Exclusive - Father's Day 2025: Rahul Vaidya reflects on fatherhood and childhood memories; says 'Becoming a dad changed everything'
Singer Rahul Vaidya, known for his soulful voice and grounded personality, shared his heartfelt thoughts on Father's Day this year — but with a twist. Now that he has stepped into the role of a father himself, the meaning of the day has changed for him entirely.
In an exclusive chat, he reflects on his own childhood memories, the values he's imbibed from his father, and how fatherhood has reshaped his perspective.
Rahul believes that Father's Day was always meaningful, but the arrival of his little one has added new emotional depth. 'Father's Day was always special for me, but now that I am a father, it's become even more special to me, and I have kind of realised the importance of this day, even more than what it used to be for me,' he shares.
Recalling his early years, Rahul opens up about one particularly fond memory. 'A father somehow in our society is not celebrated as much as Mother's Day, but every time my father used to take me out for badminton when I was very small — and then he would get me a soft drink after the session — that memory is very, very special for me,' he smiles.
Rahul sees his father not just as a parent but as an example of how to live with humility.

'Most people around me say my dad is a very good human being. He's humble, straightforward, minds his own business, and remains happy in his own world. These are qualities I've really tried to learn and follow,' he shares.
Like many in Indian households, Rahul experienced the quiet, reserved kind of love fathers often express. 'Till date, my father has never told me 'Well done beta, I'm proud of you.' In our culture, sometimes there's a respectful distance between fathers and children.
But I know in my heart that he is very proud. In fact, I always say — the day I started earning at 17, he retired in his mind.'
Becoming a dad has brought a shift in how Rahul views life. 'Even though I am a father, because my toddler is still so young, I haven't gotten that big 'Happy Father's Day' moment yet. But I feel very cute about it. It's a beautiful thought. I feel more responsible, and I look forward to every year – not just Father's Day, but fatherhood itself. It's very, very exciting.'
