast in a lead role, leading to speculation that the star would be reprising his 'Once Upon a Time' role of Cliff Booth. Tarantino said that there were no shared characters between the two stories, though he called 'The Movie Critic' a 'spiritual sequel.' He also suggested that he could loop back to the project should he change his mind about it, as it's already written. 'The thing about 'The Movie Critic' is I really, really like it. But there was a challenge that I gave to myself when I did it. 'Can I take the most boring profession in the world and make it an interesting movie?'' Tarantino said. 'Who wants to see a TV show about a fucking movie critic? Who wants to see a movie called 'The Movie Critic'? That was the test. If I can actually make a movie or a TV show about someone who actually watches movies interesting, that is an accomplishment. And I think I did that.' The director continued by saying that he began work on 'The Adventures of Cliff Booth,' the actual sequel to 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,' shortly after walking away from 'The Movie Critic.' The Netflix production, which is now shooting in Los Angeles, is written and produced by Tarantino, but David Fincher is directing. In the meantime, Tarantino is planning to open a play on the West End in London in 2026 before working on his 10th (and allegedly final) feature film. 'It's a little crazy to listen to podcasts and hear all these amateur psychiatrists psychoanalyze as if they fucking know what they're talking about about what's going on with me, about how I'm so scared, alright, of my 10th film,' Tarantino said, launching into an impression for his speculative fans. ''Oh my god! Oh my god! I'm so fragile about my legacy. What's going on? I'm paralyzed with fear!' I'm not paralyzed with fear. Trust me.' Nick & Vanessa Lachey's Head-Turning Real Estate Decision Shows How Much They Loved Their Dream Home
As the old saying goes, 'you can go home again.' That's exactly what Nick and Vanessa Lachey are doing with their recent real estate purchase. Let's dial it back to see how the couple went full circle with a 6,855-square-foot home in Tarzana, California. In 2020, the Lacheys moved to the $5.1 million mansion, thinking it would be the perfect place to raise their three children: Camden, 12, Brooklyn, 10, and Phoenix, 8. That was the plan until Vanessa scored a gig on NCIS: Hawai'i in 2021. More from SheKnows Prince William & Kate Middleton's 'Fresh Start' Home Comes With a Refreshing Financial Detail That meant a move to Honolulu, where they purchased an $8.8 million residence and sold their Tarzana estate to tennis pro Naomi Osaka for $6.2 million, per This is where things get a little crazy. NCIS: Hawai'i was canceled by CBS in April 2024, and it was time for the Lachey family to return to California. They bought a six-bedroom home in Encino, a neighborhood next door to Tarzana, for $6.8 million — but it wasn't the dream residence they once had. In a game of real estate shuffle, they put that home back on the market less than a year later because they were able to convince Osaka to sell their old property back to them. According to The Wall Street Journal, the U.S. Open champion made a nice profit on the place by selling it back to Nick and Vanessa for $7.95 million. The media outlet noted that this was a private sale since it wasn't listed on the open market, and Osaka had made substantial upgrades to the property. Osaka added necessary details for any athlete — a 'recovery center' with 'a sauna, a cold plunge, a steam room, and a massage table.' She even had her workout mantras posted in neon in the gym: 'Nothing good happens without discipline' and 'If it was easy, everyone would do it.' Surprisingly, the property did not have a tennis court, only a pickleball court — so it might be why Osaka is on the move. For the Lacheys, though, a return to their old home is a dream come of SheKnows 20 Times Madonna Reinvented Fashion at the VMAs The Best Photos of Madonna & Lookalike Daughter Lourdes Through The Years 22 Famous Women Who Have Played Roxie in Chicago on Broadway Solve the daily Crossword
