‘Anger and tears': Relatives receive Pahalgam victim bodies at Mumbai airport
Mumbai: Mumbai airport descended into gloom after the dead bodies of four Maharashtra tourists were received by their relatives on Wednesday.
The victims have been identified as Dilip Desle (Panvel) and Sanjay Lele, Hemant Joshi, and Atul Mone (Dombivli).
The relatives of these victims were in a state of shock, there was palpable anger, and they were in tears.
One of the relatives of Desle was insisting that she wanted to see the face of Dilip Desle, but the authorities politely turned her request down.
Another young relative, though, crying relentlessly, expressed his condolences and raised the 'Bharat Mata Ki Jay' slogan.
'As a nation, we stand together to strongly condemn the cowardly attack and ultimately remain united to make the more stronger. The perpetrators should not go unpunished,' said the relative.
The relatives and those present at the airport also observed a two-minute silence.
A relative of Hemant Joshi claimed that it was a horror what they witnessed on April 22.
Maharashtra ministers Ashish Shelar, Mangalprabhat Lodha, and Gulabrao Patil, including BJP executive president and Dombivli legislator Ravindra Chavan and BJP legislator from Panvel Prashant Thakur, were present on the occasion.
Ravindra Chavan accompanied the relatives of the victims from Dombivli, while Prashant Thakur went with the relatives of Desle.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced a financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the families who lost their loved ones during the cowardly terrorist attack at Pahalgam and Rs 50,000 to the injured.
In the wake of the terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, the state government has appointed two officers to assist the affected citizens at the State Emergency Operations Centre.
Manager of the State Emergency Operations Centre, Visheshkar Suryavanshi, and Control Room Officer, Nitin Masale, have been appointed at the Ministry Control Room.
At least 26 tourists and local civilians were killed on Tuesday after gunmen opened fire on innocent civilians in Baisaran in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to eyewitness accounts, a group of heavily armed terrorists emerged from the nearby forests and opened indiscriminate fire on civilians, most of whom were tourists.
Baisran is a small meadow three to four km from the Pahalgam market, and tourists take horses to reach the place as there is no motorable road to it.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday morning after cutting his Saudi Arabia trip short due to the terror attack.
He had a brief meeting with NSA Ajit Doval, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri at the airport. PM Modi strongly condemned the terror attack on Tuesday, stating that the guilty will be brought to justice and reaffirming India's 'unshakable' resolve to fight terrorism.

Delhi CM inspects slum clusters in north-west Delhi
Chief minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday inspected several slum clusters in northwest Delhi's Shalimar Bagh and other assembly constituencies and inaugurated development projects aimed at improving the living conditions of thousands of residents in Nehru Camp, Haiderpur, and Ekta Camp in Pitampura. Denying claims made by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders, she also said that no slum will be demolished without first providing permanent housing to its residents. 'No slum will be demolished without providing proper housing to its residents. We will not let anyone spread fear and rumours. FIRs will be filed against those spreading false information about demolitions,' she said. This came even as AAP Delhi president Saurabh Bharadwaj held meetings on Sunday with residents of JJ clusters in Adarsh Nagar and Model Town, claiming that residents were terrified and unsure when the bulldozers would reach their doorsteps. 'We discussed in depth how the newly elected BJP government in Delhi is demolishing the jhuggis of thousands of downtrodden and working-class families, rendering them way the BJP-led Delhi government is targeting jhuggi settlements one after another, it seems the party does not want poor and working-class people to live in Delhi,' Bhardwaj said. He added that the AAP would protest against the demolitions in JJ clusters of Delhi at Jantar Mantar on June 29 and appeal to the central government to take appropriate action on this issue. Gupta also laid emphasis on sanitation infrastructure, announcing a 24-seater public convenience centre at Nehru Camp, Haiderpur and inspected another proposed 20-seater facility near U and V blocks of the JJ Cluster. 'The Jan Suvidha Kendra at Nehru Camp will directly benefit women, children and senior citizens who have long suffered due to lack of access to safe toilets,' Gupta said. She added that these facilities are critical not only for convenience, but also for public health and dignity. 'This is an important step toward our vision of 'Swachh Delhi, Swasth Delhi',' she said. Accompanied by local MLAs and officials from the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB), Gupta also inaugurated CC pavement work in Ekta Camp, Pitampura. 'For too long, people here have walked through muddy, uneven lanes. These new pavements are not just about roads — they're about restoring dignity and safety,' Gupta said. The CM's inspection also included on-ground reviews of pipeline laying work, road resurfacing, and park maintenance. Caught on camera: Restaurant vandalised over delay in food service in Ghaziabad
Panic broke out late Saturday night at a restaurant in Ghaziabad when a group of armed men stormed in and vandalised the premises, causing chaos amongst diners, including women and children. The incident occurred in the Rajnagar Extension area at a restaurant called Apni Rasoi around 11:30 to the FIR filed by the restaurant owner, Akshit Tyagi, the ruckus began over a delay in food service. Initially, there was a heated exchange of abuses. A few hours later, around 6–7 individuals arrived on motorcycles and a WagonR taxi and attacked the restaurant wielding sticks, rods and the violent attack, the men allegedly damaged two laptops, an LED screen, and a billing machine. They also reportedly took Rs 1,760 from the billing counter. At the time of the incident, several families, including women and children, were dining at the restaurant. Frightened by the sudden violence, they fled the scene to save their lives. WATCH: The entire episode was captured on the restaurant's CCTV cameras, which police are now examining to identify the culprits. Tyagi also alleged in his complaint that some of the accused had previously visited the restaurant on June 6, drunk and involved in a brawl, but the matter was settled that of three accused have come to light - Mintu Tyagi, Rajdeep, and Ravi Sharma. Based on the complaint, an FIR has been registered under IPC sections 352 (assault or use of criminal force), 115(2), 324(4), 351(3), and 309(6).Police are now scrutinising the CCTV footage to identify and arrest the accused.
