Blake Harper has his HBCU and power programs on list
The former Howard University standout, has reportedly narrowed his list of potential destinations to four: Creighton, LSU, Ohio State, and a possible return to his HBCU - Howard University. The news, confirmed by Klutch Sports, signals a major move for the freshman phenom who took college basketball by storm in 2024-25.
Harper's transfer decision comes just weeks after he officially signed with Klutch Sports for NIL representation. The agency, known for representing stars like LeBron James and Anthony Davis, brings Harper into a high-powered network of opportunity. His quick alignment with Klutch-within hours of entering the transfer portal-sent a strong signal about the rising trajectory of his career and the serious interest he's receiving from high-major programs.
The 6-foot-7 guard became the first player in MEAC history to win both Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year honors in the same season. Harper averaged 19.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game, while earning MEAC Rookie of the Week 18 consecutive times. His dynamic playmaking made him a beacon of HBCU basketball excellence and a regular feature on national highlight reels.
Many HBCU fans had hoped Harper would return for a sophomore run, but his meteoric rise and growing national attention made that outcome seeming unlikely. While his entrance into the portal doesn't officially rule out a Howard return, it is widely expected that he has played his final game in an HBCU uniform as schools like LSU and Ohio State have significant resource advantages. And while Harper has made it clear previously that money will not be THE deciding factor, it is still likely come into play.
Still, Blake Harper's historic year at Howard shines as a testament to the talent that exists at HBCUs-and the power of platforms like Klutch Sports to elevate those athletes onto higher-paying programs.

Bulls would have won '3 or 4' titles with healthy Derrick Rose, says star
Bulls would have won '3 or 4' titles with healthy Derrick Rose, says star originally appeared on The Sporting News A former Chicago Bulls standout is convinced his old team could have won multiple championships had MVP point guard Derrick Rose avoid his the ACL and meniscus tears that permanently altered his health trajectory. MORE NEWS:Insider roasts Bulls after NBA national broadcast schedule drop During an interview with Matt Peck of the "CHGO Bulls" podcast, former two-time All-Star power forward Carlos Boozer asserted that his talented Chicago teams could have gone all the way. "You can't replace a Derrick Rose, man. Let's be honest," Boozer said. "This guy was one in a million, one in a lifetime, to be honest. If he doesn't get hurt, he retires with three or four championships and obviously first ballot Hall of Famer. That's how much influence he had on the game of basketball and that also speaks to his talent level." Boozer was something of a consolation prize free agent signing for the Bulls in 2010, when LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, and likely Joe Johnson all signed elsewhere. A prolific post scorer in his day (he didn't have much of a jumper beyond the arc, but in his era that wasn't a dealbreaker yet), Boozer was a consistent double-double machine — although he never matched his All-Star prime with the Utah Jazz while in town. Chicago ultimately amnestied him in the summer of 2014. Across his four seasons with the Bulls, Boozer averaged 15.5 points on 49.1 percent shooting from the floor and 72.4 percent shooting from the foul line, 9.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 0.8 steals a night. "Think about his career, right?" Boozer added. "He's from Chicago, No. 1 pick in the NBA draft. Rookie of the Year that year. Second year, becomes an All-Star. Third year, becomes the MVP... His trajectory was off the charts." MORE NEWS:Bulls' $36 million guard predicted to be among biggest names dealt at 2026 trade deadline

Caitlin Clark Makes Bold WNBA MVP Declaration After Fever-Sun
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Before the 2025 WNBA season even began, Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark was one of the betting favorites to win the award. The reigning Rookie of the Year got off to a hot start too, averaging 19 points, 9.3 assists, and 6.0 rebounds through her first four games before missing some time with a quadriceps injury. She picked up right where she left off after returning in mid-June with a 32-point outburst against the New York Liberty followed by a 20-point outing against the Connecticut Sun the following game, but injuries have limited Clark to just seven more appearances in Indiana's 23 games since, all but dashing the 23-year-old Iowa alum's chances of taking home the top honor in the league. But in Clark's absence, one of her teammates has not only filled her scoring void in Indiana's lineup but also seemingly taken her place in the MVP race. Mitchell finished with a game- and career-high 38 points along with six assists, two steals, and a rebound in the Fever's 99-93 overtime win, marking the biggest come-from-behind win in franchise history. Among those celebrating Mitchell's monster performance was Clark, who took to social media to make it known Mitchell has her vote for MVP. "MVP kels," Clark wrote on X. "KELSEY FREAKIN MITCHELL," Sophie Cunningham wrote on X. "Kelsey Mitchell isn't real," Sydney Colson also chimed in. Sunday was Mitchell's fourth 30-point game of the season, and it marked the 20th time in 35 games this season she scored 20 or more points. The Fever lost Cunningham to a knee injury in the second quarter, and the rest of the team struggled to mount any offense against the Sun for the first two-and-a-half quarters. In fact, Mitchell scored just four points by halftime. More WNBA: Angel Reese Sends Cryptic 3-Word Message Before Sky vs Sun

Sixers' Jared McCain ranks 4th in 6th Man of the Year betting odds
With the 2025-26 season quickly approaching, now is the time to look ahead to the new season. The Philadelphia 76ers will certainly be looking to put a miserable 24-58 season behind them after injuries decimated the roster and ruined any chance they had at contending for a title. As the Sixers now look ahead to the new season, the focus remains on the trio of Joel Embiid, Paul George, and Tyrese Maxey. However, the front office did add some younger, versatile pieces to help push them in the right direction and through the grind of an 82-game season. A young piece the Sixers will certainly rely on will be second-year guard Jared McCain. He was on his way to winning Rookie of the Year in 2025 before a meniscus tear cut his season short after just 23 games. FanDuel believes McCain will have a big second season as they have him tied for the fourth-best betting odds of winning the 6th Man of the Year award in 2026 at +1200. One has to believe McCain will be starting a good amount due to his shooting ability, but when considering the fact that the Sixers are likely to bring back Quentin Grimes, there is also a good chance he will come off the bench more often than not. Therefore, he has a chance of winning the coveted 6th Man award.
