Wynonna Judd Says Spending Time with Her Granddaughter Taught Her 'There Is Life After Death' Following Loss of Mom Naomi
Wynonna Judd is sharing that she's discovered there's "life after death" by spending time with her granddaughter Kaliyah
The country singer's mother Naomi Judd died by suicide in 2022
Judd became a grandmother in 2022 and has been raising her daughter Grace Kelley's daughter KaliyahWynonna Judd is finding happiness by spending time with her granddaughter.
The country singer, 60, recently appeared on Circle Country and spoke about losing her mom, Naomi Judd, to suicide at the age of 76 on April 30, 2022. During the episode, the musician also shared that bonding with her granddaughter Kaliyah has been a light in the darkness for her.
"What do you do with that kind of crap that happens to you? You feel so helpless, and there's a mystery there as to why. So I had to go through that, like you did, right?" Judd said to host Clint Black, whose father also died by suicide.
"You kind of had more of a why than I do, because everybody thought she was okay. Everybody thought everything's okay, and it's not okay. You don't know what's going on," she continued. "I was on tour and distracted."

Judd went on to say that they didn't know how much her mother was struggling because she was a "light to everyone else." But on the inside, she was "crumbling."
"And it's just a weird time. This past year, I've learned so much about myself, and now that I'm with my grandbaby 24/7, I'm learning that there is life after death," said Judd of her granddaughter Kaliyah. "And if I can go out on this tour, this is heavy, and I can go out on stage and I can help someone decide to stay instead of leaving, then I've done my job."
"And I just know that what we're going through after our parents' death is, I'm now an orphan. I have to decide whether the cup is half full or half empty," she added.
Judd became a grandmother after her daughter Grace Kelley welcomed Kaliyah in March 2022.

In January, Judd co-hosted Today with Jenna & Friends and opened up about what life looks like for her as she's been raising her granddaughter. The musician has been caring for her granddaughter after her daughter was arrested multiple times.
"I don't have a computer. I don't watch television unless it's planned 'cause I'm raising my 2½-year-old granddaughter, I listen to her," Judd shared on the show at the time. "So I don't really, I do a lot of Instagram."
Jenna Bush Hager then asked if Judd watches any kids' TV shows, such as Bluey, with her granddaughter. Judd said that while Kaliyah isn't interested in the animated show, she does like Ms. Rachel, and Judd joked, "I'm about to lose my mind."
"Listen, I have three kids switch to — now I like Ms. Rachel, nothing wrong with Ms. Rachel," Bush Hager responded.
"I do too. I just can't talk like that. I wish I could be that animated, but I just don't know how," Judd joked, with the two women later agreeing that they like Peppa Pig.

Mountain hikers spot rare herd of animals outside Los Angeles
A group of hikers in the San Gabriel Mountains recently encountered a rare sighting: a large family of bighorn sheep. As seen in images posted by the Instagram account @lahikes on May 29, hikers discovered the herd of shy and elusive creatures nestled in the forest north of Los Angeles. Environmentalists said that to find so many bighorn sheep at one time is very rare, and the social media post explained the sighting as 'a difficult phenomenon to capture.' 'As we sat there for over half an hour watching these animals do their thing on the cliffs opposite of ours, it was a treat to capture,' read the post's caption. 'They usually stick together for protection,' explained the post's slideshow. 'Males are seen with the large curved horns and overlook the tribe.' The images showed and explained how the bighorn sheep family was grazing by clinging to the precipitous mountainside with their hooves. According to the National Wildlife Federation, the animal's outer hooves are 'modified toenails shaped to snag any slight protrusion, while a soft inner pad provides a grip that conforms to each variable surface.' The federation's website adds, 'Although not as agile as mountain goats, bighorn sheep are well-equipped for climbing the steep terrain that keeps their predators at bay.' This species of sheep typically lives in rugged, mountainous terrain in the Rocky Mountain National Park, Yellowstone National Park, Grand Canyon National Park and, apparently, in L.A.'s backyard as well. Arena rebrand part of Downtown Hartford's revitalization
HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — The XL Center is now becoming the PeoplesBank Arena. The building is getting major renovations and attracting more concerts more games and events. It could all lead to some big changes for downtown Hartford, revitalizing the neighborhood. XL Center to be renamed PeoplesBank Arena 'I'm just coming to visit Hartford for some nice video shoots for our TikTok and Instagram,' said Vlad Mosnytskyy, an influencer from New York City. With a new arena name comes new bunker suites, a premium club, new lower-bowl seating, a kitchen, concourse upgrades, new locker rooms for the athletes and green rooms for the artists.'This is going to be the heart and center of what we are trying to do, with the revitalization of Hartford,' Gov. Ned Lamont (D) said. 'I think you will see it in terms of a lot more activity here, much more frequently.' Add that onto the housing boom surrounding the Hartford Yard Goats at DUNKIN Park, there is new construction, new tourists, and new opportunities. 'If you rewind 10 years ago, what was there now, it's a whole different ball game,' Hartford Yard Goats President Tim Restall. Sticking with a baseball metaphors, the Yard Goats welcome the changes at PeoplesBank Arena.'There are a couple of runs that just scored today and someone is taking the lead,' Restall said. 'It's good to see what's happening with the downtown and all the renovations going on at the arena.' On Main, Albany, and High Street, and they're still building as part of the downtown expansion. Around the corner is the new police department, and they say they're going to continue to develop and continue to improve, making the downtown spread out and reach into the local neighborhoods.' 'Thirty five years of looking at this, I hope I'm here for the next 35 years,' Chuck Davis of Hartford said. 'I doubt it, but it looks beautiful, just like the stadium is beautiful, and you can see the work that they're doing on the Civic Center too hopefully I can get back to how it was.' For a couple of gentlemen who grew up in Hartford in the 1960s, they say Hartford is moving in the right direction. 'I think it's looking up, I like what they're doing in front of the ballpark the apartments, I like a lot of these things and these changes are going on with our administration, it's nice,' Dwight Teal of Hartford said. Hartford Mayor Arunan Arulumplam is picking up where his predecessor Luke Bronin left off by continuing to bridge from the city into the neighborhoods. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
