OnePlus is testing a display upgrade
The brand hasn't used such a high refresh rate ever before, but is serious about bringing this feature to its lineup. Interestingly, an unnamed mid-range OnePlus phone would be the first to get it, with the flagship line possibly following suit after that. OnePlus 13
The screen in question will have "1.5K" resolution, and that makes it perfect for both a mid-ranger and the upcoming OnePlus 15, since this device has already been rumored to come with a downgrade in resolution. Perhaps OnePlus is trying to make that sting less by offering a higher refresh rate instead.
That's all well and good of course, but ColorOS / OxygenOS / Realme UI are notoriously not friendly towards high refresh rate gaming - for example, we didn't get any of the titles in our usual test suite to go above 60Hz/60fps on the OnePlus 13. With that in mind, it's unclear what the point of going to 165Hz even is - perhaps just to have a nicer-looking, higher number on the spec sheet? In normal use the difference between 120Hz and 165Hz is hard to notice, we'd say. OnePlus 13

Xiaomi posts record-high revenue in Q2 as smartphone, EV shipments rise
Xiaomi follows up on its record-setting Q1 with a similarly strong Q2 result this year. Total revenue for the Xiaomi group reached a record high of CNY 116 billion, which is a 30.5% increase compared to the second quarter last year. The smartphone business remains Xiaomi's biggest segment, followed by IoT and Lifestyle products, but the combined Smart EV, AI and Other New Initiatives segment is growing quickly. Impressively, this is the fifth consecutive quarter of year-over-year (YoY) growth of over 30%. This is also the third consecutive quarter with revenues of over CNY 100 billion. From all that, the adjusted net profit was CNY 10.8 billion (+75.4% YoY). Let's have a closer look at the smartphone business. Xiaomi is the third-biggest company globally in terms of shipments with 42.4 million units shipped in Q2 (+0.2% YoY). This is close to Apple's performance for the quarter of 44.8 million (-1.8% YoY). Breaking this down by region, Xiaomi is #1 in Southeast Asia, #2 in Europe, the Middle East and Latin America and #3 in Africa. In Mainland China, it is #4 in terms of shipments based on data by Canalys. To put that in monetary terms, Xiaomi's smartphone revenue for Q2 2025 was CNY 45.5 billion, down 2.1% YoY. This corresponds with a lower (-2.7% YoY) Average Selling Price (ASP) of CNY 1,073 (this converts to $149). That said, sales of premium Xiaomi phones in Mainland China are growing – they now make up 27.6% of all sales in the country, up 5.5 percentage points. Xiaomi's tablet sales are doing well too, the company is #5 globally and #3 in Mainland China. Globally, it shipped 3.1 million tablets this quarter, which is a 42.3% increase YoY. Xiaomi sells tons of wearables too – its smart bands are #1 globally and #2 in Mainland China, while its TWS buds are #2 globally and #1 in Mainland China. The company is breaking into new segments too with the recent launch of the Xiaomi Smart Glasses. Through our sister site, ArenaEV, we've been tracking Xiaomi's rise in the electric vehicle market too. Quarterly deliveries for Q2 reached 81,302. This July, monthly deliveries of EVs exceeded 30,000 units. Since the beginning (5 quarters ago), total deliveries are now over 300,000. Xiaomi is expanding its retail network. Sticking with EVs for a moment, in Q2 it had 335 stores across 92 cities in Mainland China. For all its products, there are now over 17,000 stores in China and around 200 retail stores abroad. It's not just phones and cars, Xiaomi sells just about everything. Air Conditioners posted an impressive YoY growth of over 60% in Q2 with more than 5.4 million units shipped. Washing Machines shipped 600,000+ units for a growth of over 45% YoY. Refrigerators grew over 25% YoY to 790,000+ units. Entering new segments can be expensive – Xiaomi's Smart EV, AI and Other New Initiatives segment has been losing money for now, but operating loss neared the break-even point in the last couple of quarters. It was CNY 0.5 billion in Q1 this year and dropped to CNY 0.3 billion in Q2. Xiaomi is boosting its R&D spending – it went up 41.2% YoY in Q2 and is expected to reach around CNY 30 billion this year. This covers things like developing its new chipset, the Xring O1, tech for its EVs, working on AI and more. Source 1 (PDF) | Source 2 (PDF)

Realme P4 and P4 Pro arrive with 7,000mAh batteries and 80W charging
Peter, 20 August 2025 Realme launched the P3 series earlier this year, now it ticks up to the P4 generation. Both phones have massive 7,000mAh batteries with fast 80W charging along with large 144Hz OLED displays with 6.8' diagonals (or so). The Realme P4 Pro is not a wholly unique model, rather it's quite close to the Realme 15 Pro – the 50MP ultra-wide camera is replaced by a more basic 8MP unit and the build has been altered by dropping the aluminum frame and reducing the IP68/IP69 rating down to IP65/IP66, but that's about it. Realme P4 Pro at a glance The P4 Pro has a 6.8' 1280p+ 144Hz OLED display with 10-bit colors and 6,500 nits of peak brightness. It's protected by Gorilla Glass 7i and has an optical fingerprint reader underneath. Note that the display is slightly curved on all four sides. This model is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 paired with 8/12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128/256/512GB of UFS 3.1 storage (non-expandable). It runs Android 15 with Realme UI 6.0 out of the box. Realme P4 Pro highlights On the rear, the main camera uses a 50MP Sony IMX896 sensor (1/1.56') and an f/1.8 lens with OIS. The ultra-wide (112°) as mentioned has an 8MP sensor. The selfie camera, however, retains its 50MP sensor and (like the main camera) is capable of 4K video recording at 60fps. Realme P4 Pro in: Dark Oak Wood • Birch Wood • Midnight Ivy The Realme P4 Pro will be available in India from August 27 at an introductory price. The base 8/128GB model starts at ₹25,000, the 8/256GB one is ₹27,000 and the 12/256GB one is ₹29,000. For reference, this converts to $290/$310/$330, respectively. You can also find it on Flipkart. Whether the P4 series go global like the P3 series did remains to be seen. By the way, we have a Realme P4 Pro in for review, so stay tuned for a detailed look at the new model. The Realme P4 is also not entirely novel, but it does have more changes to its name – we're comparing it to the Narzo 80 Pro. It adds an ultra-wide camera – just an 8MP module, but the Narzo had none – 1,000mAh more battery capacity and it boosts the display to 144Hz. Said display is a 6.77' OLED panel with 10-bit colors and 4,500 nits peak brightness. It has 1080p+ resolution and is flat. The under display fingerprint reader is also the optical kind. Realme P4 highlights The vanilla P4 is powered by the Dimensity 7400 6/8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128/256GB UFS 3.1 storage (there's no microSD slot here either). Like its Pro sibling, it runs Android 15 with Realme UI 6.0 out of the box. The 50MP camera here is based on the smaller OmniVision OV50D sensor and lacks OIS. Also, video recording at 4K tops out at 30fps. The front-facing camera is a 16MP module with 1080p @ 30fps video capabilities. Both the P4 and P4 Pro have 7,000mAh batteries with 80W Ultra Charge support. They are rated IP65/IP66 for resistance against low and high pressure water jets. These are dual-SIM 5G phones with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4 support. They have IR blasters but no NFC. Realme P4 in Steel Grey, Engine Blue and Forge Red The Realme P4 will be available in India from and Flipkart later today with a starting price of ₹18,500 for the 6/128GB model. The 8/128GB option goes for ₹19,500 and the 8/256GB model is ₹21,500. These convert to $215/$225/$245. Source 1 | Source 2
