University of Doha for Science and Technology celebrates 2025 convocation
DOHA: Under the patronage of Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) has held its 2025 convocation.
The graduation ceremony at the Qatar National Convention Center was attended by Shura Council Speaker HE Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, Minister of Education and Higher Education HE Lolwah bint Rashid bin Mohammed Al Khater, along with officials, dignitaries, and the graduates' parents.
A total of 323 outstanding students were honored.
This week, the university will organise three graduation ceremonies for a total of 1,166 graduates from the colleges of Business, Computing and Information Technology, Engineering and Technology, and Health Sciences.
This year's convocation featured the graduation of the first cohort with a Postgraduate Diploma in Interprofessional Neonatal Intensive Care and the first batch with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Healthcare Management.
UDST President Dr Salem bin Nasser Al Naemi highlighted the institution's key achievements, including the launch of new academic programs, such as the Bachelor of Aeronautical Engineering and Management, in collaboration with Qatar Airways, Airbus, and international academic partners.
Al Naemi boasted the UDST graduates' academic potential, which makes them well-prepared to meet future challenges amid the rapid technological and AI developments.
Speaking on behalf of the graduates, Hamad Al Sharshani reveled in being the first Qatari graduate from the Master of Science in Diabetes Care and Education program, praising the University's pivotal role in preparing distinguished national cadres.
The ceremony saw a visual presentation showcasing the students' educational journey and concluded with distributing certificates for the graduates who wore graduation gowns designed and manufactured by a Qatari fashion house.
To date, UDST has graduated more than 10,000 students, while more than 8,500 students from over 85 nationalities are still pursuing their studies across diverse academic programs, reflecting the university's commitment to diversity and excellence.

Saudi Health Ministry honours Qatari Hajj medical unit for its outstanding services
QNA Riyadh The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Health has honoured the Qatari Hajj Mission's medical unit, in recognition of its effective role in providing high-quality healthcare services in the 1446 AH Hajj season. In this context, medical unit head Dr. Khalid Abdul Hadi received a certificate of appreciation on behalf his team. This recognition reflects the medical unit's outstanding services, which stem from its objective of providing Qatar's pilgrims with a fully integrated healthcare system in Mecca and the holy sites around the clock. The medical unit's clinics are staffed with a specialized medical team of various specializations, including internal medicine, cardiology, emergency medicine, infectious diseases, ENT, nursing, ambulance services, and pharmacy. In a statement issued Monday, the Qatari Hajj mission said that this recognition is the result of the State of Qatar's approach under its wise leadership to offer the country's pilgrims with the highest levels of support and care, with the Qatari Hajj mission's service, technical, and support units unifying their efforts to ensure that pilgrims perform their rituals in a safe and healthy environment that provides maximum peace of mind and comfort. The medical unit has set up field clinics fully equipped with state-of-the-art medical apparatus and has deployed a top-level ambulance and a team of doctors and nurses to monitor and accompany pilgrims across holy sites, including Arafat, Muzdalifah and Mina, to ensure a rapid response to emergencies. The Qatari Hajj mission's healthcare services are one of the most outstanding aspects of Qatar's Hajj experience. They consist of proactive medical care, applying the highest safety and prevention standards, in addition to raising pilgrims' awareness and educating them on health-related matters before and during the pilgrimage. QCS launches ‘Hope Gathering' to support Qataris living with cancer
Tribune News Network Doha As part of its ongoing efforts to provide psychological and community support to cancer survivors, Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) launched the 'Hope gathering' initiative, a heartfelt gathering that brought together Qatari women living with cancer in an atmosphere filled with warmth, compassion, and positivity. The initiative aims to provide a safe space for participants to connect, share experiences, and offer one another emotional support. It serves as a human-centred encounter carrying messages of hope and optimism, celebrating inspiring individuals who have overcome the challenges of the disease and become a source of strength and motivation for others. The evening was opened with a speech by Mona Ashkanani, general manager of Qatar Cancer Society, who welcomed the attendees and expressed her joy at organizing such an event, describing it as 'an important step towards strengthening social cohesion and support for women living with cancer'. 'It is truly inspiring to witness these shining examples of resilience and courage. At QCS, we believe our doors should always remain open to your suggestions, ideas, and initiatives,' she noted.
