Bournemouth in advanced talks to sign Bayer Leverkusen's Amine Adli
The 25-year-old, who can operate across the forward line, was a key part of the Leverkusen team that won the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal in 2023-24, also reaching the Europa League final.
That campaign was his most productive to date, delivering 10 goals in 42 appearances in all competitions.
Adli has scored 23 goals and provided 24 assists in 142 matches for Leverkusen since joining from Toulouse in 2021. He represented France at youth level before switching allegiance to Morocco, earning 15 senior caps so far.
Last season was disrupted by a broken leg that kept him out for three months, limiting him to six Bundesliga starts. However, his performances when fit have kept him in demand, with Bournemouth now hoping to bring him to the Premier League.
The proposed move could trigger a chain of transfers involving Brentford and Newcastle United. Bournemouth forward Dango Ouattara has been the subject of talks with Brentford, who are seeking attacking reinforcements.
The Bees view Ouattara as their preferred replacement for Yoane Wissa, who is wanted by Newcastle.
Newcastle are pursuing Wissa after missing out on Liam Delap and Joao Pedro. The 28-year-old had a 'gentleman's agreement' to leave Brentford this summer, having stayed on last season when Ivan Toney departed.
However, the sale of Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United initially saw Brentford block his exit, prompting Wissa to refuse to train.
The Magpies are confident of sealing a deal worth about £35 million for Wissa, but Brentford will only sanction the move once they have a replacement in place. That replacement is expected to be Ouattara — provided Bournemouth secure Adli.
Ouattara, primarily a left winger but also capable on the right or through the middle, joined Bournemouth in January 2023 from Lorient.
He scored three goals in his debut Premier League campaign and has continued to attract interest for his pace and direct style.
Bournemouth have already strengthened this summer with the arrivals of goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic from Chelsea, left-back Adrien Truffert from Rennes, centre-back Bafode Diakite from Lille and forward Eli Junior Kroupi from Lorient.
Adding Adli would give manager Andoni Iraola another versatile attacking option as the club aim to push further up the table next season.
With negotiations at an advanced stage, the Cherries' pursuit of Adli could set off a domino effect that reshapes the attacking line-ups at Bournemouth, Brentford and Newcastle in the coming weeks.

Chiefs vs. Seahawks: QB Gardner Minshew finds veteran TE Robert Tonyan for TD in Seattle
The Kansas City Chiefs are in the midst of a tight game against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2 of the 2025 NFL preseason. After a slow start that saw the Chiefs down 14-0 in the first quarter of Friday's tilt, Kansas City's offense began to claw its way back as the game approached halftime. Trailing with only ten minutes left in the half, quarterback Gardner Minshew manufactured a near-perfect drive that ended in a touchdown pass to veteran tight end Robert Tonyan in the red zone. Take a look at the connection, which was posted to Twitter by the Chiefs' official account: Despite a close game, Kansas City's defense has staggered against a much-improved Seattle team and will need to rely on its experience to stop quarterback Sam Darnold and company. Stay tuned to see if the reigning AFC champions can recover from last week's loss and head back to western Missouri with a win. Sam Darnold plays one series, completes all four passes
Sam Darnold got his feet wet, playing 10 plays on one possession in the Seahawks' second preseason game. The quarterback, who signed with the Seahawks in the offseason, did not throw the ball down the field with air yards of minus-5, minus-1, 1 and 4 yards on his four attempts. But he was perfect. Darnold went 4-for-4 for 34 yards, connecting with four different receivers. Fullback Robbie Ouzis caught one for 13 yards, tight end Elijah Arroyo one for 9, wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba one for 7 and tight end AJ Barner one for 5. Zach Charbonnet ran for 45 yards, including a 15-yard touchdown, on five carries on the 81-yard drive that gave the Seahawks a 7-0 lead over the Chiefs. The Seahawks faced only one third down and sent rookie quarterback Jalen Milroe out for the quarterback sneak with Darnold lined up at running back. Milroe gained 2 yards. Drew Lock replaced Darnold on the second possession. Darnold did not play in the preseason opener.

Brooks scores on interception return as Ward has mixed results in Titans' 23-20 win over Falcons
ATLANTA (AP) — Kendell Brooks scored on a 53-yard interception return and rookie quarterback Cameron Ward had mixed results as the Tennessee Titans beat the Atlanta Falcons 23-20 in a preseason game Friday night. Joey Slye's 23-yard field goal with 9:03 remaining gave Tennessee (1-1) the lead. Falcons backup quarterback Emory Jones was stopped on a fourth-down run near the Tennessee 20 with 2:57 remaining. Jones was shaken up on the hit by linebacker Amari Burney and cornerback Jemari Harris. Jones walked off the field with assistance. Ward played three series and completed 2 of 7 passes for 42 yards. Ward's highlight was a 35-yard completion to Elic Ayomanor on the Titans' opening series. Ward, the No. 1 overall pick in this year's NFL draft, had another long pass dropped by Van Jefferson. The teams traded third-quarter touchdowns. Jemar Jefferson's 16-yard scoring run, which capped a 13-play drive, gave the Titans a 20-13 lead. Easton Stick, who played the first three quarters for Atlanta, threw a 52-yard scoring pass to Chris Blair to tie the game. Brandon Allen, who played behind Ward, threw a 25-yard scoring pass to tight end Gunnar Helm late in the first half. Nathan Carter produced the Falcons' first touchdown with a 43-yard run in the third quarter. Younghoe Koo kicked field goals of 42 and 36 yards for Atlanta (0-2). Just watching Among the Titans held out on offense were RB Tony Pollard, WRs Calvin Ridley and Tyler Lockett, RG Kevin Zeitler. Center Lloyd Cushenberry, who passed his physical Monday as he continues his return from an Achilles tendon injury, participated in pregame drills but did not play. Atlanta's top two quarterbacks, starter Michael Penix Jr. and backup Kirk Cousins, sat out for the second straight preseason game after receiving the bulk of the snaps in team drills in two joint practices against the Titans this week. RB Bijan Robinson and WRs Drake London and Ray-Ray McCloud also were spectators. Falcons rookie edge rusher Jalon Walker was held out after playing last week in a 17-10 loss to Detroit. Long road home The game completed a string of nine nights away from home for the Titans, who had a joint practice at Tampa Bay last week before their 29-7 loss to the Buccaneers. Backup QB shuffle Trevor Siemian, who was signed Monday, took over at quarterback for Tennessee in the fourth quarter and led the drive capped by Slye's go-ahead field goal. Siemian spent much of 2024 on the Titans' practice squad. He replaced Tim Boyle, who was released after completing only 4 of 13 passes for 24 yards with two interceptions against the Buccaneers. Stick, competing for Atlanta's No. 3 quarterback job, completed 15 of 25 passes for 145 yards with one touchdown and the one interception returned for a touchdown by Brooks. Allen completed 11 of 14 passes for 119 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Up next Titans: Following two road games, the Titans host Minnesota next Friday night.
