Lottery player picks numbers inspired by late father, wins big. ‘Thank you, dad'

Inspired by her late father, a Maryland woman bought a lottery ticket — and it led to a big prize.
The Calvert County woman placed a straight $1 bet on a Pick 5 ticket using numbers from the day of her father's death, Maryland Lottery officials said in a July 30 news release.
The player checked the numbers on her ticket, which she bought at a Prince Frederick convenience store, for the July 25 evening draw and initially thought she 'had won a smaller prize on a boxed bet pick,' lottery officials said.
Soon, though, she realized she had 'a perfect match on a straight bet ticket for a top prize' of $50,000, lottery officials said.
'I got that bad boy straight,' the winner said.
The woman, who told lottery officials she only buys lottery tickets on Sundays but plays every day, is not stranger to big lottery wins.
Two years ago, she won a $62,000 Racetrax prize and also won a 'memorable prize in 2015 on the animated horses game,' lottery officials said.
For her most recent lottery win, the woman said she credits her late father.
'My dad sent me some good luck,' she said. 'Thank you, dad.'
The winner told lottery officials she plans to use her winnings to 'get her finances straight' and to buy a truck for her husband.
Prince Frederick is about a 60-mile drive south form Baltimore.
