The shopfronts are part of its Walmart Realm initiative aimed at capturing the attention of Generation Z and Alpha youngsters.
Virtual Reality
It was launched in 2024 to produce virtual reality-inspired environments, influencer curation and gamified experiences to make the experience of shopping online more interactive.
'Walmart Realm connected millions of younger shoppers with creator-curated products, interactive mini-games, and trend-driven storytelling through this emerging medium,' said Justin Breton, head of brand partnerships and emerging experiences at Walmart.
He added that the immersive storefronts included the 'vibrant K-POP Era, followed by Lo-Fi Playing, Rodeo Dreams, Nature Breaks, and Group Woosah.'
To some people these might sound like a selection of Country and Western albums from the 1980s, but not it is hoped for those under the age of 30.
The names are associated with different themes of online stores, with K-POP Era, for example, focused on K-Pop fans with features including exclusive merchandise, interactive mini-games, and products curated by creators related to K-pop aesthetics.
Walmart Delivers
The move supports Walmart Delivers, the mobile pop-up stores, which include photo booths, customizable giveaways, and interactive zones. As an example of this, on 2 September, the Walmart Delivers K-POP pop-up will be at the BABYMONSTER concert in Chicago.
It also comes as Walmart announced in its Q1 results that it had achieved profitability in its eCommerce business on both a U.S. and global enterprise basis.
Generation Z is quite the target for Walmart given that it commands more than $360 billion in spending power in the U.S. alone. According to Walmart's data, 47% of Gen Z are engaging in immersive digital experiences, with 70% of younger consumers preferring fun shopping experiences.
This fits into one of Walmart's key risks, which is the ability to sell its products to customers, including those from a range of backgrounds and ages.
'We are transforming us into a go-to destination for premium, trend-driven products that meet customers where they are,' Breton continued. 'And no matter what they're into… We get it, we have it, and we can deliver it. Who knew?'
Is WMT a Good Stock to Buy Now?
On TipRanks, WMT has a Strong Buy consensus based on 29 Buy ratings. Its highest price target is $130. WMT stock's consensus price target is $112.15, implying a 7.7% upside.

Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Pair Returns to All-Time Low at Walmart, Already Flying Off Shelves in This Rare Deal

Controllers have a way of disappearing right when friends come over. The Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Pair, Neon Purple and Neon Orange solves the 'who gets the good controller' debate with a bright duo that is easy to spot and even easier to share. Slide them onto a Switch for a quick handheld session, pop them off for tabletop play, or hand one to a buddy so a quiet night turns into Mario Kart laps and a lot of yelling from the couch. Head over to Walmart to get the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Pair, Neon Purple and Neon Orange for just $69, down from its usual price of $80. That's a discount of $11 and 13% off. See at Walmart Color is half the fun here. The neon purple and neon orange shells bring instant personality to a gray dock and make it obvious which controller is yours. They feel light in the hand, click into place with that satisfying Switch sound, and pair in a blink. Use them together for the full two handed setup, or flip them sideways and you have two mini controllers ready for party games. Wrist straps in the box add a little extra grip for frantic races and dance rounds. These are great as a replacement set or as a spare pair that lives in the charging dock. If you are down to a single working controller, this restores the living room to multiplayer status. Families with sibling turf wars will also appreciate the peace. One purple, one orange, and the arguments tend to fade. Built in motion controls make games like Just Dance and 1 2 Switch easy to jump into, and the gentle rumble adds a little energy to wins and near misses. Small quality of life touches add up. The compact size fits little hands and tired grown up hands alike. Battery life is long enough for a movie length play session, then a break, then another round after dinner. Charging is simple. Slide the Joy Con onto the Switch and they top up while the console sits in the dock. No extra cables to remember. If you play on the road, they ride in a case without hogging space, and the bright colors are harder to leave behind at a friend's place. One honest note. Like with any controller, keeping sticks clean and storing everything in a case helps them last. Treat them kindly and they will be there for marathon weekends and quick ten minute breaks between chores. The Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Pair, Neon Purple and Neon Orange is still available for $69 at Walmart, down from the regular $80 price. See at Walmart

Walmart's 10% staff discount just got expanded. Here's what's included

Walmart is expanding its 10% employee discount to nearly all of its grocery items, including dairy and meat, through the year, the company's chief people officer told its staff in a letter on Wednesday. The discount, previously limited to fresh produce and general merchandise such as apparel, now extends to almost all food categories — including milk, meat, dry grocery, and seafood — in stores and online, effective immediately. Walmart, the largest private employer in the United States, had previously extended its grocery discount during the holidays, but the perk will now be available year-round, the company said. 'We've heard your feedback that these savings make a real difference for you and your families,' Donna Morris, Walmart's chief people officer, wrote in the letter. Morris said the extension of the discount card program, first introduced more than 50 years ago, was among the company's most requested benefits. The company has also raised wages for U.S. hourly workers and launched a bonus program for about 700,000 front-line staff over the last couple of years to help retain workers. The Wall Street Journal first reported on the extension of the discount program.
