A third joked that she needed to "take annual leave" to ensure she was at home during the Australia Post delivery window.
Now, the postal service has announced that from May 19, its customers will be able to access a photo of a postie's attempted delivery via the AusPost app.
"When a postie is unable to deliver a parcel, they will take a photo of the front door of the property to confirm delivery has been attempted," a spokesperson told ACM.
"We're focused on improving the digital and delivery experience for our customers.
The spokesperson said the initiative would "enhance the transparency of when a delivery is attempted" and also provide an "assurance" when they can't leave the parcel at the address.
Customers could opt out of attempted delivery photos by calling customer service, the spokesperson said.

Australian shoppers are tipped to spend $10.5 billion on end of finiancial year sales, up $400 million on last year. New figures released by the Australian Retailers Association (ARA) and Roy Morgan found that more than a quarter of Aussies - around 6.1 million people - will once again hit bricks and mortar stores to snap up a deal. It also revealed that the percentage of people planning to spend online is down 11 per cent on last year. ARA Chief Industry Affairs Officer, Fleur Brown, said the downward turn may indicate people are planning to hit the stores more this year for 'bigger-ticket bargains'. Ms Brown said the most popular categories this year are clothing, footwear and accessories, household appliances, white goods, electronics and tech. She said the sales are important for retailers this year, given the slowdown in discretionary spending during the cost of living crisis. 'Household budgets have been under significant strain and the mid-year/EOFY sales are a great opportunity for shoppers to get great value for money,' she said. 'Many savvy shoppers are on the lookout for work-related products to claim on their tax return. This is making computers, phones, and other technology highly sought after.' Harvey Norman's Executive General Manager for Computer Technology Darren Salakas said the biggest trend this year is 'Next Gen AI devices.' These include Windows PCs, laptops, mobiles and connected home tech, while gaming PCs and wearable tech were also in high demand. 'There's a major trend happening at the moment where tech lovers and professionals are investing in these powerful PCs, not only to supercharge their productivity at work, but for their gaming experiences when they get home,' he said. 'Wearable tech is also booming. Leading the charge is the sleek new Ray Ban meta smart glasses, which combines fashion and function.' Officeworks General Manager of Merchandise Jarryd McCarthy said supplies like paper, ink, pens and Post-Its are high on EOFY shopping lists. 'EOFY is also a key moment for shoppers looking to update their office set up for both form and function, with sit stand desks, ergonomic chairs, office storage and filing items all popular tax time purchases,' he said. Mr McCarthy's top tip for the sales is to get in early. 'June 30 falls on a Monday this year so we're expecting the last weekend of June to be particularly busy,' he said. MYER Chief Merchandise Officer Belinda Slifkas said customers are looking for greater value without compromising on quality investing in seasonal items that deliver warmth, style and longevity. But there are deals right across homewares, beauty, fashion, tech and travel. 'We've seen a strong lift in demand for winter home comforts, particularly for flannelette sheets and quilts. Customer favourites like air fryers, cookware sets and vacuums remain popular,' she said. 'In fashion, trench coats and oversized silhouettes have been standout performers, especially in seasonal tones like camel and burgundy. 'Through our Pay with Points partners like CommBank, Virgin Velocity and AMEX, it provides even more ways for customers to save on their purchases. Tubi CEO Anjali Sud ‘excited' about company's plans to grow in Australia

