After Mumbai Indians progressed to the second qualifier of IPL 2025, an old video featuring Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav has resurfaced online. It dates back to 2023, when Surya, a senior member of the Mumbai unit, pulled a hilarious prank on Tilak on a mid-air flight. The team was supposedly travelling from one city to another for an IPL match. Tilak, visibly tired, was taking a nap while sitting on a window seat, and Surya took it as an opportunity. The Indian T20I captain took a piece of lemon from a flight attendant and squeezed it inside Tilak's open mouth.
It took some seconds for the youngster to realise the sour taste as he woke up in shock and asked, 'Kya ho gaya? Kya hai isme?" (What happened? What's in there?) Surya certainly enjoyed his teammate's startled reaction. He was spotted laughing at Tilak after playing the successful prank. Other members of the Mumbai unit were also left in splits.
The video, initially posted by the Mumbai Indians during IPL 2023, has been reshared by a fan with the title– 'Surya bhai squeezes lemon into Tilak's mouth when Tilak bhai is sleeping peacefully."
The clip was once again hit on social media, attracting reactions from many cricket fans. The comment section was soon filled with laughing emojis after the post was dropped on Instagram.
Referring to Surya and Tilak's camaraderie, one fan said, 'Love this duo." Another suggested that Surya should try the same lemon prank on former Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma. 'Surya bhai tried his 'supla shot' here," quipped a viewer.
Speaking about their ongoing campaign, the Mumbai Indians remain just a few steps away from their sixth IPL title. Following a resounding performance in the second half of the league stage, MI sealed their berth in the Eliminator.
Mumbai met Gujarat Titans in the knockout clash in Mullanpur on Friday, and dominated the proceedings. Rohit Sharma chipped in with an 81-run knock while Johny Bairstow struck a blistering 47 as MI set a huge target of 229 runs. Gujarat were also able to breach the 200-run mark, but ended up falling 20 runs short of the required total.
Mumbai Indians will face Punjab Kings in Qualifier 2 of IPL 2025 on Sunday, June 1, in Ahmedabad.
