Marvel Reportedly Developing Long-Awaited MCU Sequel
In addition to introducing new superheroes and projects, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is known for its sequels, and now one long-awaited MCU sequel could finally be happening. According to a new report, Marvel is developing a follow-up to one of the franchise's newer properties, one that fans have been clamoring for. As shared in a new report, the sequel is actually potentially being set up by the events of Ironheart , which finally introduces Mephisto. The comic book character has similarly been demanded by longtime fans of the MCU, and Sacha Baron Cohen has finally brought him to life. Of course, this opens many doors for other storylines in the MCU, including this alleged sequel project. Here's what The Cosmic Circus first began their report on that front according to their sources: 'Marvel Studios currently has plans to adapt the comic event known as Damnation , a major 2018 storyline starring the Midnight Sons. The Midnight Sons team in the comic includes Blade, Ghost Rider (Johnny Blaze), Elsa Bloodstone, Man-Thing, Moon Knight (as Marc Spector), and Doctor Voodoo.' As for Damnation , the comic book storyline revolves around Las Vegas being taken over by Mephisto in his efforts to create Hell on Earth. This would be the perfect setup for a potential Midnight Sons movie, something which has been reportedly in development for quite some time alongside the likes of whatever's happening with Blade . Though this isn't the only project in the works. In addition to the Damnation storyline, which could lead to a Midnight Sons movie tying together several other properties together, there are some sequel projects in the works. This includes a potential long-anticipated sequel to the Disney Plus series Moon Knight . While information on this alleged sequel is scarce, it's said to depict a story where 'Marc Spector and Steven Grant would be forced to solve a mystery that would eventually bring them face-to-face with the third personality, Jake Lockley.' So, in addition to a direct sequel to the MCU series Moon Knight , the titular Marvel character could also make an additional appearance for Midnight Sons . Fans would get proper continuations with most of these characters, including Moon Knight, before leading into a major crossover event not unlike the Avengers films. Of course, all of this should be taken with a grain of salt until formally announced by Disney and Marvel Studios. Though based on what we've seen them release so far, it's clear that they want to start exploring the MCU's supernatural side sooner rather than later.

Marvel's MIDNIGHT SONS Movie Gets Promising Update — GeekTyrant
It looks like Marvel Studios is finally moving forward with its long-teased Midnight Sons movie. According to industry insider DanielRPK, Marvel has officially brought a writer on board to start scripting the film. There's no director, cast, or release date yet, and Marvel hasn't said a word publicly, but internally, it seems like the project is in early development. While there are obviously no plot details, it was previously reported that Ghost Rider could take the lead on the team. It would be wild to see the the flaming-skulled antihero leading the supernatural squad. Nicolas Cage famously played the character in Sony's Ghost Rider films, but it safe to assume that Marvel will cast someone else in the film. A Samurai variant of Ghost Rider did show up (very briefly) in the What If...? season 2 finale, but it was a blink-and-you'll-miss-it kind of appearance. The original Midnight Sons series was created by Howard Mackie, Andy Kubert, and Bobby Chase and brought together other characters like Blade, Moon Knight, Doctor Strange, and Elsa Bloodstone. With Moon Knight, Werewolf By Night, and Agatha All Along already dipping their toes into Marvel's darker side, it's not too far-fetched to imagine these characters sharing the screen in something wickedly unholy. Still, it's all quiet on the official front. Marvel Studios has yet to confirm any of this, and the supernatural corner of the MCU remains largely undefined. But if this report holds, it looks like they're finally building toward something, and Midnight Sons could be the big, weird, ghost-fueled culmination of it all.

