Coronation Street favourite found dead in tragic twist and fans are 'furious'

Coronation Street fans are in for some heartbreaking scenes next week, as one fan favourite will be saying her final goodbyes to the cobbles. Julie Carp (Katy Cavanagh) returned to the soap earlier this year ahead of Eileen's (Sue Cleaver) exit from the cobbles.
However it was later revealed that she was terminally ill with cancer, and only had months to live. Sadly, Julie will be saying her final goodbyes next week, and in devastating scenes she will be seen recording devastating videos of herself on her phone for her loved ones to see when she is gone.
In heartbreaking scenes, Julie and Eileen take in the breath-taking views at the lake - as Julie admits there's no place she'd rather be. Prior to this, Eileen is left furious with George as he plans a romantic evening for the two forgetting he was supposed to be taking her and Julie for a day out at the lake.
Eileen takes a cab to the lake, and meanwhile at No.11, George stumbles across a video where Julie advises Eileen to call time on her relationship with him. Back at the lake, as per Julie's request, Eileen heads to the refreshment van. She then returns to find her sister lying on her back as Eileen checks for a pulse in a panic.
As an upset Eileen mulls over Julie's death, George worries about Julie's final message to Eileen and the future of their relationship which only annoys Eileen further, Mirror UK reports.
Fans have been left furious with the reveal, as one took to X, previously known as Twitter to write: "Corrie is going to far with all these depressing storylines. Relationships breaking up. Need some fun and happy storylines to balance them out."
Another commented: "AND NO ONE ASKED FOR YOU TO KILL JULIE OFF EITHER!!!"
Speaking on her return to the soap earlier this year, Katy said: "It was really lovely to get the call. It is something I haven't thought about for many years. And I'm very fond of Julie, so it was a good feeling.
"It also felt good to be asked to be part of Eileen's departure story it is perfect to come and have some closure on Julie and Eileen, to kind of revisit her. And, you know, there was such a lovely vibe between Julie and Eileen," she continued.
"Sue and I go back to my very first job on The Cops so it is a full circle moment. It also attracted me as it was for a short set period of time and I could fit it in with the other things going on in my life."
Julie first left Weatherfield in 2015 after her relationship with Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) broke down.
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on Virgin Media Ireland.

Deal or No Deal chaos as horrified Irish star watches €118k vanish in minutes

A Deal or No Deal contestant has been dealt a huge blow, losing the £100K (€118k) jackpot just minutes into the ITV show. Saturday Night's Soccer Aid episode saw The Last Leg co-host Alex Brooker facing off the Banker, supported by a star-studded panel. In a bid to win up to £100,000 (€118,000) for UNICEF, Alex gunned for the cash prize assisted by celebrities, including Irish actor Emmett J Scanlan and former England player Jill Scott. However, the TV presenter was left devastated when he selected his brother Tom's box, hoping to strike blue. Initially optimistic about his choice, Alex told host Stephen Mulhern: "I think my brother Tom, number eight, has got 50p (59 cent) in there [the box]." Tom was equally confident, agreeing with his sibling that the box likely contained a blue value. But the duo suffered a major blow when Tom opened his box to find £100,000 (€118,000) inside, Mirror UK reports. The Soccer Aid team was visibly upset, and they were not alone. Viewers have taken to X, formerly Twitter, to echo their frustration at the huge loss. One penned: "Oh no! The £100K is gone," while a second voiced out: "£100K gone. I'm furious and raging." Other ITV fans were quick to question the star's process. "Why hasn't he got a system? Lucky numbers & bad numbers. Looks like he's just choosing randomly with no strategy," quipped one. Despite his early disappointment, Alex later accepted the Banker's offer of £13,780 (€16,350). His team was happy with the final deal, with viewers agreeing that Alex "made the right choice." Taking to X, one person praised the final deal, stating: "That's a lot of money for charity." Meanwhile, a second fan said: "Well done, Alex. A tremendous amount of vital funds in the bank." Started by Robbie Williams in 2006, Soccer Aid for UNICEF is a celebrity football fundraising event. Its profits go towards UNICEF's global mission to protect children's rights to play. This year's game kicks off next Sunday (15th June), with Brooker on the line-up alongside Sir Mo Farah, TV star Bear Grylls, singer Tom Grennan and social media sensation Morgan Burtwistle.

