'Weird Al' Yankovic to bring comedy rock show to Waite Park
The just-announced BIGGER & WEIRDER 2025 tour includes a Thursday, Sept. 11 stop at The Ledge Amphitheater in Waite Park.
"After two world tours in smaller venues with scaled-down, intimate shows featuring his original songs, Weird Al now returns to the big stage for the first time in six years, playing his iconic hits as well as some fan favorites, which have never been performed live," the tour announcement shares.
The multimedia production will include a giant video wall, multiple costume changes and an eight-piece ensemble featuring Weird Al's original band, according to the announcement.
A pop culture icon, Weird Al has won five Grammy awards and joins Madonna and Michael Jackson as one of three artists to ever chart in the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 in four consecutive decades.
The 65-year-old performer is known for his parodies of hit songs from artists such as Taylor Swift, Usher, Nirvana, Eminem, Queen, Lady Gaga, and more.
Tickets go on sale Friday, March 7 at 10 a.m. at Ticketmaster.com

Kaytranada Returns With New Album ‘Ain't No Damn Way'
For the second summer in a row, Haitian-Canadian producer Kaytranada is getting people dancing with a new studio album. The Grammy-winning DJ has released his fourth album Ain't No Damn Way!, the follow-up to last year's Timeless. Kaytranada gave little warning for the release, announcing the LP earlier this week and dropping lead single 'Space Invader' shortly thereafter. Like with Timeless, Kaytranada plays with a wide range of sounds and rhythms on the project, from more upbeat tracks like 'Championship' and 'Don't Worry Babe / I Got U Babe' to laid-back offerings like 'Things' and 'Shine Your Light For We.' He even samples TLC's 'Let's Do It Again' on closing track 'Do It! (Again!).' In recent years, Kaytranada has fully stepped into his power, unafraid to create beats or make musical tweaks that he feel might not resonate with listeners or collaborators. 'I always used to be very shy in the studio and sometimes let the artists just do their thing because I didn't want to correct them or anything. It took me a while to understand, OK, I got to be the one that says 'Do it like this,'" he told Rolling Stone last year. "I don't have a leader mentality. I'm learning to do that now.' Now, Kaytranada is 'trying to make Grammy-winning albums.' 'I just want to be remembered as one of the greats in terms of producing, not only dance and electronic but also just production in general,' he told Billboard. Kaytranada hits the road with Justice on a co-headlining tour across North America this fall. It all kicks off Oct. 16 in Vancouver and wraps up Nov. 16 in Miami. Before then, fans can listen to the producer featured on Teyana Taylor's forthcoming album Escape Room, due out next week.

Cyndi Lauper to celebrate musical legacy with Bay Area crowd
Decades into her career, Cyndi Lauper still just wants to have fun. The pop singer got her start in the late '70s and rose to mainstream fame with her debut album, 'She's So Unusual,' in 1983. The record included her smash hit 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' and skyrocketed to the top of the charts in more than 25 countries. After years of entertaining, the Grammy winner opted to wind things down with her 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' farewell tour, which kicked off in October 2024 and stopped at Chase Center last November. The San Francisco show saw her 'bop,' shimmy and rock out to her hits, from 'True Colors' to 'Time After Time.' Despite its title, Lauper has clarified that the tour is not a retirement sendoff. The 72-year-old said she'll be open to occasional performances, and wanted to make sure she made one more push for an arena tour while she was still strong enough to give it her all. The trek, her first world tour since 2016, is scheduled to stop in the Bay Area once again at Mountain View's Shoreline Amphitheatre.

Noting that Queen Elizabeth "took the order of precedence very seriously," he shared the intricacies of curtsying—and how Princess Anne took royal etiquette even more serious than most. Brown wrote that Queen Elizabeth "expected everyone, including her sister, her mother and her children, to greet her with a bow or a curtsy"—even when "others in her circle" thought the practice was "roughly a couple of centuries out of date." Throughout her 70-year reign, members of the Royal Family dutifully bowed or curtsied to Queen Elizabeth—even when viewing her coffin—but Brown noted that one member of the family "took it further." According to the author, "A friend of Princess Anne noticed that she would automatically stand up when taking a telephone call from her mother."
