Linen shorts loved by Cat Deeley are 'super for hot weather'
Waistcoats and linen are a match made in heaven when it comes to warm-weather styling, and Cat Deeley has just proved why with an affordable co-ord from the high street. The This Morning presenter stepped out in a breezy linen-blend shorts and waistcoat set on Wednesday's show - and it costs less than £50.
Styled by Rachael Hughes, Cat's ensemble perfectly balanced relaxed tailoring with summer-friendly ease, making it the ideal outfit to wear to the office in a heatwave. Her waistcoat, priced at £22.99 down from £35.99, is made from 70% cotton and 30% linen, making it a breathable and cool piece when temperatures soar.
The burgundy top features classic lapels and a button fastening, but usually comes with a daring low V neckline. Cat often likes to put her personal stamp on outfits, and to make this one more daytime TV-friendly, her version appears to have been tailored, moving the button over to create a slightly more asymmetric neckline for added chest coverage.
Offering a more modest design is this Burgundy Longline Waistcoat at Nobody's Child. It's currently in the sale for £67.15 down from £79, however, it does have 20 buttons to close down the front, which may prove tedious for some. Alternatively, for £32, shoppers may enjoy the Friends Like These Burgundy Statement Button Waistcoat at Next. Designed in a heavy compact knit, it's a dreamy design but might not be quite as well suited to the warmer weather.
The 48-year-old teamed her waistcoat with the matching pair of creased linen-blend Bermuda shorts. Originally £32.99, they're also reduced to £22.99, meaning you could get the entire look for £45.98.
The shorts feature neat pleats for a smart feel, practical side pockets and a zip-and-button fastening. Crafted from the same airy fabric, they're light and airy, making them a true summer staple that can be reworn on holiday with a vest top and straw hat, too.
On the Reserved website, one shopper wrote: ' Super for hot weather, thin airy material, standard size.' Another wrote: 'Airy, mega and super fit the body over time.'
One was miffed at the sizing, commenting: 'Very nice shorts with a good composition, carefully sewn, the downside is the size - M too small, L too big.' A fourth wrote: 'Super, very nice cut and material.'
Another high-street brand Cat has been spotted wearing is Boden, most recently its Evia Ruffle Swimsuit in classic black, at £85. The piece is popular for its 'flattering' fit, with lightly padded cups and slimming fabric. It's available in sizes 6-20, with both regular and long lengths available, catering to everyone.
Cat Deeley can't get enough of halter necks, either, it seems, having worn one on at least seven occasions on This Morning in June alone. One of those was the Silk Satin Halterneck Top + Tie from popular British brand ME + EM, paired with a Flared Cotton Skirt from Mango, though the latter has since sold out. The top comes in at £195 and is available in five colours, from Iris and Topaz Blue, to Cat's preferred light cream.
But for anyone looking to channel Cat's laid-back chic, this co-ord is affordable, polished and still cool enough to wear when temperatures rise. Shop it on the Reserved website here.

One satisfied customer shared: "I purchased this lovely shirt and jumper combination for a video interview, and I was really pleased with how it looked. "The bright white, soft cotton collar gives it a smart appearance and the jumper is made from a beautifully soft wool." The Blue Stripe Layered Jumper with Wool and Cotton Shirt is available for purchase from Next at a price of £19.50. A second equally happy shopper added: "Really flattering & I opted for the size 10. Covers my wrinkly arms too!" Someone else remarked: "Lovely dress. Would say sizing is slightly large because of the shirred back. The fabric is a nice weight and the skirt is a good shape for skimming bumps and lumps. Pockets are handy. Not see through." Not everyone found the style to be flattering, as one three-star review read: "Absolutely beautiful dress but unfortunately didn't look great on me, size 16 with boobs and a tummy! Gutted as I love the dress." Meanwhile, someone happier with their purchase added: "This is lovely! Looks more expensive than it is. Really flattering on, perfect for summer!" in the sale now.

‘How are we going to make this Belfast street look like Bangkok?': Actress on filming in NI during weather warning
Kelly's new thriller, In Flight, was filmed in Northern Ireland, despite being set in multiple locations across the globe. 'It's a really ambitious project, we filmed it in Belfast but it's set in London and it's got to look like anywhere in the world,' she told on ITV's This Morning. But Kelly said the cast and crew came into difficulty while trying to film a scene which was set in Bangkok. 'Not only did we do it in Belfast in the winter but there was an amber weather warning on the day,' she said. Kelly said she initially feared they would be forced to postpone filming. 'I was like 'How are we going to make this Belfast street look like Bangkok?' and also 'How are we going to do it today because it's not going to stop raining today?'' she said. Despite the bad weather the team managed to finish the scene. 'Actually we shot it that night because it needs to look all moody and we had about 35 supporting artists,' she continued. 'And we all had summer clothes on, flip flops, freezing in the rain, I mean we were literally like, dragging our feet through puddles. 'I honestly thought we were gonna have to reshoot that but it looks incredible. You gotta keep watching because it's not until the end but it looks absolutely brilliant.' Kelly praised the show's Belfast born director, Chris Baugh and producer, Brendan Mullin for bringing the show to life. 'Chris and Brendan [are] our producer/director team, they are born and bred Belfast, their creativity is second to none and they know every nook and cranny of Belfast,' she said. In Flight follows the story of a flight attendant who is blackmailed into smuggling drugs after her son is arrested. Filming took place in Belfast in November 2024, with exterior shots and pub scenes being filmed at Clenaghan's just outside of Moira, Co Down. The Channel 4 series is available to watch on All4 now.

This Morning star forced to change after getting text from boss on air ITV viewers saw Andi Peters and Emma Willis detail the latest headlines during Wednesday's show. Presenter Andi Peters found himself embarrassed during the opening moments of This Morning when he had to adjust his outfit live on air. At the start of the ITV programme, which saw one celebrity return this week following their wedding, audiences witnessed Andi adjusting his shirt whilst standing next to Emma Willis. She asked: "Have we caught you getting dressed?" He responded: "I've had a text from one of our bosses, Ryan. I mean, I use the word boss loosely!" As the ITV personality unfastened one of his buttons, he asked his boss who was watching whether that looked any better before seeking guidance from his colleague. He questioned: "What do you think, Em?" She responded: "Oh, day three and we're on Em! I love it." Whilst seated at the desk, he informed Emma: "This top has gone viral, people want to know should I have two buttons, one button, four buttons? You went open first didn't you?" Emma stated she favours it completely unfastened to reveal the white T-shirt beneath, with one of the guests expressing agreement. Emma was shocked by Andi's brutal remark (Image: ITV) Tom Swarbrick couldn't resist a playful jab, saying: "I just really like how Clodagh's brought the farm and you've brought the bowling alley! Between the two of you, it's lovely." Article continues below Andi responded with laughter, retorting: "Says the man in a black t-shirt!". Eventually, he decided to leave his shirt open, describing the experience as 'quite freeing' to his ITV colleagues. He added: "Also, it's boiling hot in here so I feel a little bit cooler." This Morning is available to watch on ITVX.
