UNC wide receiver speaks on staying in Chapel Hill with Bill Belichick arrival Will Jordan Shipp become one of Bill Belichick's top offensive producers this fall?
The transfer portal dictates how college football rosters are shaped today, with UNC being a prime example heading into its 2025 season.
North Carolina replaced its entire starting defensive line through the portal, headlined by names like Pryce Yates and CJ Mims. The Tar Heels also snagged several offensive linemen in the portal, likely starting quarterback Gio Lopez, a pair of star linebackers and top-ranked cornerback Thaddeus Dixon.
Add in coaching changes – and roster loyalty dwindles even further. UNC hired 8-time Super Bowl champion Bill Belichick to be its head coach in December, hoping to bring a consistent winning culture to Chapel Hill. Expected 2025 starters for North Carolina transferred out of Chapel Hill, but several guys stayed.
One key player who decided to stay a Tar Heels is sophomore wide receiver Jordan Shipp, who caught nine passes for 114 yards and a touchdown in 2024. Shipp recently spoke on his decision to stay.
"It's hard to transfer from a school that you love so much," Shipp told the media. "I've had a lot of friends that came here, a lot of friends that have been successful here – and it's also hard to leave the greatest coach of all time. Knowing you have one of the greatest coaches of all time coming here, it wouldn't have been smart for me to leave.'
With no J.J. Jones or Nate McCollum, expect to see Shipp earn starting minutes in 2025. Joining Shipp in the wideout room are Michigan State transfer Aziah Johnson, Colorado transfer Adrian Wilson and Washington transfer Jason Robinson Jr., while the likes of Javarius Green, Chris Culliver and Paul Billups are 2024 holdovers.

4 best Jalen Ramsey trade landing spots as he awaits a ‘new chapter'
The Miami Dolphins have been trying to reach a resolution with Jalen Ramsey all offseason. Yet, they could be waiting until after June 1 at this point, because that's when the Dolphins can save $9.9 million by trading him. On Wednesday, Ramsey hinted at a potential trade coming soon, ending an interesting tweet with the caption, 'A new chapter awaits.' Recently, Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer speculated on teams giving up anywhere between a second and a fifth-round pick in exchange for Ramsey, depending on how much salary his next team is willing to pay. Advertisement But which teams are actually in a position to trade for the three-time All-Pro cornerback? Let's look at a few options. If he's not willing to play on a reduced salary in 2025, those discussions could very well lead to a trade. If so, the Packers will want another high-level playmaker to lead their secondary and Ramsey is their best option. Rebilas-Imagn Images Odds are, Ramsey will want to play for another Super Bowl contender, and there are few other guaranteed playoff teams than the Kansas City Chiefs. Plus, the Chiefs are still looking for another defensive playmaker after moving on from L'Jarius Sneed. Minnesota Vikings Credit: Kirby Lee-Imagn Images Not only are the Minnesota Vikings still looking to replace their top three cornerbacks from their top-five defense from a year ago, they have a natural connection with Kevin O'Connell to Ramsey from their Super Bowl season together. Coach O'Connell has all the information he needs to push GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah to swing a deal for the superstar defender. Pittsburgh Steelers' Aaron Rodgers contract is full of farfetched incentives
After months of hoping they'd ultimately end up with Aaron Rodgers before mandatory practices began, the Pittsburgh Steelers signed their new franchise quarterback just in time for this week's minicamp. The Steelers signed the future Hall of Famer to a one-year contract worth up to $19.5 million. Yet, the actual value of that deal appears to be worth much less. In fact, there's a very slim chance Rodgers ever sees the full value of the contract, largely because a large portion of his salary is tied to unlikely incentives. Advertisement The base value of Rodgers' salary comes out to $13.65 million. However, there is another $5.85 million Rodgers can earn via incentives. Though, to unlock any of them, he'll have to participate in at least 70% of the Steelers' snaps. Here are the incentives Rodgers must reach to earn the full $19.5 million salary. $500K – Steelers reach the playoffs $600K – Steelers earn first-round playoff bye $750K – Steelers win Divisional Round $1 million – Steelers win AFC Championship $1.5 million – Steelers win Super Bowl $1.5 million – Rodgers wins NFL MVP It's not uncommon for players to sign contracts with several hard-to-reach incentives. They simply provide players with another avenue to earn more money, based on either the performance of the athlete or their team's success. Can Rodgers unlock his full contract? Chances are he wouldn't have signed with the Steelers if he didn't fully believe in his abilities.
