President Trump is a fan of Commanders QB Jayden Daniels
President Trump is a fan of Commanders QB Jayden Daniels President Donald Trump is a Jayden Daniels fan. President Trump to Commanders team owner Josh Harris, 'you have a very good quarterback. Great quarterback I think.' Wow. — Scott Abraham (@Scott7news) May 5, 2025 It's been a big week for the Washington Commanders and the city of Washington, D.C. Last week, Commanders owner Josh Harris and D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser announced an agreement to bring the NFL franchise back to D.C. with a new stadium. The new stadium would also bring much more to the District, including housing, retail, numerous events at the stadium and plenty of jobs. On Monday, President Donald Trump revealed more big news for Washington, D.C. The 2027 NFL draft is coming to the nation's capital and will be held at National Mall. After the announcement, President Trump spoke directly to Harris: "I have to say Josh had a very good draft, a short while ago," Trump said before turning his attention to the Commanders quarterback. "You have a very good quarterback, a great quarterback, I think." Harris responded with a smile, "We do." Daniels took the NFL by storm last season, winning Rookie of the Week honors a record 11 times, winning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, and, most impressively, led Washington to its best season in 33 years.

Blake Harper has his HBCU and power programs on list
Blake Harper still has his HBCU in his orbit - along with a pair of Power Four schools. The former Howard University standout, has reportedly narrowed his list of potential destinations to four: Creighton, LSU, Ohio State, and a possible return to his HBCU - Howard University. The news, confirmed by Klutch Sports, signals a major move for the freshman phenom who took college basketball by storm in 2024-25. Harper's transfer decision comes just weeks after he officially signed with Klutch Sports for NIL representation. The agency, known for representing stars like LeBron James and Anthony Davis, brings Harper into a high-powered network of opportunity. His quick alignment with Klutch-within hours of entering the transfer portal-sent a strong signal about the rising trajectory of his career and the serious interest he's receiving from high-major programs. The 6-foot-7 guard became the first player in MEAC history to win both Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year honors in the same season. Harper averaged 19.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game, while earning MEAC Rookie of the Week 18 consecutive times. His dynamic playmaking made him a beacon of HBCU basketball excellence and a regular feature on national highlight reels. Many HBCU fans had hoped Harper would return for a sophomore run, but his meteoric rise and growing national attention made that outcome seeming unlikely. While his entrance into the portal doesn't officially rule out a Howard return, it is widely expected that he has played his final game in an HBCU uniform as schools like LSU and Ohio State have significant resource advantages. And while Harper has made it clear previously that money will not be THE deciding factor, it is still likely come into play. Still, Blake Harper's historic year at Howard shines as a testament to the talent that exists at HBCUs-and the power of platforms like Klutch Sports to elevate those athletes onto higher-paying programs. Cooper Flagg breaks ACC record with 11th Rookie of the Week nomination
Cooper Flagg breaks ACC record with 11th Rookie of the Week nomination Duke basketball superstar Cooper Flagg has been a mainstay on the ACC's weekly award releases this season, and he was named the conference's Co-Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week on Monday for his efforts against Virginia and Illinois. The latter nomination, Flagg's 11th ACC Rookie of the Week award in 2024-25, broke a conference record for the most times winning that honor in a single season. The old record of 10 stood since 1990 with Georgia Tech's Kenny Anderson, North Carolina Tar Heels star Tyler Hansbrough, and Duke's own Jabari Parker all tied at that mark. Flagg put together a double-double in the first half against the Cavaliers, finishing with 17 points, 14 rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and two steals. He only played 23 minutes during Saturday's blowout of the Illini but still produced 16 points, seven rebounds, and five assists in that span, and he shot 13/26 (50%) from the field for the week. The 18-year-old forward has been named the Player of the Week or Co-Player of the Week five different times now, two more than any other player in the ACC. He shared the honor with Boston College's Donald Hand Jr., the second time in four weeks that those two split the top conference billing. Flagg, who has only missed out on Rookie of the Week honors five times this season, will have two more chances to add to his new ACC record.
