Blake Harper has his HBCU and power programs on list
Blake Harper still has his HBCU in his orbit - along with a pair of Power Four schools.
The former Howard University standout, has reportedly narrowed his list of potential destinations to four: Creighton, LSU, Ohio State, and a possible return to his HBCU - Howard University. The news, confirmed by Klutch Sports, signals a major move for the freshman phenom who took college basketball by storm in 2024-25.
Harper's transfer decision comes just weeks after he officially signed with Klutch Sports for NIL representation. The agency, known for representing stars like LeBron James and Anthony Davis, brings Harper into a high-powered network of opportunity. His quick alignment with Klutch-within hours of entering the transfer portal-sent a strong signal about the rising trajectory of his career and the serious interest he's receiving from high-major programs.
The 6-foot-7 guard became the first player in MEAC history to win both Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year honors in the same season. Harper averaged 19.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game, while earning MEAC Rookie of the Week 18 consecutive times. His dynamic playmaking made him a beacon of HBCU basketball excellence and a regular feature on national highlight reels.
Many HBCU fans had hoped Harper would return for a sophomore run, but his meteoric rise and growing national attention made that outcome seeming unlikely. While his entrance into the portal doesn't officially rule out a Howard return, it is widely expected that he has played his final game in an HBCU uniform as schools like LSU and Ohio State have significant resource advantages. And while Harper has made it clear previously that money will not be THE deciding factor, it is still likely come into play.
Still, Blake Harper's historic year at Howard shines as a testament to the talent that exists at HBCUs-and the power of platforms like Klutch Sports to elevate those athletes onto higher-paying programs.

Advertisement The 23-year-old averages 19.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 9.3 assists per game this year and is coming off one of the best rookie seasons in WNBA history. In 2024, she was named an All-Star, selected to the All-WNBA First Team and All-Rookie Team, won Rookie of the Year and led the entire league in assists. She also admitted that Clark needs to improve her off-ball play and cut down on turnovers. Advertisement "I think the thing about Caitlin, yes, she can shoot from the logo, but she makes her team better," Parker said. "And so I think just in terms for her, it's going to be moving, what are you doing without the ball in your hands? And I think it's going to be taking care of the ball for her, those two things." Parker also talked about how common it is for young players to turn the ball over, calling it a learning experience early in their careers. "That's like learning," Parker added. "I think all of us young turn the ball over, and especially when you're the focal point of the entire defense. You know, you're going to have more turnovers, you're going to have more live ball situations, and the competitive element of you, you do tend to take chances early on." Advertisement Despite playing in only four games so far this season, Clark leads the league in turnovers per game with 5.0, slightly down from her average last year (5.6). On May 24 against the New York Liberty, she recorded a career-high 10 turnovers. Caitlin Clark amped up after Angel Reese gets called for travel
It was prepped to be a Caitlin Clark-Angel Reese battle on Saturday. The Commissioners Cup matchup between the Fever and Sky was set to be on a CBS national broadcast for that purpose and the game was moved to the Bulls' United Center to meet the demand of fans. It wasn't to be as Clark is still nursing a quad injury suffered last month, but there was still drama between the 2024 Rookie of the Year and the former LSU star during the Fever's 79-52 win despite Clark not being on the court. Advertisement During the third quarter, Reese was called for a travel violation when gathering herself for a shot attempt. Following the call, Clark jumped off her team's bench and excitedly made the travel motion with her hands. 5 Caitlin Clark points the other way to the crowd, indicating it's Indiana's ball after Angel Reese created the turnover with a travel. The reaction went viral on social media given the history between the pair that dates back to high school and came into the public eye in college. 5 Caitlin Clark, center, makes the travel violation motion with a white paper in her hands after Angel Reese is called for the violation. @TheHoopCentral 5 Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese (5) drives to the basket against Indiana Fever forward Natasha Howard (6) during the second half of a WNBA game at United Center. During the third quarter of that gameafter Reese grabbed an offensive rebound off a miss by teammate Rebecca Allen, Clark gave her a big shove to the floor underneath the basket, preventing Reese from getting off a shot. Reese immediately got up and went after Clark to send some choice words her way, and they had to be separated by players from both teams. 5 Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (22) fouls Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese (5) in the second half at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The Sky went on to lose their fifth game of the season on Saturday, which puts them in the fifth slot of the Eastern Conference and No. 11 in the league. Reese only scored four points, shooting 2-for-7 from the field, but she grabbed 12 rebounds and added two assists. Clark, who was recently sidelined at least two weeks with a quad strain that was revealed on Memorial Day, has been very active despite not being on the court. 5 Caitlin Clark (22) applauds her teammates during the first half of a WNBA game against the Chicago Sky at United Center. Kamil Krzaczynski-Imagn Images In her first game on the bench, Clark served as a quasi-assistant coach, giving her opinion to the officials at halftime of the team's 83-77 loss to the Mystics. The broadcast also noted that Clark initiated a video replay. At the halftime buzzer, Clark made her way onto the court, pointing toward the floor with a piece of paper in her hand. She tried to make her point known to two referees before joining an Indiana assistant and pleading to one referee before walking off the court.