Stephen Graham has emergency surgery on plane after terrifying mystery bleeding

Stephen Graham has opened up about the "scary" emergency operation he underwent while on a plane. Appearing on Late Night with Seth Meyers, the Adolescence actor spoke of a medical emergency that took place the last time he touched down in the States. After the host asked about his previous traumatic flight, Stephen responded by saying it was "a hell of an experience". He elaborated: "Look, I'm of a certain age, you know what I mean? You're a gentleman, like myself. I don't know; once you get over like 45, you tend to go to the toilet quite a lot of times." His storytelling made the crowd laugh and had viewers wondering where this story was going exactly, Mirror UK reports. Graham went on to explain how many people opt to have a catheter fitted, which is something he himself had opted for. Ultimately, it was supposed to aid him in his bathroom habits, and he explained that after "three to four months", you should be experiencing "fewer trips to the toilet". Although the Netflix star found himself in a bit of an unusual situation on a flight 10,000 feet in the air when everything had been fine, right up until that point. He tells the late-night host about drinking water on the flight as usual, going to the toilet and suddenly not being able to pee. "I'm like, Oh, this doesn't feel right," he told Myers. "I knew I had to, and then silly Stephen thought, 'Oh, well, if I go back to my seat and I just keep drinking water, at some point it will happen.'" After going back to his seat and some time passing, he went back to the toilet and was shocked by what happened next. Graham said: "Long story short, all of a sudden I went, but it was just pure blood," adding that it was "very scary". He further explained that he couldn't stop the sheer amount of blood and began to have a "slight panic attack". He admitted that the entire situation had made him quite emotional, but luck was on his side, as he remembers taking a selfie with a fan before the flight, who just happened to be a doctor. "He had another friend with him, who was a surgeon," the actor explained. "So I'm there, and I explain. He's like, 'Ok,' and the surgeon, Dr Haji, says, 'We can work this out.'" The entire area he was in was sterilised, and a catheter was pulled out of an emergency box. To put it bluntly, Graham said: "I drop my kecks, I get on the couch, and he performs a catheter operation there and then." And, once it was over and done with, the adolescence star took a selfie with the doctors and crew on board to remember the moment. 'I found David Beckham's wallet, his reply surprised me when I asked for reward'

Basketball icon Shaquille O'Neal once stumbled upon David Beckham's wallet lying on the ground - and joked about charging a massive sum for its return. The two have been friends for years, having met during Beckham's time with the LA Galaxy in Los Angeles, California. Shaq, who previously played for the LA Lakers, recalled that he initially thought about keeping the cash he found, but changed his mind once he realised who the wallet belonged to. "I was walking one day in Beverly Hills and I found a wallet," the 53-year-old recalled during an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden. "Usually when I find wallets, I just take all the money out and I just throw them," he joked. "But this was a nice wallet." After noticing Beckham's ID inside, he chose to pull a light-hearted stunt on the football legend by posing as someone who wanted a reward. "First I played a joke," the American said. "I was like, 'I have your wallet, it's going to cost you a million dollars to get it back'. But he knew it was me. [Beckham said] 'Shaq, stop playing'. I was like 'Dave, I found your wallet'. The funny thing is he [Beckham] said, 'There was some money in this wallet, you know what happened?' And I was like, 'Nope.'" Shaq, who ended his basketball career in 2012, is recognised as one of the sport's greatest figures, Mirror UK reports. Towering at 7ft 1in, he secured four NBA titles - three with the Lakers during the Kobe Bryant era and one with the Miami Heat. In 2000, he was honoured as NBA MVP and earned 15 All-Star appearances over a distinguished career that also included stints with the Orlando Magic, the Phoenix Suns, the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics. Beckham wrapped up his professional football career a year after O'Neal in 2013, after playing for elite clubs like Manchester United, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC Milan, and PSG. He also represented England 115 times and wore the captain's armband for six years. Though now based in the UK with his wife Victoria, Beckham still travels frequently across the Atlantic. He is a part-owner of MLS franchise Inter Miami, who made headlines in 2023 by signing Lionel Messi.
