This marks another delay in Baukudi's case that has already experienced a postponement due to outstanding procedural issues.

A police officer's kidnapping case has stalled after the court heard that the missing teenager, who is needed to identify the accused in an identification parade, has not been found.
The case against 42-year-old police officer Philemon Adoon, charged with kidnapping and extortion in connection with the disappearance of 19-year-old Kamogelo Baukudi, was postponed to 24 June 2025 following Friday's brief appearance at the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court.
The court was told that the missing Free State teenager, Baukudi, was required to participate in an ID parade to identify the suspect — a process that cannot proceed while his whereabouts remain unknown.
Details of kidnapping
Baukudi was kidnapped on Thursday, 5 June 2025 and remains missing.
According to police reports, the teen was kidnapped by two suspects impersonating police officers.
Police spokesperson Colonel Brigadier Athlenda Mathe previously revealed that a complainant, identified as Daniel Malebatso, fetched Baukudi from Marti Du Plessis School in Fitchardpark as usual.
After Malebatso and Baukudi left the school, Mathe said the complainant stated that the pair was followed and subsequently pulled over by a White Toyota Hilux GD-6 Double Cab.
Two men, one in a police uniform and one in blue tracksuits, emerged from the vehicle and approached Baukudi and Malebatso.
Mathe said the suspect, wearing a police uniform, confronted Malebatso and told him that the Suzuki Ertiga they were driving together with Baukudi was suspected of delivering drugs.
'The suspects then separated Daniel and Kamogelo and instructed Daniel to drive at the front whilst they followed from behind to Park Road Police Station.
'Both vehicles turned back and drove in a westerly direction [on] Vereeniging Drive. Daniel alleges that a truck went in between the Suzuki he was driving and the Toyota Hilux, and he never saw it again,' Mathe said.
Court's frustration with delays in Baukudi case
According to Newzroom Afrika, the magistrate expressed dissatisfaction with the unfolding situation during Friday's proceedings.
The court reportedly indicated that if police have not conducted the required identification parade by the third appearance, proceedings will continue without following that procedure.
This marks another delay in a case that has already experienced a postponement due to outstanding procedural issues.
Adoon previously appeared in court on Monday before the case was postponed to Friday for bail information and further investigation.
Police reportedly confirmed that the only person eligible to conduct the ID parade would be Baukudi himself, creating an impossible situation given his continued absence.

Baukudi family's mounting anguish
The procedural impasse has intensified the suffering of Baukudi's family, who were present in court and visibly devastated by the continued delays.
A representative from the South African Funeral Practitioners Association, where Baukudi's mother holds membership, spoke about the family's deteriorating emotional state.
'She is devastated, and the entire family is devastated. Similar [to] us, as a parent, we got into issues, and we understand how she's feeling,' the former chairperson of the association, who was providing support to the family, told Newzroom Afrika.
The representative made clear their singular objective: 'So we are here for just one purpose, to demand the release, an unconditional one for that matter, of Kamogelo Baukudi.'
Patience running thin
The repeated court postponements have tested the family's endurance beyond limits.
The association representative expressed growing frustration with the legal delays, stating they were 'disappointed by the postponement today because our interest is one. The child must come back. We need the child.'
'Our patience is running out. Every second that passes without us having the child back is an agony to us and to the family,' the representative added.

Baukudi case investigation details withheld
Police have declined to provide updates on their search for Baukudi, citing the sensitive nature of the ongoing investigation.
Authorities stated they are withholding information to avoid potentially compromising the case at this critical juncture.
Prior to Friday's proceedings, police spokesperson, Brigadier Motantsi Makhele, had said Adoon could not be identified.
According to Makhele, this was requested by the investigating team and further ordered by the court.

