In a move aimed at cutting down ticket queue times for Delhiites, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation DMRC ) has partnered with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).Commuters can now book metro tickets through over 10 popular mobile applications, eliminating the need to download a dedicated metro app.The integration is aimed at making public transit more convenient and accessible for the city's 6.5 million daily riders. Users can now access metro ticketing directly from platforms like Chartr, EaseMyTrip, Google Maps, Highway Delite, Miles & Kilometres (via Telegram), NammaYatri, OneTicket, Rapido, Redbus, Tummoc and Yatri Railways.The unified system has been enabled through a single-point tech interface by SequelString AI (SAI), allowing apps across categories—from journey planners to ride-hailing and travel portals—to integrate Delhi Metro ticketing seamlessly.For example, a commuter travelling from Jaipur to Delhi can now book both bus and metro tickets in one go on the Redbus app. Local riders, meanwhile, can use multi-modal transport apps like Rapido to book a bike ride to a metro station, complete their metro journey, and take another ride to their final destination—all within a single app."For instance, an inter-city passenger traveling from Jaipur to Delhi via bus can now use the Redbus app not just to book their bus ticket, but also to purchase a Delhi Metro ticket from ISBT Kashmere Gate to any onward destination within the city—without switching platforms. Similarly, for intra-city commuters, a user on the Rapido app can plan an entire journey in one go — starting with a bike taxi ride from home to Dhaula Kuan Metro Station, continuing via Delhi Metro to Anand Vihar, and completing the trip with a final bike or cab ride," the DMRC said in a post on X.'This partnership with ONDC is part of our effort to simplify metro travel and bring it into the digital spaces people already use every day. 'These sites will be offered for operation of hot air ballooning on a revenue-sharing basis. 'The space will be provided to the firm for undertaking a maximum of four hours of flying per day. However, temporary permission for additional hours may be granted by DDA on a case-to-case basis,' the proposal added. The price of the hot-air balloon rides will be decided by the firm, however, DDA has directed to keep the tickets at a reasonable price. Spread across a vast space of around 100 acres, the Commonwealth Games Village along the banks of the Yamuna River was constructed as a residence for athletes during the Commonwealth Games in 2010. 20% increase in intercity tourist bus reservations : redBus report
MUMBAI : redBus, the digital bus ticketing service, released its Annual BusTrack Report on Thursday, offering detailed analysis of intercity travel trends across private bus services in India. The report presented a specific focus on Maharashtra's travel patterns, booking behaviours and favoured routes for 2024-25. The state recorded a notable 20% increase in intercity tourist bus reservations compared to the previous year, it stated. The report highlighted a few findings for Maharashtra. This included the most popular routes -- the busiest travel corridors were identified as Pune-Goa, Pune-Hyderabad, Pune-Indore and Mumbai-Hyderabad, showcasing Maharashtra's vital transport links with Western and Southern India. When it came to reservation patterns, nearly half (49%) of travellers opted for same-day bookings, while 46% secured their travel 1-7 days beforehand, suggesting a preference for spontaneous and short-term journey planning. The study also showed small city growth. Smaller cities (Tier 3) in Maharashtra demonstrated a 23% rise in digital bookings year-on-year, indicating increased online platform adoption outside major urban centres. In case of travel timings, weekday journeys constituted 69% of all bookings, suggesting a predominance of professional and business-related travel. Maharashtra's travellers also showed strong inclination towards Sleeper buses (87%) and AC buses (82%), reflecting demand for comfortable and overnight journey options, the redBus report added.
