CBFC asks for PM Modi quote in Sitaare Zameen Par, demands edits before certifying Aamir Khan's film — what was removed?
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has cleared Sitaare Zameen Par for release, but only after suggesting several modifications to the original cut. While the film received a U/A 13+ certificate, the certification process involved key requests from the Revising Committee, including the inclusion of a quote by Prime Minister Narendra Modi immediately following the film's opening disclaimer.
CBFC revising committee suggested key changes
The CBFC initially referred the film to its Examining Committee, which suggested a few cuts. However, actor-producer Aamir Khan reportedly did not agree with the proposed edits. The matter was then taken to the Revising Committee, led by theatre personality and academic Waman Kendre, for further review.
As per a report by Bollywood Hungama, the Revising Committee made several suggestions after viewing the film. This included adding a quote by Prime Minister Modi after the disclaimer, and changes to specific references and visuals in the film.
Dialogue and visual adjustments implemented
According to the same report, the Revising Committee recommended the replacement of the term 'Michael Jackson' with 'Lovebirds' and 'Business Woman' with 'Business Person.' In addition, the filmmakers were asked to remove a particular visual that featured the word 'kamal.' These changes were implemented, following which the CBFC granted the final clearance.
The film is produced by Aamir Khan Productions and directed by RS Prasanna. With the certificate now in place, the film is scheduled for theatrical release on Friday, June 20.
Box office and ticket sales ahead of release
Despite the earlier uncertainty over certification, Sitaare Zameen Par has generated strong interest among moviegoers. According to data from trade website Sacnilk, the film has already recorded advance bookings worth ₹1.03 crore across India, excluding block seats. It has sold over 39,000 tickets for its opening day.
Also featuring Genelia Deshmukh, Sitaare Zameen Par is described as the spiritual successor to the 2007 film Taare Zameen Par, which marked Aamir Khan's debut as a director. After revisions suggested by the CBFC, Sitaare Zameen Par is now set for release with all changes made and strong advance sales.

Reportedly, the actor has reportedly declined a whopping Rs 120 crore offer from Prime Video for the OTT rights of his film. As per trade analyst Komal Nahta, Khan aims to take a bold stand against the current trend of early digital releases, with a vision to restore the theatre-going culture in India. Aamir's decision to hold back the OTT premiere by at least eight weeks is part of his strategic move to encourage the audience to return to cinemas. 'The idea is to make people choose the big screen experience again by not giving them the home-viewing option so soon," a source close to the development said. Aamir Khan Productions introduces 10 rising stars in his film: Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar in Sitaare Zameen Par. How Aamir Khan Replaced Manoj Bajpayee In Rang De Basanti
New Delhi: Rang De Basanti screenwriter Kamlesh Pandey recently revealed that Manoj Bajpayee was cast in Aamir Khan's role as Daljeet 'DJ' in Rang De Basanti. In an exclusive conversation with Ravya Sarda on her YouTube show, the screenwriter revealed the many challenges faced in the making of the film. He also spoke about the casting changes that eventually led to Rang De Basanti becoming a big film. What's Happening New revelations have surfaced online, where Rang De Basanti screenwriter Kamlesh Pandey spoke about the sudden change in the casting of Rang De Basanti. He told Ravya Sarda on her YouTube show, "We had been roaming around with the script of the film for 6 years, and no one was ready to make that film. We had signed Manoj for the role that Aamir played finally. We thought we would make a small film; we didn't have a big budget. The moment Aamir heard the script, he told us that he wanted to do the film, and he even got AR Rahman to come on the project. UTV, who had rejected the film twice in the past, immediately said yes to it." Speaking about how the flashback and current scenarios in the film's screenplay initially confused the producers, Kamlesh Pandey added, "Producers thought that this was a Sholay remake from the point of view of Basanti. They used to make fun of it and ask who was going to play her, and I used to tell them with a straight face that we were thinking of casting Esha Deol. They used to take it so seriously, and I didn't really know whether to slap these people or ignore them." Earlier on Shubhankar Mishra's podcast, Randeep Hooda had also spoken about how he lost his role as Karan R Singhania (later played by Siddharth) because he did not want to play second fiddle to Aamir Khan. About Rang De Basanti The plot of the film revolves around a gang of friends who graduate from Delhi University, but hang around in their old campus. Their paths cross with British filmmaker (Alice Patten), who plans to cast them in a film inspired by the sacrifices of Indian freedom fighters under British rule. In the beginning, the group of friends are largely apolitical, but when they lose a dear friend due to local government corruption, the patriotism in them comes to life. The story then unravels to showcase how they avenge the death of their friend. In A Nutshell