Bogus doctor arrested in Mpumalanga

A bogus doctor from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) was arrested in Embalenhle, Mpumalanga, after allegedly posing as a medical doctor. This incident follows a compliance inspection conducted by a Health Inspector at a local medical practice. The inspector paid a visit to the surgery that operated under the name of a registered medical doctor (the suspect) in Extension 7. Upon arrival, the inspector entered the consultation room of the suspect, where he found him conducting medical consultations and questioned him. During the questioning, the 36-year-old suspect, Jonathan Ilungwa Kilimba, produced five patient files to 'prove' he was a real doctor. However, when asked whether he was registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) to confirm he was a registered doctor, he confessed that he was not registered with the organisation. Kilimba was immediately arrested and detained at Embalenhle SAPS for violating the Health Professions Act. This also prompted investigations to check the authenticity of his asylum documentation since he is a foreign national. The suspect is expected to appear before the Evander Magistrate's Court on 17 June 2025, over charges of impersonating a healthcare professional. The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi, urged the public to verify the credentials of medical practitioners before consulting. 'We urge the public to always verify the credentials of medical professionals before consulting them. The SAPS remains committed to protecting the public from unqualified individuals who put lives at risk by operating illegally,' pleaded Mkhwanazi. Four suspects were arrested after using muthi to rob people in Verulam CBD, KZN, on Friday, 13 June 2025. The four suspects, two men and two women, are also linked to committing this crime in other areas. According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), the female suspects would approach people and start a conversation to kick things off. During the conversation, the suspects would smear muthi on the victim's arm and convince them to enter their vehicle. The muthi would make the victims feel weak and disorientated, which affected their thinking abilities. RUSA explained, 'They would drive off with their male accomplices and the victims would be robbed of their valuables before being dumped on the side of the road.' A silver VW Polo used in the crime was seized. A victim who chose to remain anonymous was also a victim of this incident and had her phone stolen while visiting the mall. She says that she was waiting for her mother outside a bank at the mall when a man suddenly bumped his shoulder against hers, smearing the muthi on her. A few moments after the incident, while still trying to process what happened, an old woman came to her and told her that the man who just bumped into her put muthi on her so she should follow her to get help. 'I responded to her, and everything changed. It was like an out-of-body experience, I felt numb, yet aware of everything around me. I couldn't move or respond except when they told me to. The next thing I knew, I was in their car. I don't know how I got there. Luckily, I had no money on me,' she recalled. She adds that the woman then instructed her to perform certain rituals to remove the muthi. While she was distracted and dizzy, they quickly swapped her phone with a fake one. She says, 'They then told me to get out of the car and urinate on my hand. After 30 minutes, I was told to apply the urine on my face to remove the muthi.' The victim says that she went to the security officers at the mall to tell them about what just transpired but when they searched for the suspects, they had long left the mall. After this experience, she says that she no longer feels safe to travel alone and does not trust anyone. Midnight church robbery: Armed assailants steal pastor's Audi SUV and amplifiers

Armed robbers invaded the church in Mpumalanga and got away with the pastor's white Audi Q3 SUV with registration number KFM 302 MP, which the assailants used to flee the scene. Image: File Police at Masoyi, in Mpumalanga, have launched an investigation into a case of business robbery after armed suspects stormed a church during a night prayer service and robbed congregants. Provincial police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane said the incident happened in Numbi, shortly after midnight on Saturday morning. 'According to information received, congregants were attending an overnight prayer session at The Moving Ministries of God Church in Numbi, when five unknown African males wearing balaclavas entered the church while worshippers were praying,' said Ndubane. The suspects, armed with pistols, threatened the congregants and robbed them of 11 cellphones, two amplifiers, and the pastor's vehicle keys. 'The stolen items were loaded into a white Audi Q3 SUV with registration number KFM 302 MP, which the suspects used to flee the scene. The vehicle has not been recovered at this stage, but tracking efforts are ongoing through the Cartrack company,' said Ndubane. We urge congregants to remain vigilant, especially during night gatherings, to ensure their safety and avoid falling victim to such crimes.' [email protected] IOL News