Marvel's Supernatural Corner Heats Up: WEREWOLF BY NIGHT 2 Gets a Promising Update — GeekTyrant
Marvel's creepy fun supernatural corner of the MCU is stirring again as Werewolf by Night 2 is reportedly in development, and it might be leading us straight into the Midnight Sons . It's been nearly two years since Marvel Studios dropped the surprise hit Werewolf by Night on Disney+, introducing fans to Jack Russell (Gael García Bernal), Elsa Bloodstone (Laura Donnelly), and the lovable swamp beast Man-Thing. The Halloween special was a awesome stylistic curveball and still stands as one of Marvel's most critically praised Disney+ projects, currently holding a 90% score on Rotten Tomatoes. So naturally, fans have been waiting (and asking) for more. Now, according to a new report, that wait may finally be paying off. Marvel Studios is said to be developing multiple supernatural-themed projects designed to feed directly into the long-rumored Midnight Sons film. One of those projects is the sequel to Werewolf by Night . That means Jack Russell is likely howling at the moon once again, and this time, it could be alongside even more supernatural heavy-hitters. The report aligns with an earlier claim that Marvel has already brought on a writer for the Midnight Sons script, though exact story details remain under wraps. There is, however, a rumor circulating that Ghost Rider could lead the team in the MCU. For those unfamiliar, the Midnight Sons comics gathered characters like Ghost Rider, Blade, Moon Knight, Doctor Strange, and Elsa Bloodstone to fight occult threats. With Marvel already dabbling in the supernatural, it seems the pieces are quietly being put in place for a full-on supernatural saga. While Marvel hasn't made any official announcements, this latest development suggests the studio is ready to pull the trigger on its darker, weirder corner of the MCU, and Werewolf by Night 2 might just be the key to unlocking it! Marvel's ‘Ironheart' Soars Above The Hate
Source: Maya Dehlin Spach / Getty In one of the most heart-wrenching moments in Marvel's new excellent Disney+ series Ironheart , MIT tech genius, badass inventor, and complicated superhero Riri Williams is emotionally gutted after the AI version of her deceased best friend N.A.T.A.L.I.E. is deleted. 'Oh my God…' panics Tony 'Iron Man' Stark's rebellious mentee—played with layered grit by the criminally underrated Dominique Thorne. Riri discovers the sobering consequences of using dark magic to amp up her new and improved black and red metal suit for her showdown with mystically enhanced villain The Hood. Source: Marvel Studios / Ironheart The Ryan Coogler-executive produced Ironheart has exceeded expectations. The six-episode show currently holds an 86% critics rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes (that score ranks among the best of Marvel Studio TV and film properties). San Francisco Chronicle's Zaki Hasan summed up much of the buzz surrounding Ironheart , praising the series' bold, personal storytelling in a genre usually heavy on save-the-world bluster. Fans have been even more ecstatic, following the shocking [SPOILER ALERT!!!], long-awaited MCU introduction of one of Marvel Comics' most powerful demons, which already has folks envisioning a Midnight Sons team-up movie featuring Doctor Strange, Ghost Rider, Moon Knight, Elsa Bloodstone, Blade. 'Ironheart is one of the best tv shows Marvel has made FIGHT WITH A WALL I DON'T CARE,' said one overly hyped viewer. 'Riri, you will forever be loved. AND FINALLY GETTING MEPHISTO???? oh we're so back and I will be expecting a season 2.' 'I think it's so yummy that Riri doesn't have to walk the traditional hero path,' Thorne told Entertainment Weekl y, following the jaw-dropping cliffhanger in which Ironheart makes a deal with 'the devil' to bring Natalie back to life. 'She has already crossed some lines and figured she'll handle the consequences on the other side. So what exactly is the scope? What's the scale of those consequences? And does she continue to resist? Does she continue to do the right thing or does she lean into the other part of her?' Credit for Ironheart's we-didn't-see-that-coming story building and smart, methodical pacing goes to head writer and showrunner Chinaka Hodge. She and fellow Oakland native Coogler unload an unapologetically Black yet inclusive show that somehow manages to balance over-the-top comic book fantasy with the grounded backdrop of working-class Chicago. Yet the initial rollout for Ironheart , which currently sits atop Disney+'s most streamed properties in the US, was tepid. Some fans have called out the show's bantam episode count (in comparison, the 2024 miniseries Agatha All Along was given nine episodes). Promotion for Ironheart , originally announced back in December of 2020 by Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige as part of the Disney-backed company's new slate of shows, has been muted. Since then Marvel's 'Phase 5' has been hit and mostly miss (the all-heart Thunderbolts* deserved better). Source: Marvel Studios / Ironheart It was as if Feige and company were spooked by so-called superhero fatigue. But there was something more disturbing happening. Before Ironheart even made its June 24 premiere, it was review-bombed by belligerent fanboys apparently outraged over the mere idea of a Black woman headlining a superhero show. 'Ironheart' Star Has Defiant Response to Audience Negativity as RT Score…'Ironheart' has been gaining some mixed reactions, but that is fine by one star of the MCU series. Never mind that Williams—originally created by comic book writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Mike Deodato, and introduced in 2016's Invincible Iron Man No. 7—became an instant fan favorite following Thorne's appearance in the 2022 blockbuster Black Panther: Wakanda Forever . The theory goes that Marvel suits were reluctant to fully embrace Ironheart due to the current toxic, racist, and misogynistic-fueled DEI scare. 