Health Minister inaugurates Pay Ward at Pudukottai Govt Medical College Hospital
Health Minister Ma. Subramanian on Tuesday opened a Pay Ward constructed at the Pudukottai Government Medical College Hospital and inaugurated 20 medical buildings besides unveiling the foundation for 11 new medical buildings in the district.
The Pay Ward with modern facilities has been established at a cost of ₹67.2 lakh. The new medical buildings that were inaugurated have been constructed at a cost of ₹6.95 crore, while ₹9.98 crore is to be spent for the construction of 11 others.
Speaking to journalists at Pudukottai, the Health Minister said Pay Wards were being opened in Government Medical College Hospitals and Government Hospitals in various districts.
The Pay Wards comprises various facilities with separate rooms which could also be utilised by middle and higher income groups to avail themselves of medical services. He said the State government had issued an order last week to establish a sewage treatment plant at a cost of ₹3.6 crore in the Pudukottai Government Medical College Hospital campus.
The Minister participated in the third graduation reception ceremony held at the Pudukottai Government Medical College Hospital premises and distributed medals and certificates to 141 students. The Minister for Natural Resources S. Regupathy, Minister for Backward Classes Welfare Siva V. Meyyanathan, Pudukottai Collector M. Aruna and health department officials participated in the events.
The Health Minister later unveiled the foundation of a critical care block at the Karur Government Medical College Hospital. The 50-bed critical care block is to be established at a cost of Rs. 23.75 crore.

Unlicensed medical shop raided in Hyderabad; drugs worth Rs 25,000 seized
Hyderabad, June 11 (UNI) Officials of the Drugs Control Administration (DCA), Telangana, raided an unlicensed medical shop operating at Zamistanpur, Musheerabad, Hyderabad, and seized a large quantity of medicines stocked illegally for sale. Acting on credible information, DCA officials conducted a raid on Tuesday at New Al-Shifa Medical and General Stores, located near Bandham Function Hall. The shop, operated by Mohd Saddam Hussain, was found to be functioning without a valid drug license, in violation of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. During the raid, officers found unauthorised stocks of 35 different types of medicines, including antibiotics, abortion kits, and habit-forming drugs such as Alprazolam and Tramadol tablets, along with IV fluids. The seized stock was valued at approximately Rs 25,000. The raid was carried out by a team comprising D Saritha, Assistant Director (Secunderabad), along with Drugs Inspectors P Renuka (Musheerabad), B Govind Singh (Secunderabad), G Anil (Malakpet), and M. Surendranath (Begumpet). Samples of the seized medicines were taken for analysis, and further investigation is underway. DCA officials have cautioned that wholesalers and dealers who supply medicines to unlicensed outlets will also face strict action. 1k fine for smoking in public, hookah bars banned in state
1 2 Ranchi: Smoking, consuming or spitting tobacco in public will now be punishable worth Rs 1,000 courtesy a new law to which President Droupadi Murmu gave her assent on Wednesday. The Raj Bhavan, in a statement, said Murmu had given her assent to the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply, and Distribution) (Jharkhand Amendment) Bill of 2021'. The bill was passed by the state assembly in 2021. Aimed at putting tighter curbs in place for sale and usage of tobacco items in the state, the new law will come into effect soon after the state govt notifies it in an official gazette, officials said. Following the amendment, a fine of Rs 1,000 will be imposed for smoking or consuming tobacco or spitting. Earlier, the fine was Rs 200. Besides the penalty, provision for jail term is also included. The amendment also covers hookah bars banning its operation. Hemant Soren govt had introduced and passed the amendment bill in 2021 following a thorough debate in the state assembly. Then Gomia MLA from Ajsu party, Lambodar Mahto, had demanded a fine of Rs 10,000 for offenders during the debate over the bill, which was turned down by the state govt. Ranchi civil surgeon Dr Prabhat Kumar said the district health department will begin enforcing new law after receiving directives from state. "Even though the administration and health department has taken steps under COPTA rules, we will begin imposing fresh penalties on violators after formal directives from govt," Kumar said.

Renal care firm Renalyx to invest Rs 800 crore in Karnataka manufacturing plants
MUMBAI: Bengaluru-based Renalyx Health Systems, which is into renal care, has launched what it claims to be the world's first fully indigenous, AI and cloud-enabled smart hemodialysis machine with real-time remote monitoring and clinical connectivity facility. The company also claimed that they are the sixth in the world and the first company in the country to produce an advanced dialysis machine with EU CE certification. The company has also announced Rs 800 crore of investments in its Bengaluru manufacturing facility over the next four years. Called the Renalyx RxT 21, the machine comes for Rs 6.70 lakh, which is significantly lower than the price of imported machines, thus helping make dialysis affordable and accessible to a larger population and bridge the demand-supply gap in the renal care across semi-urban and rural regions.
