Jenna Ortega On ‘Wednesday' Season 2 As Release Dates And Trailer Revealed
Wednesday Season 2 star Jenna Ortega and director Tim Burton are excited about what's ahead for the series as Netflix announced release dates and dropped a new trailer on Wednesday.
Created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar and executive produced by Burton, Wednesday Season 2 features Wednesday Addams return to Nevermore Academy. The new trailer for Season 2 begins with Wednesday checking several weapons unique to dark sensibilities at an airport to the strains of a creepy version of the classic The Sound of Music tune 'My Favorite Things.'
In addition to starring in Season 2 of Wednesday — which will be released in two parts on Aug. 6 and Sept. 3 — Ortega returns to the series as a producer, according to Netflix's Tudum.
'The most exciting thing is being able to revisit her,' Ortega told Tudum in an interview published Wednesday. 'Wednesday Addams is one of the coolest characters of all time, so to have gotten the opportunity to play her once was incredible, and then to be able to slip into the costume and tone again, it's so much fun.
"She runs circles around everyone that she has a conversation with, so to play someone who's so much more intelligent than you will ever be, it's quite funny and strange and enjoyable,' Ortega added.
Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán's Morticia and Gomez Addams have been promoted to series regulars for Wednesday Season 2, which means they'll have a greater screen presence this season on the Nevermore campus. In addition, Wednesday's younger brother, Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez), is a new student at Nevermore.
'Your family at school is the worst thing possible, isn't it? I never wanted my parents to come to school. Wednesday is an even more extreme version of that," Tim Burton told Tudum. 'Poor Pugsley. He's kind of an outcast among outcasts, so I feel for him. He comes into Nevermore for the first time, so we get to see his experience at school. Everybody has their own specialty power, and he's new to his own. He's just exploring his newfound teenage powers.'
The Wednesday Season 2 trailer features several familiar faces like Wednesday's roommate Enid (Emma Myers) and Uncle Fester (Fred Armisen) and Thing (well, he doesn't have a face), as well as new ones including Principal Dort (Steve Buscemi) and Grandmama Hester Frump (Joanna Lumley).
Wednesday Season 2 will be released on Netflix in two parts, on Aug. 6 and Sept. 3, which of course, are two Wednesdays.

In case you missed it, there's a show on Netflix that's been holding onto the #1 spot for weeks. That show is called Sirens, and honestly? I enjoyed it. Sure, not everyone agrees, but it's got drama, mystery, suspense and just the right amount of comedic relief. But this isn't a review—let's talk about the cast. Sirens stars Julianne Moore, Meghann Fahy and Milly Alcock. If you're anything like me, those first two names rang a bell instantly. I mean, Julianne Moore is a legend (Crazy, Stupid, Love, Still Alice, need I say more?). And Meghann Fahy has been in some faves of mine—The White Lotus, The Bold Type and The Perfect Couple. Alcock played young Rhaenyra Targaryen in the HBO hit—yes, that Rhaenyra. She appeared in seven episodes and even earned two Critics' Choice Award nominations for her performance. Ollie Upton / HBO At just 25, Alcock already has major HBO and Netflix hits under her belt—and she's not slowing down. She's set to star in the highly anticipated Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, slated for release in 2026, which officially brings her into the DC Comics universe. And you might not have to wait until then to see her in full superhero mode. According to IMDb, Milly is credited in the upcoming Superman movie, hitting theaters this July. Before all that, the Australian actress was in a handful of series and projects like Reckoning, Upright and The Familiars—with her first acting credit dating back to 2014. The Latest Update About ‘Dept. Q' Season 2 On Netflix
Dept Q While the Netflix Top 10 list may be mostly dominated by the likes of Ginny and Georgia and Sirens, one new show is sliding under the radar, even if it never landed a #1 spot. That would be Dept. Q, the new British murder mystery series starring Matthew Goode as a traditionally reckless-but-brilliant cop tasked with solving cold cases. It may sound cliché, but it's quite good, and has racked up an 84% critic score and a very high 94% audience score. Now, fans want answers about a season 2. It's not time to worry…yet. No, the show is not a miniseries which would discourage a season 2 ruling this out, and despite that, no, it has not been renewed yet. But Dept. Q only was released at the very end of May, and it hasn't even been out two weeks yet. That's not particularly long for Netflix, and we often see renewals a month or more after release if we're not talking about blockbuster hits. There are some updates here, namely what the cast thinks of all this. Here's star Matthew Goode via Deadline: And here's actress Chloe Pirrie who plays Merritt Lingard to Cosmo: Deadline said they believe there is 'zero doubts' about a second season, and one point in the show's favor is that it's based on a series of books, and there are ten of them for a sprawling amount of source material. I'm not going to go full Deadline here and say there are 'zero" doubts that Dept. Q gets renewed for season 2, but I am leaning in an optimistic direction. Netflix loves crime series. There's lots of source material to pull from. It has been well-received by critics and viewers. It has a stellar cast but not a wildly expensive one, and the same is true for being a grounded crime series rather than some huge blockbuster. All the signs are there that this is going to work out, but fans should be patient as for most Netflix series, this kind of thing doesn't happen overnight.
