Foolproof security measures underway for UG medical entrance exams
NEW DELHI:
To ensure the smooth conduct of the upcoming NEET-UG exam, which will be held at over 5,000 centres across the country, the Education Ministry has held multiple meetings with district magistrates and police superintendents to ensure the security of all exam-related materials, according to a source.
The medical entrance exam will take place in more than 550 cities on May 4.

authored by Sajjan Yadav, the source said, 'A foolproof plan has been put in place. Magistrates and superintendents of police will ensure that all examination centres assess their preparedness. District-level teams will handle all logistics.'
Question papers and OMR sheets will be transported under complete police protection, and coaching centres will be closely monitored to prevent any malpractice.

Earlier, after launching the book, Pradhan praised the role of NCERT books in disseminating knowledge, stating that most IAS aspirants who cleared the civil services exams had studied them.
When asked about the recent changes made to the Class VII social science textbooks of NCERT—specifically, the replacement of chapters on the Mughals and the Delhi Sultanate with those covering Magadha, the Mauryas, and other Indian dynasties—the Minister said he would address the issue later.

State to work hard on improving primary health services: CM Fadnavis
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday said the state government will lay more emphasis on improving the network of primary health in the state. He also criticised Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha over his allegations of an election scam in Maharashtra. 'The Maharashtra Government has taken a decision to overhaul the primary health services in the state. We will focus hard on improving the primary health network in the State,' Fadnavis said, adding that his government will invest heavily in health. He was speaking during the inauguration of the Pushpalata D Y Patil Hospital in Ambi-Tarangwadi in Maval taluka of Pune district. MP Shrirang Barne and MLA Sunil Shelke besides Vijay Patil, chancellor of D Y Patil University, Navi Mumbai, Sanjay Patil, chancellor of D Y Patil University, Kolhapur vice-chancellor Shivani Patil were present. Fadnavis said, 'Patients get free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh under Mahatma Phule Janarohya Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Janarogya Yojana. The poorest of the poor are getting treatment…Besides focusing on primary health, the government is also working on strengthening secondary level health service.' Fadnavis said the state has with the help of the Central Government started 10 medical colleges in Maharashtra. 'We are going to set up medical colleges in every district,' he said. Fadnavis also visited the state-of-the-art laboratory of 'The John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group (ISG facility)' in Sanaswadi area ahead of its inauguration, where he reviewed its pioneering technological innovations and capabilities. Suspend ‘in-house' subject admission plans, state tells CU
1 2 3 Kolkata: The state higher education department has instructed Calcutta University to suspend its plans to open admissions for a few 'in-house' undergraduate courses, indicating that the centralised admission portal will start functioning shortly. Calcutta University made a decision following a faculty council meeting held on May 21 to initiate admission procedures for some 'in-house' UG courses like food and nutrition, human development, and music, leaving OBC criteria aside primarily to avoid legal issues. However, after the decision, the advertisement for admission was not published. Sources said officials from the higher education department told the university to slow down and not start the admission process before the centralised admission portal (CAP) goes live. A CU official said, "There should be parity between all undergraduate courses run across affiliated colleges and the university. We cannot start classes until the official date is declared by the state higher education department. We are ready to start the admission process any day as we are completely prepared." Calcutta University's interim vice-chancellor Santa Datta Dey said, "We are more concerned about the undergraduate courses across all our affiliated colleges that have been waiting for the admission process to begin. We took a decision for our in-house UG courses, but the entire system is stalled due to the OBC-related matter. How long will students wait in this uncertainty? The admission process can begin leaving this reservation-related dispute, and alternative arrangements can be made after the matter is resolved. " She also indicated that they were still consulting lawyers to get clear ideas about all legal provisions related to this matter. All 159 affiliated colleges under CU and other colleges and universities that admit students through the centralised admission portal are still waiting for the portal's commencement date. Rabindra Bharati University conducts UG admissions for fine arts and visual arts on its own, while admissions for other subjects is conducted through the admission portal. RBU has not decided any date for the commencement of admissions. However, private and autonomous institutions are midway through the process. Colleges like St Xavier's, Scottish Church and Shri Shikshayatan have already closed their admission portals and started publishing merit lists, too. A CU college principal said, "Private colleges are wrapping up their admissions while we are still uncertain about the commencement date. This is a clear sign of a challenge to fill seats this year, too. At the same time, Bengal will lose bright students as they will not wait for this delay."

Earlier in the day, Pradhan, Governor of Karnataka, Thaawarchand Gehlot and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav inaugurated a hostel and staff quarters at Prime Minister Shri Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya-2. The Union Minister Pradhan and CM Yadav also performed a ritual and inaugurated the hostel and staff quarters. In an X post, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan shared glimpses of the event and appreciated Navodaya Vidyalaya, Kendriya Vidyalaya and Sandipani Vidyalaya for working to create meritorious students under the National Education Policy 2020. He wrote, 'Today, along with Hon'ble Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav ji, Hon'ble Governor of Karnataka Thaawarchand Gehlot ji and other colleagues, inaugurated the new hostel and staff quarters of PM Shri School Navodaya Vidyalaya-2 in Alot, Ratlam and Sandipani Vidyalaya, Alot.'