'Without knowing who was responsible for marketing… it's hard to believe that it wasn't a factor,' film and television writer Cheo Hodari Coker tells Cassius Life . The pen behind Ray Donovan , Southland , Notorious , and Creed II has had experience with working inside the Marvel world. Coker was showrunner for the Netflix superhero series Luke Cage , one of Marvel's early Black characters to headline their own book in 1972. Coker sees similarities between the two productions, recalling the time he premiered the Luke Cage trailer at Comic-Con in 2016. Ol' Dirty Bastard's 'Shimmy Shimmy Ya' blasted in the background as an ass-kicking Cage ran through an army of bad guys. 'We leaned into Hip-Hop and into Luke's Blackness, much how the show leans into Riri's,' adds Coker. Coker further makes the case that Coogler's recent box office glory with a certain Oscar-ready vampire movie has helped give Ironheart extra momentum. 'Ryan's triumphant turn with Sinners , I suspect, made [Marvel] realize that associating with his brand was an asset that could transcend any of the racist trolling,' he continues. 'And that, at the same time, once people actually got to see the show, they would see just how brilliant it is.' Indeed, Ironheart diehards have certainly done their part, pushing back against brazen attempts by the usual suspects to sabotage the show. And OG Iron Man , Robert Downey Jr, who Thorne calls her 'bestie' (he's set to play Marvel's next big baddie Dr. Doom in the upcoming 2026 film Avengers: Doomsday ) has given his full, glowing support to the actress and the Ironheart crew. Beyond the cool CGI and slick fight scenes, the show's strong cast is reason enough to give Ironheart a watch. Anji White gives Riri's supportive, no-nonsense mother, Ronnie, a wise, regal aura. The aforementioned Natalie, played by the scene-stealing Lyric Ross, embodies the coolest (and effortlessly hilarious) best homie from around the way. Regan Aliyah delivers offbeat charm as future Doctor Strange protégé Zelma Stanton. Anthony Ramos injects Ironheart's ominous Hood with enough eye-winking charisma to make Jessica Jones' David Tennant (Purple Man) jealous. LaRoyce Hawkins (Riri's stepfather Gary Williams) will break your heart while the youngest of the cast, Harper Anthony, gives Martin's iconic Hustle Man a run for his money as the wise-cracking Landon. The irreverent Sacha Baron Cohen was seemingly born to play Mephisto. And Thorne leads the entire production with a ferocity balanced by raw vulnerability. While it's too soon to say if Ironheart will be extended for a second season, Coker, an unabashed fan of the show, says he's ready for more. 'The same way that Luke Cage embraced '90s Hip-Hop and proved their was a huge audience, taking cues from James Gunn's embrace of '70s AM rock for Guardians of the Galaxy , my hope is that Marvel and Disney understand that there is a huge audience for Ironheart .' Ghost Rider Rumored to Lead Marvel's MIDNIGHT SONS Movie as BLADE Faces More Delays — GeekTyrant
A new rumor is lighting up the supernatural corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to trusted insider Daniel Richtman, Ghost Rider may be taking the lead in Marvel's Midnight Sons movie, stepping into a spotlight many assumed belonged to Blade. But given Blade's long-troubled production history, it looks like Marvel may be ready to pass the torch… or flaming skull. Richtman reports that Ghost Rider will now lead the team in the Midnight Sons project, which he also claims is back in active development after a lengthy stall. It's a big pivot, but not entirely shocking considering the state of the Blade movie, which was originally announced at San Diego Comic-Con back in 2019 with Mahershala Ali set to star. Since that announcement, Blade has gone through multiple writers and directors, was removed from Disney's release calendar, and continues to exist in a frustrating limbo. Grammy-winning artist Flying Lotus shared that he was once attached to write music for the film but noted, 'I guess we are so far from it even being a possibility now, but, yeah I was signed on to write music for the new BLADE movie before it fell through.' Actor Delroy Lindo, who had been cast in an undisclosed role, said that while his early experience was promising, 'it just went off the rails.' Add to that the recent casting of Mia Goth in a Star Wars project after reportedly being locked for Blade , and you can see why fans are skeptical the movie will ever happen. Kevin Feige remains optimistic, though. 'We love the character, we love the version that Mahershala has of him … I can say that the character will reach the MCU,' he said, though with no specific timeline in sight. Meanwhile, Midnight Sons appears to be gaining traction again. Richtman claims the project is actively moving forward, though screenwriter Michael Green is reportedly no longer attached. Marvel is now said to be searching for a new writer to take the reins. Another piece of the puzzle is Moon Knight. Marvel Studios has confirmed that Oscar Isaac's character will return in a movie, rather than in a second season of his Disney+ series. Since Moon Knight is a core member of the Midnight Sons in the comics, his return adds more weight to the possibility that Marvel is actively assembling its supernatural squad. Plus, the Disney+ series Agatha All Along introduced Jennifer Kale (played by Sasheer Zamata), a deep-cut character from Marvel Comics who happens to be a cousin to Johnny Blaze and Danny Ketch, two versions of Ghost Rider. In the comics, Jennifer Kale has ties to Doctor Strange, Man-Thing, and even the Midnight Sons themselves. While nothing's confirmed, all signs point to Marvel steering its mystical universe in a fiery new direction, with Ghost Rider blazing the trail.
