Prithvi Shaw to leave Mumbai after MCA grants NOC
Confirming the development, MCA secretary Abhay Hadap said, 'He is an exceptional talent and has contributed significantly to Mumbai cricket. We respect his decision and wish him the very best in his future endeavours…'
In a statement later in the day, the MCA acknowledged and appreciated Shaw's contributions over the years and extended best wishes for his continued success.'
In his letter to the MCA, the 25-year-old said that he had been 'presented with a promising opportunity to play professional cricket under another State Association' for the upcoming domestic season.
The former India Under-19 captain was dropped from Mumbai's Ranji Trophy squad last season, with the selection committee citing fitness concerns.
Shaw hasn't played List A cricket in India since the 2022 Vijay Hazare Trophy — in his most recent outing for Mumbai two seasons ago, his last five scores were 32, 54, 39, 51, and 10.
Earlier this year, Yashavi Jaiswal had taken an NOC from the MCA and was set to play for Goa. But he made a U-turn later and stayed back in Mumbai.
Sources have indicated that the batter has offers from a couple of state units and he is currently considering his options.

He caught the eye of Sunrisers Hyderabad's scouts before this year's IPL, and is set to attend Chennai Super Kings' trials later this year. 'In the SRH trials, I hit five sixes in an over. My name came up in the accelerated auction, but unfortunately I wasn't picked.' If he continues in the same vein in the DPL, a chance in the big league may not be far away.

A teenage prodigy, Prithvi Shaw remains an incredible talent in Indian cricketing spectrum despite setbacks he has gone through the last few years. The opening batter, once touted as the next Sachin Tendulkar, hasn't had much going his way the last few years. Still young and able to fix mistakes from the past, Shaw a smashed a brilliant century on debut in a Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament match against Chhattisgarh. The batter, however, doesn't have the same support from past and current cricketers that he did during his Under-19 days with the Indian team. Speaking after the end of play on Tuesday, Shaw said that he is starting from scratch again, looking to put the basics in place. "I don't mind coming from scratch again because I've seen many ups and downs in my life ... I'm kind of a very confident guy, confident in myself, my work ethics. I feel, I hope that this season will go really well for me as well as for my team," said Shaw. "I don't want to change anything. I just went back to basics, doing things that I used to do in Under-19 days, which got me to the Indian team, just doing all the stuff back again, you know," said the 25-year-old. "Practicing more, gym, running. It's small things, obviously, it's not that big because I've been doing these things since the age of 12 and 13." What a knock!
