Apply for new ration cards: NMC Commissioner
The Commissioner along with the officials has accepted representations from the public during Public Grievance Redress System (PGRS) at Command Control Room (CCR) located in the premises here on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion Y.O. Nandan has said that following guidelines the beneficiary should approach at their respective Ward Secretariats to own the applications.
The commissioner has cleared that it will be mandatory for newly married couple to submit official marriage confirmation certificate to secure the application for new ration cards.
While saying that municipal administration has taken up silt removal in the drains in a big way, the commissioner appealed the people who encroached the drains by constructing structures should voluntarily remove them in the interest of maintaining proper sanitation.
The commissioner has appealed the people to apply for Under Ground Drainage (UGD) connection as the government provide it for just Rs 1.
While asserting the government's commitment in providing houses for shelter less poor, the commissioner has urged the people to apply as the government will provide under Pradhana Mantri Awas Yojana-2 (PMAY-2) through Andhra Pradesh Township and Infrastructure Corporation (APTIDCO) without delay. He also said that poor can also apply for house sites under the same concept.
The commissioner has analyzed that total 40 representations on various issues were received during PGRS on Monday.
Apart from Engineering 8, Housing 21, Town planning 10, and 1 related to Administration. On this occasion the commissioner ordered the officials to sort out the petitions in a time bound manner to void the petitioners rounding the office.
Deputy Commissioner Chennudu, Engineering SE Ram Mohan Rao, Health Officer Dr. Chaitnya and others were present.

Eluru Collector distributes touch phones to hearing-impaired beneficiaries
District Collector K. Vetriselvi on Monday distributed touch phones worth ₹1.52 lakh to eight hearing-impaired beneficiaries. The distribution took place at the Godavari Meeting Hall in the District Collectorate as part of the PGRS (Public Grievance Redressal System) programme. Each beneficiary received a smartphone worth ₹19,000, aimed at enhancing their communication and digital inclusion. As per government norms, free smartphones are being provided to hearing-impaired persons who are above 18 years of age, possess a BPL (Below Poverty Line) ration card, and have at least 40% certified disability. The initiative is part of the Andhra Pradesh government's continued efforts to bridge the digital divide and foster inclusivity for persons with disabilities.

Jammu & Kashmir: 679 houses completed under PMAY in Bhaderwah
BHADERWAH : The Centre has completed 679 houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana ( PMAY ) in Jammu and Kashmir 's Bhaderwah, the Block Development Officer said. The implementation of the PMAY in Jammu and Kashmir 's Bhaderwah mirrors the government's steadfast commitment to ensuring housing for all. In the financial year 2023-24, 718 beneficiaries were identified, and 679 houses have already been completed, marking a significant milestone in rural infrastructure and welfare. Bhaderwah Block Development Officer Yasir Ahmed Wtold ANI, "The completion of 679 houses in a single financial year under PMAY is a testament to our team's dedication and the government's vision of 'Housing for All'. Special focus was given to poor and tribal families who were living in unsafe and unhygienic conditions. Today, many of them have permanent homes with proper facilities, which has significantly improved their standard of living." "We are committed to ensuring 100 per cent saturation of eligible beneficiaries in the coming months," the officer added. Homeless people are getting homes in the hilly terrains of Bhaderwah under the PMAY. This flagship rural housing scheme has dramatically improved the lives of underprivileged families, particularly those from economically weaker sections, by fulfilling their long-held dream of owning a home. For residents like Shahdi Lal, a 66-year-old daily wage labourer from Bhaderwah, the scheme has been life-changing. Shahdi Lal told ANI, "Earlier, I had faced many problems while living in a dilapidated mud wall house with my children and family, particularly during thunderstorms and the rainy season. However, with the government's help, I have now acquired a new house under the PMAY. I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the district administration for providing us with a pucca house." "At my age, it was no longer possible to build a house with my limited income as a labourer. PMAY has provided a lifeline in the form of a resilient home that withstands the severe cold. It has changed the quality of life for my family," he said. As the region continues to benefit from the focused implementation of welfare programs, Bhaderwah stands as an example of how effective governance can bring about lasting, grassroots-level transformation.
