The rock craze in Malaysia continues as Deep Purple Live in Malaysia makes its way to Kuala Lumpur for the band's only South-East Asian stop, marking their long-awaited return after 15 years.
Set to take over Mega Star Arena KL this November 23, the concert is organised by Hitman Solutions, bringing the legendary UK rock sound back to Malaysian shores.
Dubbed pioneers of the genre and the founding fathers of rock, Deep Purple has been creating music and commanding global stages since 1968.
With 23 studio albums and over 100 million records sold worldwide, their decades-spanning career has earned them a place in music history.
Their accolades include induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Legend Award at the World Music Awards, and a spot in Rolling Stone's 2012 list of the Best Live Albums of All Time for 'Made in Japan', among many others.
With artists like Metallica, Aerosmith, and Van Halen citing Deep Purple as a key influence, their impact on the evolution of rock is undeniable.
Their legacy not only spans generations but has firmly established them as Rock Royalty, with the records and reputation to prove it.
To bring this momentous occasion to life for Malaysian fans, Hitman Solutions has taken the helm as the official organiser of this historic event, aiming to offer local and regional fans a rare opportunity to celebrate a band that has shaped the soundtrack of their lives.
In a media statement, Rohit Rampal, CEO & Founder of Hitman Group, expressed, 'There's a clear resurgence of rock concerts in Malaysia, and we're committed to fuelling that momentum by bringing in the genre's true pioneers. Deep Purple's legacy is unmatched, and it's an honour to welcome them back to Kuala Lumpur finally.'
'Their last show here was in 2010. The wait has been long, and we knew it was time to answer the call for fans across Malaysia and the region. With Kuala Lumpur being their only South-East Asian stop, this show is going to be something truly special.
"But it's not just about reliving nostalgia. We also want to introduce Deep Purple's electrifying stage presence to younger audiences who may have never had the chance to experience it live. From 'Smoke on the Water' to 'Highway Star', this concert is going to be a masterclass in rock. We can't wait to rock out together this November."

Preparations in full swing for Borneo Flora Festival 2025

Landscaping workers and volunteers actively preparing the program site of the Borneo Flora Festival (BFF) @ Labuan 2025 today. The event will be held on July 26 to 30. – Bernama photo LABUAN (July 18): Preparations for the Borneo Flora Festival 2025 are well underway, with thousands of flowering plants being placed across the island, in stages, to create a vibrant and festive atmosphere ahead of the grand event. A wide variety of vibrant plants is being meticulously arranged at strategic locations, including the main venue at the Labuan International Sea Sports Complex, the Financial Park Complex, major roundabouts, public parks, and key gateways, such as Labuan Airport and ferry terminals. Labuan Corporation chief executive officer, Mohd Sukuran Taib, said that the initiative aims to transform Labuan into a 'living garden', reflecting this year's festival theme of celebrating biodiversity, conservation and community creativity. The Borneo Flora Festival 2025, organised by Putrajaya Corporation in collaboration with Labuan Corporation, the Federal Territories Department, and Kuala Lumpur City Hall, will officially kick off on July 26. Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, is scheduled to grace the opening ceremony at the Labuan International Sea Sports Complex. This year's festival will feature more than 29 themed gardens, showcasing exotic and endangered flora native to Borneo, alongside contemporary landscape designs presented by local councils, private sector players, and community groups. 'The five-day event will include plant exhibitions, soft and hard landscape gardens, eco-talks, art installations, live performances by Malaysian artists, and family-friendly activities designed to raise environmental awareness and promote sustainable living,' Mohd Sukuran said. He added that the polybag planting strategy was adopted not only to enhance aesthetics, but also to allow for flexible, controlled growth and easier relocation, as the final designs take shape. 'Each phase of planting has been meticulously planned to ensure that the flowers are in full bloom when the festival begins. The strategic placement of 250,000 flowering plants across the island is part of our broader effort to infuse Labuan with the vibrant spirit of the festival,' he said. He said that the massive undertaking involves close coordination between municipal landscape teams, horticulturists, and local volunteers. The Borneo Flora Festival is expected to draw thousands of visitors, both domestic and international, including tourists from neighbouring Kalimantan and Brunei, boosted by an aggressive promotional campaign and improved ferry connectivity to Kota Kinabalu and beyond. With hotel rooms, homestays, and serviced apartments still available, organisers are encouraging visitors to plan ahead and experience what promises to be Labuan's most colourful and eco-conscious celebration yet. – Bernama
