Melaka receives RM940k for youth and sports facility upgrades
State Youth, Sports and Non-Governmental Organisations Committee chairman V.P. Shanmugam said the projects were part of 133 applications submitted by the state government.
'The allocation will be distributed to District and Land Offices as well as local authorities, which own the approved sports facility sites,' he said during the Melaka State Legislative Assembly sitting at Seri Negeri.
Shanmugam urged cooperation between authorities and the Melaka Youth and Sports Department to ensure timely fund disbursement for repairs and upgrades.
He was responding to a question from Datuk Zahari Abd Kalil (BN–Durian Tunggal) on maintenance timelines for public sports facilities like futsal courts and fields.
Additionally, Shanmugam highlighted major projects under the 12th Malaysia Plan, including synthetic pitch upgrades at the Melaka Youth and Sports Complex, improvements to the Krubong Community Sports Complex, and hockey field upgrades at Bukit Serindit Hockey Stadium.
Other approved projects include the Melaka Sports Council Badminton Hall upgrade, facility improvements at the Sailing Training Centre in Kuala Sungai Baru, and a Mini Sports Complex construction in Bemban, Jasin. - Bernama

OD Esports crowned champions of Mobile Legends tournament in conjunction with HPPNK 2025
KOTA KINABALU: OD Esports emerged as champions of the 'Mobile Legends NAFAS-NEKMAT' e-sports tournament held in conjunction with the 2025 National Farmers, Breeders and Fishermen's Day (HPPNK) celebration at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) here today. The event also saw 11 individuals walk away with attractive lucky draw prizes, including an electric scooter, a gold wafer coin and a wristwatch, while Wan Mohd Salleh Mahrawi was announced as the grand prize winner of a motorcycle. Sarawak to upgrade traffic parks for better road safety education
SIBU: The Sarawak Ministry of Transport will upgrade traffic parks statewide to strengthen road safety education for students. State Transport Minister Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin announced that six existing parks in Sibu, Kuching, Sri Aman, Sarikei, Bintulu, and Miri will receive special allocations for improvements. The Rejang Park Traffic Garden in Sibu, built over 30 years ago, has been allocated RM350,000 for upgrades. Lee said, 'Upgrading these facilities is important so that students can learn and understand traffic rules through real-life experiences that simulate actual road situations.' He spoke at the opening of the Sarawak Traffic Games (STG) today. Lee also revealed plans to expand the number of traffic parks under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), ensuring every division in Sarawak has at least one fully equipped facility. 'We are committed to expanding access to road safety education for more students and rural communities,' he added. The STG, a revival of the Shell Traffic Games discontinued in 2015, was reintroduced last year in Miri. The next editions will be held in Sri Aman and Bintulu later this year.
