Jenna Ortega On ‘Wednesday' Season 2 As Release Dates And Trailer Revealed

Forbes23-04-2025
Wednesday Season 2 star Jenna Ortega and director Tim Burton are excited about what's ahead for the series as Netflix announced release dates and dropped a new trailer on Wednesday.
Created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar and executive produced by Burton, Wednesday Season 2 features Wednesday Addams return to Nevermore Academy. The new trailer for Season 2 begins with Wednesday checking several weapons unique to dark sensibilities at an airport to the strains of a creepy version of the classic The Sound of Music tune 'My Favorite Things.'
In addition to starring in Season 2 of Wednesday — which will be released in two parts on Aug. 6 and Sept. 3 — Ortega returns to the series as a producer, according to Netflix's Tudum.
'The most exciting thing is being able to revisit her,' Ortega told Tudum in an interview published Wednesday. 'Wednesday Addams is one of the coolest characters of all time, so to have gotten the opportunity to play her once was incredible, and then to be able to slip into the costume and tone again, it's so much fun.
"She runs circles around everyone that she has a conversation with, so to play someone who's so much more intelligent than you will ever be, it's quite funny and strange and enjoyable,' Ortega added.
Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán's Morticia and Gomez Addams have been promoted to series regulars for Wednesday Season 2, which means they'll have a greater screen presence this season on the Nevermore campus. In addition, Wednesday's younger brother, Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez), is a new student at Nevermore.
'Your family at school is the worst thing possible, isn't it? I never wanted my parents to come to school. Wednesday is an even more extreme version of that," Tim Burton told Tudum. 'Poor Pugsley. He's kind of an outcast among outcasts, so I feel for him. He comes into Nevermore for the first time, so we get to see his experience at school. Everybody has their own specialty power, and he's new to his own. He's just exploring his newfound teenage powers.'
The Wednesday Season 2 trailer features several familiar faces like Wednesday's roommate Enid (Emma Myers) and Uncle Fester (Fred Armisen) and Thing (well, he doesn't have a face), as well as new ones including Principal Dort (Steve Buscemi) and Grandmama Hester Frump (Joanna Lumley).
Wednesday Season 2 will be released on Netflix in two parts, on Aug. 6 and Sept. 3, which of course, are two Wednesdays.

‘KPop Demon Hunters' Tops the Billboard 100 With Huntr/x's ‘Golden'

KPop Demon Hunters has swiftly become one of the most delightful and empowering surprises of the year in animation. Now that the Netflix and Sony Animation-certified banger is taking over the world, it only makes sense for its catchy music to reach greater heights. Billboard just announced that 'Golden' from KPop Demon Hunters' hit soundtrack has reached #1 on the charts. The Huntr/x track for a while there was only slightly behind the Saja Boys' 'Your Idol' from the same soundtrack—but just like in the film, the kick-ass trio overcame the bad guys and surpassed them to hit the top of the charts. So yeah, that Honmoon? Sealed. As per Billboard, 'Golden' is the ninth song from the Korean pop genre to dominate the Hot 100. Additionally, it's also the most recent No. 1 performed by a fictional ensemble from a film, the last being Encanto's viral 'We Don't Talk About Bruno,' which enjoyed a five-week stint at the coveted spot in February and March 2022. And what's even cooler: this is the first all-women group to lead the charts since Destiny's Child in 2001. Huntr/x are those girls. Recently Stephen Kirk and Jenna Andrews, a songwriting duo that contributed to KPop Demon Hunters, talked to the Hollywood Reporter about the film's success: 'I certainly had no expectation. I was just like, I love K-pop, this sounds like a fire idea, let's just see where it goes. And then for it to come out, go number one on Netflix, and then [have] the soundtrack explode, it's just such a blessing,' shared Kirk. Andrews added, 'I mean, the truth is, most labels would [not be interested in] soundtracks. Because soundtracks just don't really stream, they don't really go; it's about the movie, and they go away, right?' she said. 'I think with this particular one, because it was K-pop, I think we both thought it probably will do something, but to this extent, no. Definitely not.' KPop Demon Hunters is now streaming on Netflix. Want more io9 news? 'Golden' from 'KPop Demon Hunters' hits No. 1 on Billboard, surpasses 3 billion streams

"Golden," the soundtrack from Netflix 's "KPop Demon Hunters" by the fictional K-pop girl group Huntr/x, has reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Performed by EJAE, Audrey Nuna and REI AMI, the track makes history as the first No. 1 Hot 100 hit by a female K-pop group, with nearly 32 million streams, 7,000 sales, and 8.4 million radio airplay impressions in the United States, according to Billboard. The track also continues to climb the charts for a seventh straight week, with over 3 billion global streams to date, "reclaiming #2 on the Billboard 200, and continuing to be the highest charting soundtrack of the year," according to a press release. This achievement also marks the first fictional act to top the chart since Encanto and the first female group to do so since Destiny's Child in 2001. The soundtrack also claims the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Soundtracks chart, dominating for a seventh week. The "KPop Demon Hunters" soundtrack continues to hold steady at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, recording its best week yet with 100,000 equivalent album units. The album, associated with the animated action-fantasy film of the same title, has grown in popularity each week since its release. Premiered on June 20, the action-packed film follows a world-renowned K-pop girl group balancing their lives in the spotlight with their secret identities as demon hunters. The film has become a global streaming sensation on Netflix, with 158.8 million views since its debut, ranking among the streamer's most popular titles ever. It's been in the Netflix Top 10 for seven weeks, according to Variety. Knowing how important the soundtrack would be, directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans collaborated with experienced K-pop producers. "Because we wanted the music to be really incredible and really speak to the K-pop fans and be legitimately fit into the K-pop space, we felt that it was important to partner with a Korean label," Kang said during a Netflix press interview, per BBC.

'The Ultimatum: Queer Love' cast stripped down to their undies for this steamy TomboyX photoshoot

Sara Seryani Marita, Britney, AJ, Magan, and Dayna model TomboyX Is the cast of Netflix's The Ultimatum: Queer Love season two still living rent-free in your head? Well, their collab with TomboyX isn't going to help with that. But it will make your day a whole lot cheekier. The campaign reunites several fan favorites from season two's cast including Marita Prodger, Ashley J, Mel, Magan Mourad, Dayna Mathews, AJ, and Britney Thompson. The collab between the cast of the hit series and the gender-inclusive apparel brand is all about celebrating queer style, friendship, and visibility. And, of course, love. While the cast are all in TomboyX, they selected garments that reflected their own personal styles and spirits. 'I've spent so much of my life trying to fit into boxes other people built for me. Now, I'm building my own — except mine are lined with comfort, self-love, and a little bit of glitter. TomboyX gives me the freedom to be unapologetically me in every stitch,' Marita Prodger explained in the press release. 'This campaign is about more than clothes; it's about visibility, solidarity, and joy,' added Magan Mourad. 'The show on Netflix may have ended, but queer people are so much more than the drama you see on a series. We wanted to show that our stories, our friendships, and our community keep growing long after the cameras stop rolling.' Sapphic folks have long enjoyed the look and feel of TomboyX, and this collab just seemed like a natural fit.
