Himachal: 400 roads closed due to landslides, flash floods
The Auto-Sainj road, NH 305, has been blocked near Jahed and Banjar in Kullu district.
A total of 400 roads were closed for vehicular traffic. Of these, 240 were blocked in Mandi district while 100 roads were closed in the adjoining Kullu district on Saturday as per the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC).
The local MeT office issued a yellow warning of heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in isolated areas of the state on Saturday and Sunday, and an orange alert of heavy to very heavy rains in isolated areas of the state from Monday to Thursday.
Light to moderate rains lashed a few parts of the state, and Naini Devi 112.4 mm, Pandoh 102 mm, Raipur Maidan 74.6 mm, Pachhad 67 mm, Narkanda 66.5 mm, Kasauli 65.5 mm, Kufri 55.2 mm, Nahan 49.3 mm, and Solan 45.6 mm.
Around 112 people have died in rain-related incidents this monsoon so far, while 37 are missing. Additionally, 704 transformers and 178 water supply schemes have been affected, the SEOC said.
Since the onset of monsoon on June 20, Himachal Pradesh has incurred losses totalling Rs 1,988 crore. The state has witnessed 58 flash floods, 30 cloudbursts and 51 major landslides so far.

Shimla: Mandi and Kullu districts continue to be the worst affected due to incessant rains and the monsoon disaster, which has resulted in a cumulative loss of Rs 1,988 crore in Himachal Pradesh to date. Shimla, Aug 9 (PTI) Heavy rains lashed Himachal Pradesh in the last few days, triggering several cloudbursts, flash floods and landslides, leading to the closure of 362 roads for vehicular traffic, officials said on Saturday. Of these, 220 roads were blocked in Mandi district, and 91 in the adjoining Kullu district on Saturday, according to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC). The Met office in Shimla has issued a yellow warning for heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning at isolated places in the state on Sunday, and an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rain in two to four districts from Monday to Wednesday. Death toll due to monsoon rains in Himachal rises to 219
Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India] August 9 (ANI): The death toll in Himachal Pradesh due to monsoon rains has risen to 219 with 112 people losing their lives in rain-related incidents and 107 fatalities reported in road accidents, according to the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA).As per the cumulative report issued by the SDMA as of August 9, Mandi district has suffered the highest toll in rain-linked disasters, with 23 deaths, followed by Kangra (25), Chamba (9), Kullu (10), and Kinnaur (7).The road accident fatalities have been highest in Mandi (20), followed by Shimla (15) and Solan (11).The state has also reported extensive damage to infrastructure and livelihoods, including 832 houses damaged, 37 shops and factories destroyed, and over 27,000 hectares of crops cumulative damage to public and private property has been estimated at over Rs 1,98,881 lakh. This includes a loss of Rs 1,145.27 lakh in the Jal Shakti Vibhag sector, Rs 1,933.68 lakh in PWD, Rs 1,045.05 lakh in urban development, and heavy damages to agriculture, horticulture, power, health, and education and bird deaths have also been significant, with 1,591 livestock and 25,755 poultry birds officials said restoration work is underway across affected areas, but continued heavy rain is hampering efforts to fully restore roads, power, and water supply schemes in several like Mandi, Kullu, and Solan continue to report major disruptions.
