In a move aimed at cutting down ticket queue times for Delhiites, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation DMRC ) has partnered with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).Commuters can now book metro tickets through over 10 popular mobile applications, eliminating the need to download a dedicated metro app.The integration is aimed at making public transit more convenient and accessible for the city's 6.5 million daily riders. Users can now access metro ticketing directly from platforms like Chartr, EaseMyTrip, Google Maps, Highway Delite, Miles & Kilometres (via Telegram), NammaYatri, OneTicket, Rapido, Redbus, Tummoc and Yatri Railways. The unified system has been enabled through a single-point tech interface by SequelString AI (SAI), allowing apps across categories—from journey planners to ride-hailing and travel portals—to integrate Delhi Metro ticketing seamlessly. For example, a commuter travelling from Jaipur to Delhi can now book both bus and metro tickets in one go on the Redbus app. Local riders, meanwhile, can use multi-modal transport apps like Rapido to book a bike ride to a metro station, complete their metro journey, and take another ride to their final destination—all within a single app."For instance, an inter-city passenger traveling from Jaipur to Delhi via bus can now use the Redbus app not just to book their bus ticket, but also to purchase a Delhi Metro ticket from ISBT Kashmere Gate to any onward destination within the city—without switching platforms. Similarly, for intra-city commuters, a user on the Rapido app can plan an entire journey in one go — starting with a bike taxi ride from home to Dhaula Kuan Metro Station, continuing via Delhi Metro to Anand Vihar, and completing the trip with a final bike or cab ride," the DMRC said in a post on X.'This partnership with ONDC is part of our effort to simplify metro travel and bring it into the digital spaces people already use every day. By offering ticketing through multiple familiar apps, we are removing the friction that often comes with transit access,' said Vikas Kumar, Managing Director of DMRC.Delhi Metro began its integration with ONDC in a soft launch phase in November 2024. With the full rollout now in effect, ticketing is live on the above said apps.

According to officials, after careful consideration, the two locations have been selected for the initial start of the project, and a tender has been issued inviting private players to operate these rides at DDA sites. New Delhi, Jun 19 (PTI) Delhiites will get a unique experience of hot-air balloon ride as the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is planning to launch the recreational rides at Yamuna Sports Complex and Commonwealth Games Village Sports Complex, officials said on Thursday. With an eye on generating revenue and promoting tourism, the landowning agency has marked four sites at each of the two mega sports complexes managed by it. Currently there are several other sporting areas within these complexes. According to the officials, firms will be allowed to advertise on the balloons, and the licence issued will be for three years, which will be extendable up to a maximum of nine years. 'The space will be provided to the firm for undertaking a maximum of four hours of flying per day. However, temporary permission for additional hours may be granted by DDA on a case-to-case basis,' the proposal added. The price of the hot-air balloon rides will be decided by the firm, however, DDA has directed to keep the tickets at a reasonable price. Spread across a vast space of around 100 acres, the Commonwealth Games Village along the banks of the Yamuna River was constructed as a residence for athletes during the Commonwealth Games in 2010. It is located near Akshardham temple. The Yamuna Sports Complex situated in Surajmal Vihar was also constructed for the games. PTI SSM NB NB This report is auto-generated from PTI news service.
