Early morning blaze razes 5 squatter homes in Jalan Klang Lama

KUALA LUMPUR: Five squatter houses on Jalan Klang Lama were destroyed in a huge fire during the early hours of today.
Several images of the towering flames, visible from nearby condominiums along Jalan Klang Lama, circulated shortly after the incident, which occurred at around 1am.
City Fire and Rescue Department Operations Commander Armdan Mahat said the emergency call was received via the MERS999 line at 1.45am.
"A total of 27 personnel and officers, together with six fire engines from the Seputeh Fire Station, and support from Hang Tuah, Pantai, and Sri Hartamas Fire Stations, were dispatched to the scene," he said in a statement today.
The team arrived six minutes later to find five squatter houses ablaze.
"The fire was brought under control at 2.23am, and overhaul operations are currently ongoing," he added.
Fortunately, all the affected houses were unoccupied at the time, and no casualties were reported.

No casualties were reported in the incident, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation. "A total of 44 firefighters from four stations — Bandar Tun Razak, Jalan Hang Tuah, Cheras, and Sentul — were deployed to the scene. "The operation involved four Fire Rescue Tenders (FRT), two water tankers, one Aerial Ladder Platform (ALP), and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit," Azizi said in a statement today. The fire was fully extinguished by 6.18am.

SEMPORNA: A fire destroyed three two-storey shoplots in town, Tuesday. A spokesperson from the State Fire and Rescue Department said they received a distress call following the incident at 3.03am via MERS999. A team of nine firefighters was dispatched to the scene in a fire engine and EMRS vehicle. 'The fire involved the first floor of a two-storey shoplot, measuring 45X30 feet. 'The firefighters were using three water streams with three sprouts to combat the blaze,' said the spokesperson. No casualties were reported.