The CEO of fast-growing streaming service has hinted at the company's plans to continue expanding in Australia. Tubi was launched in the US in 2014 and, while it may not have the same name recognition among Aussies as competitors like Netflix and Binge, there is one major thing that sets it apart. While customers of other streaming platforms have been hit with price hikes, Tubi's ad-supported services are completely free, with users able to access thousands of shows and movies without having to pay a cent. The Fox Corporation-owned service has been available in Australia since 2019, with a library of about 7000 movies and TV shows, making it the largest free catalogue of its kind in Australia, even rivalling the amount of titles available to local Netflix users. Speaking with Tubi CEO, Anjali Sud, said she is 'thrilled' about the work that is already being done in Australia, with plans to keep that momentum going. 'We feel right now that we have a lot of commitment to invest and to grow in Australia,' she said. However, Ms Sud understands the company needs to 'earn' the attention and time of Australian viewers by adopting a 'local mentality'. 'We're very aware that to do this well all comes down to listening to Australian audiences and Australian viewers,' she said, adding that she was 'excited' for Tubi to continue to grow. Asked if we could expect to see any Tubi jobs popping up Down Under anytime soon, the CEO said, 'I certainly hope so'. 'I very much hope that we'll continue to scale and be able to bring in folks into the team,' she said. The company, which has over $1 billion in revenue, currently has under 700 employees, which is a leaner operation than many media companies operating at this scale. However, Ms Sud believes this is a positive thing, noting they have tried to resist the bureaucracy that tends to occur and 'slow things down' as operations increase in scale. Within the workplace itself, the CEO said there is a focus on cultivating an 'authentic' culture, which embraces all the different personalities within the team. Team members are also encouraged to take 'big swings', regardless of whether it ultimately works out. 'We do a lot to actually not just celebrate success, but celebrate failure. Celebrate that, when you fail, you learn something and it's better to try than to not,' Ms Sud said. 'We've tried to destigmatise failure and really celebrate fearlessness.' And it seems this mindset is working, with the company growing exponentially since Ms Sud joined the team as CEO towards the end of 2023. In her first full year leading the company, Tubi's audience grew to more than 80 million users, expanded further globally by launching in the UK and solidified the streaming service as a major entertainment destination. Ms Sud is no stranger to leading innovative, fast growing companies, previously serving as the CEO of global video platform Vimeo, a title she earned at just 33 years old. She described the process as 'terrifying' but also 'transformational', with the role teaching her to trust her instincts, a lesson she has been able to put into practice since going over to Tubi. 'What I've learned is it's easy to kind of have conviction or passion or bet on something, but it's so much more powerful when that's coming from a really deep understanding of your users,' Ms Sud said, adding that Tubi's ability to listen to its users was one of the reasons she wanted to join the company. The CEO also isn't afraid of making changes in order to ensure Tubi continues to grow. One of the things she is most excited for when it comes to the future of the company is to help platform creators and connect them with wider audiences. 'I just think there are so many incredible, important stories out there that can't find their audience, and there are so many creators and storytellers, and even more emerging now in digital and social channels that want to be able to produce high quality, long form content,' she said. 'No one, even YouTube I think, has not yet cracked how to bring the creator economy to Hollywood. Ms Sud knows this is a big goal and not something that will 'happen overnight', but, given Tubi's track record, it is something she believes can be done. 'We are really thinking about the future of entertainment, and we're really trying to embrace more diverse storytelling and more diverse storytellers,' she said. 'There is a lot to be excited about with that work.'

A farmer stuck in the back paddock without mobile reception can now send a text message, a GPS location and even the ubiquitous cowboy emoji via satellite technology. Farmers will be among Telstra customers able to use Australia's first satellite-to-mobile text messaging service from Tuesday morning as the telco begins rolling out its collaboration with SpaceX. Samsung Galaxy S25 series users will be able to connect to Starlink direct-to-cell satellites, allowing them to send texts from outdoor locations beyond the Telstra mobile network. Other devices, including Apple iPhones, will be enabled in coming weeks or months, while satellite voice and low-speed data may come online sometime after 2027. The technology will particularly benefit regional Australians, Telstra executive Channa Seneviratne said. "I was up in the Gympie shire (in Queensland) talking to a farmer who said he had some really remote paddocks and didn't have mobile coverage there," Mr Seneviratne told AAP. "He said he works late and he'd like to let the family know that he's OK ... so this product is perfect for those sorts of uses. "It's a really exciting advancement in our technology for this massive land area that we call home." Engineers have been testing the technology for much of 2025, going to far-flung places across Australia to check whether they can send texts, GPS coordinates and emojis via satellite. Telstra has faced backlash from regional Australians in recent months after the closure of the 3G network in October left some in rural areas with patchy coverage. The Regional Telecommunications Review also heard of unreliable mobile coverage in country areas, including in emergencies and after natural disasters. Major telcos have long maintained improved satellite technology could bridge some of those gaps, with Starlink broadband connecting rural Australians for years. Satellites are among several advances, along with repurposing the 3G spectrum for the 5G network, Mr Seneviratne said. "Of course, we accept Aussies want more and we want to do more," he said. The new service would not connect users directly to triple zero, but may help people get in touch with family or friends during an emergency. "It's a move towards providing an additional safety net for all of those customers who live, work and play outside of terrestrial coverage."
