Steve Haney, the player's attorney, told The Detroit News that the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York is in charge of the probe. As per the outlet, he further said:

Man wanted in case of fake loan docus used to secure bail held
Indore: Crime branch of Indore police on Friday arrested a 61-year-old man, who was absconding for three years in a major case involving fake loan passbooks used to secure bail from courts. Additional DCP Rajesh Dandotiya said that the accused, Ramesh Kalota, a resident of Barodi Hatod was part of a gang that created forged loan documents to fraudulently secure bail for individuals involved in serious crimes. With this arrest, the total number of accused held in the case has reached 37. During the arrest, the police recovered three fake loan passbooks and a notarised stamp related to a lost passbook from Ramesh's possession. Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused was operating this racket for nearly a decade, either providing fake sureties or posing as a surety himself to facilitate bail for several accused in criminal cases. Ramesh admitted to working with other members of the gang, contacting families of arrested individuals, charging hefty sums in exchange for bail, and producing forged documents to secure their release. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Iconic 90s Women: The Crushes of a Generation Boite A Scoop Undo Information obtained from various courts indicated that Ramesh submitted fake loan documents in at least ten court cases, prompting police to initiate correspondence with the respective courts to begin proceedings for cancellation of those bails. Both were subsequently booked separately and arrested by the crime branch. A specially formed SIT team led by ACP Devendra Singh Dhurve was tracing absconding accused and curbing such fraudulent operations in the city. As part of this continuing operation Ramesh has now been booked under IPC sections 420, 467, 468, 471, and 34 at the crime branch police station. 1 2 3 Hyderabad: A 35-year-old woman was stabbed to death by her estranged husband in front of nearly a dozen guests at a birthday celebration at his niece's house in Abdullapurmet on Thursday night. According to Abdullapurmet police, the victim, S Sammakka, had moved to Abdullapurmet from Suryapet only a fortnight ago, having separated from her husband, S Srinu (50), due to repeated quarrels. The accused was taken into custody by police in Hayathnagar on Friday evening. On Thursday, she was invited by Srinu's niece, Rajeswari, 38, to her daughter's 14th birthday celebrations at their second-floor rented flat in SC Colony, Abdullapurmet. "The party began around 7 pm, and the cake-cutting ceremony was scheduled for 7:15 pm. Around ten guests, most of whom were neighbours and relatives, were present," said Abdullapurmet inspector V Ashok Reddy. At around 7:15 pm, Srinu arrived at the party and took a seat in the corner. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Dominican Republic: Kitchen Remodeling Trends in 2025 May Surprise You Kitchen Remodeling | Search ads Search Now Undo Moments before the cake was due to be cut, Sammakka appeared in front of him, filming the event on her mobile phone. "Suddenly, Srinu pulled out a knife and stabbed Sammakka three times in the neck while shouting accusations of an illicit affair," Rajeswari alleged in her police complaint. Sammakka collapsed to the floor and died on the spot. The shocked guests raised the alarm. The landlord, Gunde Balraj, and his sons, Pavan and Shiva, tried to overpower Srinu on the ground floor as he attempted to escape. Brandishing the bloodstained knife, Srinu threatened them and fled on a motorcycle. On Thursday night, Rajeswari lodged a complaint against her maternal uncle, Srinu, and Abdullapurmet police registered a case against him under section 103(1) (murder) of the BNS. Sammakka's body was taken to Osmania General Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The police seized the victim's phone, which had the video recording when she was stabbed. Based on the preliminary investigation, long-standing marital discord appears to have led to the murder. "Sammakka was Srinu's second wife. His first wife, Kalavathi, Sammakka's elder sister, is chronically ill. Srinu has four children with his first wife and two with Sammakka. The preliminary probe revealed that Srinu suspected his wife of infidelity, which was the motive for the murder," said Vanasthalipuram ACP P Kasi Reddy.
