Meghan Markle shares sweet way she keeps little Archie, 6, and Lili, 4, grounded
Meghan Markle explained how she and Prince Harry want their children; Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to know the value of money, particularly because they have "privilege" Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet sell homegrown fruit and vegetables at a farmers' market to understand the "value of things," Meghan Markle has said. The Duchess of Sussex, 43, believes the practice helps teach her kids the value of money because they are "very lucky" to live in a "privileged" home. She and Prince Harry encourage the children to do gardening regularly, and take pride in the crops in order to sell them at a market in Montecito, California. Meghan said: "There's a cost and a price for things, and I think that's key for children to understand, especially children who are very lucky to have a home, that has privilege, you need to know that just like manners, and taking care of the things around you, there is a value on things." Speaking to her friend and fellow podcaster Emma Grede, British-born CEO of fashion brand Good American and a founding partner of Kim Kardashian's Skims line, the duchess added: "Gardening is really really so great for children because it teaches them patience and teaches them to value and appreciate their food." Recently, Meghan posted a sweet image of the Sussexes' beagle Mia sniffing a basket of fresh produce seemingly grown in the garden of her mansion in Montecito. At the time, the mum said she prepares Archie and Lilibet's packed lunches with vegetables grown in the garden. "I love it at the end of a long day. The kids are down to bed at like 7ish. I can go downstairs have a glass of wine [and] I'm doing their little lunch. I find joy in it for whatever reason and it can be therapeutic. That for me is one of my simple pleasures," Meghan continued on the podcast. This is such a key age. I don't want to miss a moment for my children and I love that I can do drop off and pick up at school and do meetings in between and go to Disneyland for two days, as we just did. And, you know, volunteer to serve hot lunch at school or be the chaperone for the kindergarten field trip." The former actress, who grew up in California, juggles her business As Ever with parenting. She has been using podcasting - and other media - recently to promote her business, including dropping cryptic hints on Instagram at "surprises" which await fans later this week. A post on the brand's official page was captioned: "Oh yes, things await. Mark your calendars for June 20 at 8 a.m. PT – we're bringing back your favorites, plus some delicious surprises you won't want to miss!"
