Runaway concrete truck plows into Daly City homes
The incident happened shortly before 11 a.m. on Shipley Avenue near Simpson Drive between Callan Boulevard and Gellert Boulevard. The truck crashed into the front of a parked vehicle before plowing into one home and coming to rest embedded in the house next door, leaving both with significant structural damage.

The North County Fire Authority told CBS News San Francisco that there were no injuries reported, but more than a dozen people were displaced as a result of the crash.
The Daly City Building Department red-tagged both buildings, and Pacific Gas and Electric crews were on hand to shut off utilities to the homes.
Crews worked for hours to transfer the cement to another truck so it could be extricated from the building.

Meanwhile, emergency room visits related to tick bites have spiked in 2025, reaching their highest level in five years, according to the CDC's Tick Bite Data Tracker. The CDC reported by July 6 that the number of emergency department visits for tick bites had already exceeded nearly 10 years of July records, with 92 visits per 100,000 reported across the nation. Children ages 0 to 9 and people over the age of 70 were the most common of these ER visitors. Why is this tick season so bad? Climate change is one of the main factors impacting tick populations, according to experts at the Binghamton University Tick-borne Disease Center. 'Ticks can now move further north than they could before and establish populations,' Mandy Roome, associate director of the center, has said. 'Going back maybe 15 or 20 years ago, there wasn't much of an issue. Ticks were still around, people still got tick-borne diseases, but it wasn't quite the problem that it is now. We're also having really mild winters. Deer ticks are active anytime it's over 39 degrees, so we have a lot longer active periods for ticks now, unfortunately.' Roome said land use can also affect the tick population. She said construction activity can create new habitats for animals like mice, which can pass on pathogens to ticks. What is Lyme disease? "And longer warmer weather also allows for there to be more exposure to ticks, because people are out more." Why are tick bites dangerous? Ticks can carry several diseases capable of infecting humans and animals. People typically get Lyme disease, for example, when they are bitten by a tick carrying borrelia bacteria, according to the Mayo Clinic. Chargers LB Denzel Perryman arrested on weapons charges and remains in jail
Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman was arrested on weapons charges during a traffic stop for vehicle code violations and remained in jail on Saturday, law enforcement officials said. During the traffic stop on Friday evening, Los Angeles Sheriff's deputies discovered five firearms, including two assault weapons, in Perryman's vehicle, the agency said in a statement. Perryman, 32, was cooperative with deputies during the traffic stop, the report said. Perryman was booked on felony charges and is being held without bond at the South Los Angeles Sheriff's Station, according to the sheriff's department. Agent Ron Butler confirmed that his client has not been released from jail. Perryman is scheduled to appear at Inglewood Court on Tuesday, the sheriff's department said. 'We are aware of a matter involving Denzel and are gathering information,' the Charges said in a statement. Chargers Linebacker Denzel Perryman Facing Weapons Charges
Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman is facing felony weapons charges after a traffic stop in Los Angeles on Friday night. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department confirmed to The Athletic that Perryman remained in jail Saturday morning. Perryman, 32, is entering the second season of his second stint (also 2015-20) with the Chargers. The Chargers issued a statement that they are 'aware of a matter involving Denzel and are gathering information.' Perryman's agent, Ron Butler, also released a statement. 'We are aware of the recent reports regarding Denzel Perryman's arrest in Los Angeles,' the statement read. 'At this time, we are still gathering facts and will fully cooperate with the process. Denzel is a respected veteran in the NFL and a dedicated father, teammate, and professional. While we do not take this situation lightly, we remain confident that the matter will be resolved fairly and in accordance with the law. Perryman registered 55 tackles and one sack in 11 starts for the Chargers in 2024, missing six games with a groin injury. A second-round draft pick by the then-San Diego Chargers in 2015, Perryman has posted 717 tackles, 7.5 sacks, five interceptions and three fumble recoveries in 119 games (99 starts) with the Chargers, Las Vegas Raiders (2021-22) and Houston Texans (2023). He made the Pro Bowl in 2021 with a career-high 154 tackles for the Raiders.
