Chairlift collapses plunging riders into a lake and the ground injuring 10
This is the moment a chairlift collapsed in a Russian resort sending four people plunging into a lake and six others hitting the ground.
Some 10 people were left injured in the accident in Nalchik, in the mountainous Kabardino-Balkaria region.
Footage shows how the chairs suddenly fell with riders screaming as they landed in trees.
Splashes were heard in the background as others hit the water of the 22ft-deep Lake Trek.
Footage also shows one tourist's fall to the ground when the cable gave way.
Thirteen people were left dangling on chairs and had to be evacuated by the emergency services.
The injured, including one child, were taken to hospital, with one person in a serious condition.
'One patient is in serious condition in an intensive care unit,' said a regional health ministry spokesman. More Trending
The chairlift – to a local scenic viewing point – was originally built in 1968.
Wear and tear of cables is considered as 'the preliminary cause of the accident', reported TASS citing emergency services.
A criminal investigation has been opened to confirm the cause of the accident.
'During the investigation, all other versions will be considered,' said the emergency services source.

18 seconds can be too quick for some things, and far too long for others. But for Eric Moffatt, 66, it cost him almost £20 in an airport car park. The granddad says Manchester Airport are unfairly penalising him for an '18-second-mistake' and a trip to the loo. It unfolded after Eric, from Aigburth, had dropped his daughter and granddaughter off for a flight to Dubai at Manchester Airport on Friday 8 August. During the 6.35am stop at the Terminal 2 Drop Off, he went to use the toilet, which he said was a 'fair walk away' from the car park. After saying his goodbyes he left the airport at 6.45am. The granddad expected to then fork out £6.40 for the drop off. This is because the terminal's rules dictate that customers are allowed to park for up to 10 minutes for the price of £6.40, over this they must pay £25. The same fees apply at Terminal 1 and Terminal 3, with the max stay allowed being 30 minutes. Believing his stay had been 10 minutes, which was confirmed by the receipt, Eric went to pay the fee when he found he'd actually been charged £25. It took a closer look at the receipt to discover why: he had been parked up for 10 minutes and 18 seconds. That was 18 seconds over the limit. The 66-year-old is now furious, saying he has been unfairly overcharged because a health condition means he needs to go to the toilet more often. Eric said: 'I phoned up to question it and the guy told me I can appeal but if I lose the appeal I'll be told to pay £60. 'The guy on the phone said if you're one second over the 10 minutes you'll be charged £25. It just doesn't seem fair when I was 10 minutes, I wasn't 11 minutes. 'It is a new terminal, I didn't know where I was going inside and I have a bladder problem – I feel like I'm being penalised twice for it. I've been charged £25 for 18 seconds, how is that fair?' A spokesperson for Manchester Airport said: 'Drop-off charges help us to manage demand for access to our forecourts, where space is limited, and reduce traffic congestion. 'We also offer a completely free drop-off facility by the nearby JetParks 1 car park. It is served by a 24-hour shuttle bus that runs every few minutes and takes less than six minutes to get to all three terminals.' JD Vance visit causes unexpected chaos at Clarkson's Farm
Jeremy Clarkson has revealed that US Vice President JD Vance's holiday has gotten in the way of filming for Clarkson's Farm. The presenter revealed on Instagram that a no-fly zone has been put in place around the Cotswolds manor the Vice President is vacationing it. Clarkson's farm is within the mile-wide area, meaning the program can't do any drone shots for the duration of the Vice President's stay. Vance will be in residence in the hamlet of Dean for the rest of August. Clarkson posted a picture on Instagram showing the no fly zone, writing: 'The JD Vance no fly zone. We are the pin. So on the downside, no drone shots today. On the upside, no annoying light aircraft.' Clarkson isn't the only one frustrated by Vance's presence in Chipping Norton, with many in the area tired of the disruptions caused by Trump's right-hand man's choice of holiday spot. This includes Clarkson's right-hand man, Kaleb Cooper, who commented on Clarkson's post: 'My wheat got wet in the trailer last night as the convo stopped me in the rain in Chippy. Tourists killed on Ukraine beach as swimmers set off sea mines in water
The huge explosion happened as people flocked to the resort amid high temperatures. At least three beachgoers have been killed after sea mines drifted towards popular tourist beaches in Ukraine. So far three people have been confirmed dead after a horror double explosion near Zatoka beach near the city of Odesa in the south of the country. The Black Sea resort had been baking in temperatures of around 30C drawing many locals and tourists to the seaside to cooling off in the sea. But the idyllic scene turned to disaster when two of the explosive devices detonated, causing destruction amongst the sunseekers. It's not the first time beachgoers have been killed by mines on beaches around the historic city of Odesa, as Ukrainians try to keep some semblance of normality in their lives as the war rages on with Russia in the east of the country. Authorities have previously been closed in the area because of mines drifting towards the shore, but a recent closure was lifted, reports the Express. Sea mines have become the preferred method used by the Russians to target Ukrainian shipping targets in the Black Sea after the Kremlin's navy suffered heavy losses at the start of the invasion in 2022. Ukraine has deployed mines to defend against Russian amphibious assaults and NATO allies have also been producing the destructive ordnance. The Sun reports local news outlet Dumskaya said the victims, a woman and two men, were swimming when two explosive devices detonated around 50 metres away from the shoreline. Odesa regional chief Oleh Kiper confirmed: 'All of them have been killed by explosive devices while swimming in areas prohibited for recreation.' Since the war began in 2022 the Black Sea around the Russian and Ukrainian coast has become a dangerous place for shipping and bathers as sea mines have been heavily deployed, and a number of unexploded mortars and aerial bombs have been recovered by Ukrainian bomb disposal experts near beaches. Strong currents, heavy rainfall and shifting tides can force the mines to break free from their original positions leaving them to dangerous drift towards the shoreline. Trump said next Friday's meeting with his Russian counterpart on US soil, which was once owned by Russia, would focus on ending the war, now in its fourth year. In response, Ukrainian President Zelensky thanked European allies in a post on X, writing on Sunday: 'The end of the war must be fair, and I am grateful to everyone who stands with Ukraine and our people."
